Fastest way to upload messages to EWS account?

In our organization we have moved from an on-premise mail server to M365. We've also added our new EWS-based accounts to Thunderbird. Since there are a large number of us… (cytajśo wěcej)

In our organization we have moved from an on-premise mail server to M365. We've also added our new EWS-based accounts to Thunderbird. Since there are a large number of users with a significant amount of older mails they want to have access to, they have been asking how they could upload them to EWS now.

From the looks of it, using TB one can either drag and drop messages from the local folders to EWS. Would message copy/move from the local folders be faster if the EWS account was setup over IMAP, instead of over EWS? If so, we could setup another account corresponding to the same EWS identity, but over IMAP, just for the purposes of transferring messages faster.

T-Bird won't open / load and must close using Win Task Mgr

On my PC - Initial problem was T-bird took forever to load and virtually all new msgs went to TRASH and I had to move to IN-Box. Per help from David - Saved off profile, and reinstalled thunderbird from thunderbird.net. No change. Then UNINSTALLED T-Bird (profile still intact). Now just attempts to open "Looking up imap.comcast.net", but won't open/connect and to close the app I must use WIN Task Master. Can't get to any msgs, etc.

Also, in the past when I was able to open, the  banner or bar at the top of the page had hundreds of email icons.  I sometime have over 1000 emails in my in-box!! 

I have years worth of emails in folders on T-Bird which I don't want to loose. Help. Thank you. I have a "working" version (with the "trash" and slow loading issue per above) on my laptop, so I can access suggestions on that version of T-Bird. You could also send any suggestions to x@gmail.com

I haven't come across this issue since I started using Thunderbird 20+ years ago.

I updated my TB to version 148 (from 140) on a Linux Mint 22.3 - Cinnamon 64-bit. After the update, events recorded in my Gmail personal account, keep popping up and do not allow neither Dismiss or Snooze - Buttons not even work. If you close the reminder window, the Reminder window pops-up a few minutes later.

Interesting is that beyond my personal Gmail account I have a couple other in Google Workspace and they work well. It is something only related to Gmail personal.

"Read Only" in Calendar Properties is unchecked

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Created outlook.com account within last 2 weeks, can get messages, can NOT send messages, have looked for solutions here and on internet, no luck.

My current setup:

 - windows 10
 - thunderbird 140.8.0esr (64-bit),  numerous previous versions also do not work
 - outlook.com (free) account mail provider
 - POP3 enabled (tried IMAP enabling also) on outlook.com account
 - no 2FA or 2FA enabled on outlook.com account, no difference
 - outlook.com web access works fine
 - followed instructions in mozilla support article Microsoft OAuth Authentication and Thunderbird in 2024 
      (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/microsoft-oauth-authentication-and-thunderbird-202)
 - have done a fresh install on a new machine without an existing profile.
 - have tried various microsoft servers, have tried oauth2, normal password
 - thunderbird account creation works just fine.
 - server settings and SMTP settings match as recommended by support article noted above
    SMTP server settings
        server name: smtp-mail.outlook.com  
        port: 587
        connection: STARTTLS
        authentication: OAUTH2
        user:  xxxxxxxx@outlook.com

symptoms:

 - receiving(downloading) emails works fine.
 - sending emails fails with following messages
     Login to server smtp-mail.outlook.com with username  xxxxxx@outlook.com    failed    followed by 
           Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) . Please check the password and verify the 
             'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'

Many people seem to be having this issue with no resolution.

For some of my sent emails, I have retried sending the message and it has appeared in my sent email folder, but not for all the emails I have retried. Checking with the recipients, they confirm receipt of my emails even though they are not shown in my sent email file. Can you suggest a solution? Thank you Derek Maule

I'm losing my mind by the fact that you can't hold to scroll or click to toggle scroll with MMB in Thunderbird, instead it opens a new tab which is completely useless to me since I share inbox and mail reader in one screen.

Is there any way to fix or change this?

If not I'd really like to request this as an option or feature.

I _do_ need a backup of settings, passwords, pgp keys, to move to another workstation. It is unclear what exactly is exported.

Hello, I have a problem.

Before an emergency move, I transferred my calendar data from my Windows 11 PC to my laptop (Windows 10). The calendars worked perfectly there; entries were added, etc. Since yesterday, after eight months, I've access to my Windows 11 PC again and am trying to transfer the calendar. It's not working.

Two of my calendar files imported, but my large company calendar file (3200kB) won't.

I now know it's too large, so I tried manually splitting it (using Notepad). Part 1 (500kB) imports, but Part 2 (488kB) doesn't. I also tried using Google Calendar, same problem. However, this calendar file works perfectly on the laptop.

What can I do? It contains data for eight months plus future dates.

For some reason, 3 of 4 accounts I use no longer open on the accounts list. I cannot expand them, I cannot "Get Messages" for them, there's no reaction whatsoever, as in no message in status bar (which works fine, as confirmed with that 1/4 account that still works).

I checked for subscribed folders and all of them are. I even was able to add a new folder, which does get added via IMAP. This is, therefore, not a connectivity issue.

I also checked the Developer Console and Activity Tasks, absolutely nothing shows there.

I removed global-messages-db.sqlite, folderTree.sjon, the .msf files. I checked in Troubleshoot mode. Nothing helps.

This looks like some nasty bug and I am happy to help debugging this further, if you point me in the right direction.

On Linux desktop trying to use webmail (using firefox), I have to solve a captcha everytime (extremely difficult, since there is a slider to move until you see distinct Russian words.Btw. I know Russian, but I struggle).

On android however, it's easy: There is a mail.ru app in the playstore, working very well.

I don't want to use mail.u on android, since typing on android is cumbersome.
