Google is implementing new requirements for mail sent to Gmail account holders. Among other things, bulk mailers have to include certain new header information in emails that reference that the sender has implemented one-click unsubscribe.

Because I send out a newsletter to 40,000 subscribers using a separate mailing program, I have customized the headers there easily. But since I also send personal and/or single emails from Thunderbird using the same domain, I want to add a custom header so any individual emails from Thunderbird will also have the new header info and not be automatically deleted by Google/Gmail.

How can I add a customized header to emails I send from Thunderbird 115.4.1 to comply with Google's new requirements?

The lines I have to add are like this:

List-Unsubscribe-Post: List-Unsubscribe=One-Click List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:<MYNAME@MYDOMAIN.COM?subject=Unsubscribe&body=remove <a href="/en-US/kb/new?title=-Email-" class="new" title="Page does not exist.">-Email-

115.6.0 (64-bit) Supernova

Now all I see is a link. Worked perfectly before update. Something changed, not sure how to get it back. Images are properly in email body in other email apps.

Hello, I read somewhere that grouped folders were not possible with IMAP accounts. But with Win 11, TB 115.6.0 (64-bit) they definetly CAN be created and they are ALSO DISPLAYED (see pic). In order to display folders even more specifically, after that you can also make individual grouped folders favorite folders and display them as such. ONE / THE ONLY PROBLEM: If you close TB and open it again, those (and even no) folders are displayed anymore. However, the grouped folders and their settings are still there and will (only) be displayed again if you check the appropriate box for their display. I hope that it's not that difficult - and would be excellent - to implement so that the grouped folders and favorite folders (and also the "normal" or all previously displayed folders) and their view are just displayed unchanged even after restarting TB. So, in the simplest case, it's just a matter of the appropriate checking of the box for the folders display are set "automatically" when you restart TB / the computer (at least for the grouped folders, but keeping the Favorites folder would also be good, of course). In addition, after restarting TB, you wouldn't be shocked that all email accounts or folders seem to have disappeared. Could this be FIXED / IMPLEMENTED PLEASE? Then TB would be perfect! I want to use Thunderbird to back up all emails from our small business and I'm terrified of losing any. I believe the right way to go about it is to install Thunderbird, set up all email accounts as POP3 and make sure not deleted from server. But, I see that I have to set up my email before ensuring I don't delete off the server and, thus, the terror at setting up and then somehow missing the critical setting that doesn't delete off the server and pulling everything off the server into my backup.

Questions: 1) Is this the right way to back up (POP3)? 2) Is there a global default to never delete off the server? 3) For account specific, is there anything I can do to mitigate this? I'm ok doing this command-line too if there's a way to ensure the setting isn't 'missed'. 3) Is there a recommended flow for backing up email and then saving to S3 (might you consider adding this as a feature? Seems like many people would want this?)

Beginner or Luddite Question - I am seeking something like outlook, but NOT OUTLOOK. I lost so many contacts, connections, data and usability from that POS. Let's be clear. I am seeking something that will support the following: -having multiple email addresses for multiple businesses and organizations all in one place. - the ability to have individual signature boxes for each email address supported (as many as 12) - Something that won't crash on me and F*** up everything -I don't care if I have to pay, I want everything in one place easy to utilize. - I want a third-party VA to be able to get in under a common sign in and work under my name

Can Thunderbird do all this and more without having to hire a $500 per hour techie? If someone is for hire, how much is the charge?

recently I learned how to point all accounts "archive" and "junk" and "Sent" to "local folders". But, Thunderbird continues to isolate archived messages into a separate subfolder within each of my several email account(s) - I work with a unified inbox and prefer unified "Junk" and unified "Archive" and unified "Sent"... How do I do teach Thunderbird to start using the intended folder structure ?

I have several email accounts. I will like to know how to set one of them as my default account when sending messages.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've read the articles on creating a HTML Signature. I am a novice with it comes to HTML.

I have several email addresses on various ISPs. What I want to do is create one Signature file that extracts the account's email address so that I can use the signature file in more than one email account. Is there information somewhere about how to do this?

I am running Thunderbird 115.7.0 (32-bit) on a Windows 11 Home Dell laptop. Whenever I go to make a change in the settings or the account list, it does not save the next time I log in. 2 examples. I change the top of the message window menu from "Icons besides text" to "Icons Only", but if I close Thunderbird and come back in, the menu bar is back to "Icons besides text". This is annoying but bearable.

