I am shifting over to TB from Windows Live Mail. I have installed TB Ver 115.16.2 on 7 computers successfully (Win 7, 10 and 11) over the past year. But on one Win 7 computer TB will not save the password. Usually TB asks for the Password during set-up. But here it asked for it in a pop-up box. Yes, I entered the correct password. Yes, I said "save with Password manager." But here it keeps asking for it, over and over. At one point TB connected to the POP download server, just long enough to download all the incoming emails, but then quit connecting. It won't connect to the SMTP server. The port numbers for POP and SMTP are correct and the security settings are correct. I've done a lot of web searching. Most sites say that profile files logins.json and key4.db may be corrupted. I disabled them (by renaming) and copied those two files from another computer on which the same Thunderbird version works properly on the same mail server. Same thing - TB still keeps asking for the POP server password. I just deleted TB (uninstalled, and deleted all the appdata directories, and verified there were no lingering registry keys using a list shown on Spiceworks). I'll next reinstall, but don't have much confidence that it will work. Thanks.

I downloaded TB Supernova ver. 115.18.0 (32 bit) to my wife's old Gateway computer. (Win 7 Ultimate Svc Pk 1 32bit). However, after manually configuring the server settings, I get the above error message. Additional information: This old Gateway had Thunderbird on it at one time - don't know the old version. It worked, then quit after an upgrade, and I haven't been able to get it to work since. The ISP provider still has our original password, and I can log into their email server and see 81K worth of emails. I have a Toshiba laptop, also Win 7 64bit, and TB SuperNova is installed and working on it. I used the server settings from my Toshiba to manually configure TB on the Gateway... Any ideas as to what to try next? Peter

I am trying to re-install Thunderbird on my wife's old Gateway desktop. I downloaded version 115.18.0 and tried to install it, but get a message saying it can't be installed because my OS is 32 bit. I thought the SuperNova would work for both 64 and 32 bit OS platforms. (It does work on my Toshiba laptop, which is a 64 bit Win 7 machine.) If this version of Thunderbird will not work, what about the last version that will. It was installed years ago. Thanks, Peter

In one folder, one message received on 20th Feb keeps altering its date/time so that it appears AFTER replies I've sent in response. This has occurred following a problem with the same folder where several emails went missing, which I managed to restore with the Repair Folder function. Thought I might try looking in the file (not the MSF, the other one), but it's far too big for any text editor to open.

Thunderbird failing to login to BT email

Thunderbird now consistently fails on attempting to login to BT email. It worked fine one day and not the next. It now fails every time. It now just says "Host contacted - sending login information", then comes up with an error "Sending of password did not succeed". Nothing has been changed - no settings, nothing. I had not been anywhere near the setting but have now examined them and they are indeed exactly as they were and, having checked, are exactly as they are supposed to be. The saved username and password are as they should be and I am able to login to BT email on a browser using those credentials and send and receive email with no problems. It therefore appears that there is no issue at BT and the account has not been blocked due to too many login attempts. I have cleared cache, deleted and re-installed Thunderbird but it makes no difference. Are there any ideas as to how to fix this?

how to resize message pane

I upgraded to TB v115.10.1 and find it somewhat difficult versus previous app.

My problem is the same as with previous versions - I cannot resize the message pane. On Classic View left pane I have 20+ email accounts listed. On top right pane I have the inbox for a selected email account and takes 1/2 of window. On bottom right pane, the individual message displays with header and takes the other 1/2. The message pane height size can be reduced with mouse but not increased. I want it to take at least 3/4 of right pane to make previewing emails easier.

In older versions it was possible to do this but not for several years. Any suggestions as to how to edit the settings? Nothing seems to be available that I can see.

I have a Hotmail account and multiple gmail accounts. When I try following your (obscure) instructions for changing passwords, the box of passwords is only for my gmail accounts. None for my hotmail.

As Hotmail is very important to me, I'd like to keep accessing it through TB but you make it tough.

I am now not receiving my Hotmail mail and as I get too much traffic 200+ msgs a day, it will build. Please send simple, direct instructions on how to find and change the hotmail password, thank you.

My computer suddenly started the above error message for multiple programs. The local computer shop was able to sort out what appeared to be the root cause and that recovered some things but I still needed to reinstall a number of programs.

The program I am terrified of reinstalling is Thunderbird. All my emails on five email accounts since 2011 are stored in TB and I naturally do not want to lose any of them.

The major problems are the computer is running Win7 Enterprise and I am 82 years old so I am prone to needing things spelt out in greater detail than many others.

Can anyone provide a way to reset the program permissions (preferable) or identify the best way to reinstall and still access all my historic emails?

I am using Thunderbird 115.18.0 and Windows 7 professional (no snarky comments please).

All has been working fine for years, but in the last few days, strange thing have been happening:

In the pane with all of my email accounts, the ">" icon to the left of the first account has been disappearing. This meant I could not look at any folders, including Inbox, Drafts, Sent etc and handmade folders. Cured by closing and opening Thunderbird.

I now have two Archive folders, one called Archive, the other Archives. Both empty, neither can be deleted.

Periodically, when the ">" is present, selecting it (to "V"), the list of folders SLOWLY appears, one folder at a time.

Periodically, the bottom of the Thunderbird window, shows a 'downloading' message, of hundreds of files. Several GB of data has been downloaded over a couple of days.

Opening the Inbox folder, the pane with subject, correspondents, date etc has changed the sort order.

Sometimes, all of the emails in this pane have had their font underlined.

Nothing on my system has intentionally changed,

Any ideas what has gone wrong, and how to put things right would be appreciated.

I followed all the steps as outlined in the Norton help site as much as possible and Thunderbird tells me that wscert.der is installed. However it was all to no avail. When doing so I did not see the screen asking me to trust this CA to identify web sites but every other step seemed OK.

I have just upgraded to Thunderbird 102.15.1 on my laptop and have a problem with right-click menus on folder names.

The menu appears for a brief instant and then disappears. If I move the mouse cursor slightly then it is redrawn and behaves normally.

Is this a known problem, i.e. requiring a further upgrade?

My Computer in Spain worked perfect wit my Emails until about 5 years ago when you upgraded thunderbird

Since Then it will not recognize my LOG IN passwords for both my Google email and my Plusnet email

I have had to access Gmail via there website but I like your set far better

I have had to access plus net via web mail which is very basic

Both Passwords work perfect in England

I have now set up another Computer and this time Thunderbird does recognize my Gmail password but still tells me my Plus net Password is not correct

I contacted Plus net last December from England and they confirmed that the Password is correct Have you any suggestions as to how I can solve this problem

I use windows 7 ON ALL MY COMPUTERS

Undo update

Auto update gave loaded a version incompatible with Windows 7 sp1. How do I restore to previous and then disable update?
