Can't send or receive emails. It asks for password but won't accept it.
I am using pop3 to receive messages and it worked until 7/23/18 but now it asks for password. When I enter password it rejects password. I have not changed password and I cannot log on to webmail either. My isp is PBX-Change and they say it is "fine". Emails are working on Android smart phone but not on PC using Windows 10. I requested Password Reset from Thunderbird but, that did not go to smartphone or PC.

Thunderbird was running without problem for quite a long time. Occasionally I couldn't sign on. Now, it's solid. It won't accept the password, I can't download new messages,I can't send messages. The password reject states it's a server problem. What's going on?

re :I cannot log on to webmail This needs to be sorted first.
Check your Firewall, which may be part of your Anti-virus product, is not blocking your browser and not blocking Thunderbird. These programs must be allowed.
I didn't see Mozilla thunderbird on firewall list but it is on list of programs; pop3 and smpt worked until Monday morning (7/23) on Win10 pc.
Windows defender does not show Mozilla Thunderbird on list but it was working Sunday afternoon and stopped sometime early Monday morning.
Thunderbird must be on list to be allowed. Otherwise it will not be able to connect to internet and therefore not allow receiving or sending of emails. If not in list you need to add it.
Also check the AV because it may have decided to block Thunderbird in Firewall.

I imported my Thunderbird email into my Outlook account and it started working again. However, in Thunderbird, I now have to sign in with password to get incoming (POP3) and to send (STMP) which I did not have to do before. At least it works. Martha
MarthaN I'm not sure how jjdees response got selected as a chosen solution.

When you enter the password at the prompt, you need to select the checkbox to tell Password Manager to remember the password and then click on OK.
If you have a product like CCleaner which cleans up files, then do not let it have any access to any Thunderbird file or folder because those types of products have a habit of deleting necessary files likes passwords and session files.
I selected the checkbox to tell Password Manager to remember the password and it worked. I guess I thought that box meant something else. Thanks for your help.