But recently, I tried to add another email/gmail account. I can add it without a problem, see my inbox, receive and send messages, etc. But again, when I exit the Thunderbird application and re-enter, the new account is gone and I have to add it again. Somewhere, a config file is not updating, but I don't know where. Any ideas? This is more of a "well, I guess I need to look for another mail client" problem.

I am trying to find, if it exists, the shortcut to go to the top of my emails. I have a lot of emails in the window and when I want to go to the top I am left scrolling. What is the shortcut?

I just got the new "supernova" update and now I can't find the stettings to place my tabs bar at the top of the screen. The old version had the tabs right at the top, just as a browser would typically have it as well (see new and old schreenshot for comparison). But I'm just unable to configure it that way.

Can anybody please tell me how to configure thunderbird to use all that wasted space at the top sensibly?

THUNDERBIRD email does not show download activity. Can't tell if there are no messages available or if there is a problem with the server. 115.8.1 64 bit on Linux Mint. Is there a setting that needs to be toggled ?

I would like to keep using imap (because directory synchronization and such) instead of pop, yet I also want to configure thunderbird to delete (expunge) emails from the server after a certain number of days while keeping them intact offline. The reason for this is that I want to keep an offline only archive because it is more secure.

I currently only see options to delete everywhere after N days or delete locally after N days, but I want to keep local and delete from the server. It looks like the server software my email provider uses doesn't have a setting for it either, so doing this in thunderbird is my best chance of getting ut done.

I don't see the solution to my questions. I have trouble READING and thus, I cannot see all the tiny answers!!! Is there not some SIMPLE solution to make all font BOLD in incoming email? I cannot see to search and sift through so many useess answers. I need exact, step by step, instructions. I don't know why this should be so difficult since so many people have visual handicaps. PLEASE HELP.

New version of Thunderbird keeps grouping messages in topics, If I change option to not group in View-> Order By -> Not Group it works for some time and then groups messages again.

My filtering for junk mail works really well. But I was wondering if there is already or is there a way to define a ctrl key sequence that will execute the function to delete all mail marked as junk in folder? I've searched and searched to no avail. Thank you

I have created many filters, and on the whole they work well. But I have one that doesn't work as I'd like it to. I have a friend with whom I correspond regularly, often with the words 'Lunch Club' in the subject line. My wife also corresponds with a (different) group and uses 'Lunch Club' in the subject line. I have set up a filter with the intention of filtering my friend's e-mails first, using his e-mail address (as in 'from contains friend's email'). There's a second filter that filters any subject line 'Lunch Club' into my wife's in-box. Unfortunately ALL 'Lunch Club' e-mails end up in my wife's in-box, including my friend's messages, even though his filter is run first. Having read through the article on setting filters, I begin to suspect that this may be intentional behaviour as described here (extract from Mozilla Support 'Organize Your Messages by Using Filters'): "Filters are executed in the order they appear in the list of filters, except when that order is not possible, in which case you will see the message Note: Filter actions will be run in a different order, and the link See execution order. If you click the link, you will see which order is used. For example: If you have a filter that moves a message to another folder, and then further down the list a filter that replies, the reply filter will not work because the message is gone from the folder. In this case, Thunderbird will change the order, so the reply filter will be executed before the move filter. " I don't recall ever having seen seen the link 'See execution order'. Is there a recognised way of avoiding this problem? Regards, Tim Dawson

Hello. As I see from other discussions topics, threaded folders are NOT popular. PLEASE can you offer an option, across the whole of Thunderbird, for NOT having emails threaded. Thuis INCLUDES, when using the Search features, where the reults appear as threaded, which is counter intuitive when searching for one particular message.

Hi!

I'm trying to help my elderly father with Thunderbird, but I just can't get it the way he used to have it.

The problem is that he wants to have a reading pane below the list of emails, and he no longer can make the list of emails show less, like only three emails or so. Because he has poor eye sight, he needs to have Windows on low resolution, and because of this, only half of his screen is used for actual showing the content of the email.

I have attached a screenshot of his screen, and as you can see, the reading pane at the bottom shows very little of the email. He can of course double click on it to get a full screen view, but he would prefere not to. So what he is asking for is how to make the box with the list of emails smaller, the box that is right above the reading box.

Hi, unfortunately my Thunderbird is not doing the line breaks for some of the fonts that I have received in an e-mail. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance
