In the last two days all of my messages have been immediately marked as read (i.e., unread messages do not show up in bold). In options I have chosen 'Automatically mark messages as read after displaying for 10 seconds', and in the past this has meant the incoming message showed as bold until I opened and read it, and that the main display indicated how many unread messages I had. I am using Firefox 78.13.0 in Windows 10, but this did not happen after an update: it simply happened overnight. Just now I sent a message from my Gmail account to my Firefox address and have not opened it in Firefox: on my iPad it shows as unread, but on my PC it shows as read, even though I haven't touched it. This problem applies to all three mailboxes in the Firefox account: when I look at the main Firefox display, there is no bold to indicate that any of the mailboxes have new messages.

 This is very annoying in terms of business--I can't immediately see whose messages I have not yet read, and whether any new messages have arrived in a particular mailbox since I last opened Firefox (it is too distracting to keep it open all the time).  Many thanks for any help.

This is a question relating to Thunderbird. I want to increase the default text size in incoming emails to make them easier to read, but I cannot find how to do it. I have to use zoom (Ctrl++) on every one as I read it. Have tried altering things in Settings but no help. Can anyone help, please?

I need these options to copy (and paste) data from emails.

I routinely use Thunderbird to access my three gmail accounts. Google have recently introduced two-step verification on one of these accounts - after I put in my password it sends a message to my mobile asking me to verify my identity. I am now unable to get in to this account via Thunderbird, presumably because Thunderbird can't handle the extra login step. It says I need an "application-specific password". I have no problems with my other two gmail accounts - though if Google introduce two-step verification on these I'll presumably not be able to get into them via Thudnerbird either. As far as i know I'm using the latest version of Thunderbird - I certainly get auomatic updates.

Can anybody help? John

Thunderbird email downloads from Comcast broken

I use Thunderbird (78.13.0 64-bit) on Linux Mint as my email client. I use Comcast as my ISP and have for the past 10 years, easily downloading emails (via iMap) to my workstation.

Until the afternoon of October 6th, when I started getting Certificate errors not allowing downloads. I have been able to send emails from this account from my workstation. I have also been able to continue to download emails from another account with no problems.

Comcast (support tiers 1, 2, and 3) has absolved themselves of all responsibility for any issues with their Certificates (which seem to have been updated on 26 Sept 2021 5pm Pacific time) and referred me to "the Thunderbird Company". Passing the buck.

Have any of you encountered this issue? Have any of you a clue how to resolve this?

GOOD THING I MADE A COPY OF THIS MESSAGE. IT TIMED OUT BEING SENT.

I have two gmail accounts, one yahoo, and one hotmail on my HP laptop, running Windows 10.

I've been having server authentication problems with Thunderbird on all of them ('except 'hotmail) since 9/22/21 for incoming mail and 9/17/21 or 9/20/21 for outgoing mail. Each account gives me the "failure while connecting" message. Screen shots attached.

Hotmail often gives me "your email was not sent; try again later" message. BUT it has sent the message and it has been received! Sorry, no screen shot of that error message.

I don't remember the terminology, but I have "listed" Thunderbird as safe/allowed to log in on my behalf with each of my accounts.

From the PC, I am able to log in to all of these email accounts directly with the same user/passwords entered in Thunderbird. My Galaxy S7 Smartphone successfully sends & receives from each of these accounts using a different mail client.

Please let me know if you need information on the server set ups. Until today, I did not realize the extent of this issue. I really need help! Thanks.

Hi, I am using Thunderbird 91.5.0 and Firefox 96.0 on Windows 10 19042.1415.

When Firefox is not already running and I click on a link in an eamil received in Thunderbird. Firefox opens but not the URL pointed to. Any action in the Firefox window will not work. In task mananger I can see that 3-4 Firefox instances are open plus a background process with Firefox. When I "kill" all instances of Firefox in the task manager. Open Firefox from the windows probgram bar and click on a link in the email it works ok.

Good day. My Thunderbird updated to version 91.2.0 Since then, when I press the Delete key, the program does not respond to the mouse wheel. When a message is displayed, I use the mouse wheel to move the message up/down. Now, however, there are a few moments where the program does not respond to the wheel. I have to wait a bit or click on the program window to continue.

After booting my laptop, I tried to start Thunderbird. But each time it crashed. I later discovered that I had no connection to the internet. Should TB crash, or inform the user that there was no access to the web? Rebooting the computer fixed the problem.

For YEARS I have successfully sent daily photos in my Thunderbird with no problem. Procedure: I highlight the photos to send, click "send to"/"mail recipient". Thunderbird then autonatically opens, with a box showing a choice of small, medium, large, or original size, and displays the overall total size in eacg case, so I can max the quality of what I send. I make my "total mb" choice, and click "attach". A blank email opens, I simply enter the destination email address , and all is sent. Simple., Done. Time after time. Today..EVERY time I do this (send/mail recipient/choose size/ attach) the email page now opens with abig square pop up on teling me i need to open an account! It says "IN ORDER TO RECEIVE MESSAGES YOU MUST FiRST SET UP AN ACCOUNT" ( I am trying to SEND anyway, not recieve) I have never had this problem , I am doing nothing different. I clearly DO have an account, as I have always been ablke to send photos and emails. I canNOT get past this and it is very frustrating. (Despite saying "choose account" It only offers one type anyway; a "Newsgroup" acct. I dont want one, and have never previously needed one. It was ALL working fine yesterday. Is this some glitch in the latest update? If s how doI go back to the one that actually worked? I send photos every day, to people bedridden, who need them; this is a serious problem for me.
