Firefox 6 slowed down the loading of webpages to a ridiculous level. What the heck is going on, and why isn't there a fix for it?????

I suggest you revert.
6.0 apparently has many performance issues. I can't speak to your specific slow-down issue, but if you look at these boards, 6.0 has enough problems to suggest it should be avoided until Mozilla actually puts out a FIX release, not a "new release with new added bugs" release.
