I am using Ubuntu 14.04 and Thunderbird, and i need to find a way of getting Thunderbird to show me what password it is using for each of my e-mail accounts - and how I can change those passwords without deleting the old account and setting up new ones.

I have some similar answers to similar issues, but those require that I go to "Tools" - "options" - and further from there, but I cannot find any "Options" menu anywhere in my version of Thunderbird. However, this shows me that this information must be possible to access somehow, also in my version.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thunderbird updated to 60.2.1 and Lightning disappeared. I followed the guidance in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird, and got Lightning back (V6.2.2.1). However, in Get Add-ons, it is still grayed out and listed as "incompatible with your version of Thunderbird", which is a bit disconcerting. My life is in my calendar, and I can't afford compatibility issues.

Is this just a matter of the add-ons library not having the most up-to-date version (or a bad compatibility checker), but what was somehow magically reloaded into my Thunderbird is completely fine? Or is the latest version that has been reloaded actually still incompatible in some way, and I'm waiting for the other shoe to fall with problems that will turn up later?

I have used Thunderbird for a few years and never had a problem until now. I am on Linux Mint and I updated to Thunderbird 60.2.1 I just launched it and the calendar (lightning) is no longer compatible with this version, this is stupid, the calendar feature is an important and integral part of any email system! I have six months of appointments, tasks and events just wiped out why update when something important like the calendar is not going to work. Can this be fixed? if not Thunderbird is no longer fit for purpose.

I don't want to have to start messing around installing an earlier version

Upgraded to Ubuntu 16 LTS. Thunderbird will not start. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird. Same result. When asked to start, the icon appears in the taskbar, flashes for say 30-45 seconds and disappears. I checked /var/log and could not find any Thunderbird log so have no idea what the problem might be. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

A couple of things. This is an effort at a first start for Thunderbird after the install so it has no accounts configured. Second- is there any way to start Thunderbird in safe mode from the command line?

Regards and many thanks

After upgrading to Thunderbird 60.2.1, I can no longer send messages. I'm running Linux 4.15.0-38-generic.

I get the attached error saying that I have problems with STARTTLS SMP. However, I have my connection security as SSL/TLS (second attachment). I haven't changed anything for years on my connection security. I successfully sent emails yesterday. Sending still works on my other machine (Windows) with v 59 and the same settings..

I can't delete messages on mozilla thunderbird on Linux Mint , none of the delete options works, so I found for myself a temporal solution, that consists on create a new folder inside the inbox, and then move the mails to that folder, then delete the folder. But however I think that's not a good solution to delete the mails, so I want an update if possible, for linux mint that solves this problem.

Hi everyone! I have a question, I have Thunderbird 38.6.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 with one account configured (let's call it address 1) and an additional identity configured only to send e-mail with a specific address (let's call it address 2). What I would like to do is: when I receive an e-mail directed to address 2 and I click on reply, I would like that in from: field I have the address 1. For every e-mail I receive, any time I reply, I would like to have always the address 1 selected in the from: field. How can I achieve this? Many thanks!

Using Thunderbird 60.0 under ArchLinux/XFCE.

Everything was working fine until the recent update to 60.0. Now when I open a message the fonts are sometimes very ugly – thin and washed out with occasional bold-looking appearance (for example the combinations “ti” and “tt” look almost bold face). It’s difficult to pin down exactly when the fonts are ugly, but sometimes messages look fine, sometimes the entire message is ugly, and sometimes only quoted previous messages are ugly. I’ve tried the following:

More→View Source: look for strange or specific encodings. Nothing unusual here, sometimes Content-Type: text/plain; charset=“utf-8” displays fine, sometimes it doesn’t. Couldn’t really find a correlation with charset.

Preferences→Display→ Fonts and Colors → Advanced: Check that legitimate fonts are chosen for the various options (serif, sans serif and monospace); tried switching to other fonts and that didn’t make a difference. Problem happens whether “Allow messages to use other fonts” is checked or not; some OK text reverts to the bad font when it is unchecked though.

On googling, I found this issue http://z-issue.com/wp/ugly-fonts-in-mozilla-firefox-and-thunderbird-under-linux-skia-and-cairo/ and had high hopes, but when I checked, my config file was already set to cairo.

Any suggestions out there?

Arch Linux, TB 60.0

In the date column of any folder in any mail account the date is shown incorrectly (-1h). The date and received headers are correct for all mails and the date is correctly shown in the preview pane. I would say that TB does not add the DST, because my timezone is CEST (+0200), but the date is shown for (+0100).

Settings: Regional settings locale for date and time formatting with: LANG=en_US.utf8 LC_TIME=de_DE.utf8

Things I have already tried: - Date() in the JavaScript console shows the correct time and date - Changing the display format to application locale does nothing except now I can see the wrong time in an am/pm format - Setting mailnews.customDBHeaders to 'Received' did not change anything

Just installed lubuntu 18.04 last night, with thunderbird 52.8.0. Some messages have wierd stuff in their From, Subject, or possibly other fields, that apparently causes graphics to be displayed in the field and superimposed over other messages in the pane that lists messages.

This may be a thunderbird bug. At first it seemed like an elementary failure to sanitize data from untrusted sources., but it may be some kind of malware that arrived as part of thunderbird or lubuntu, since the problem affects messages that I didn't notice a problem with prior to updating the OS and probably thunderbird. It affects a handful of messages out of thousands, but the large size of the graphics makes it difficult to ignore.

Examples excerpted from view source of messages with the problem.

(1) Subject: =?utf-8?q?=E2=9D=93=E2=9D=93The_return_of_=E2=80=A6_!_=7C_Le_retour_du_?=

=?utf-8?q?=2E=2E=2E_!_=E2=9D=93=E2=9D=93?=

displays some big red question marks

(2) From: =?UTF-8?B?QlJFQUtJTkcg8J+aqCAzMTQgQWN0aW9u?= <info@314action.org>

displays a red light as from the top of an old police car

Notes on support website:

General comment: I don't want to ask a question, I want thunderbird to fix its bugs, all of them. Forget glitzy new features. This is why I've been impervious to requests for donations. I would think (or hope) that as a non-commercial product, thunderbird wouldn't feel the need for competition on features like the commercial browsers do.

Btw add of image hung, either png or jpg. Firefox 60.0.1.
