Hello,
The new UI has this massive customizable toolbar at the top of the screen, it wastes a lot of space and doesn't look good compared to the old UI, you can fully customize it even leaving it blank but that does not remove it entirely and it looks off with just a blank nothing up there, where is the option to completely remove this new toolbar?

I like to have a dark theme (I do not wish to be dazzled by lots of bright white backgrounds).
But if I do that then the reader window is white on black, which I do no like. I prefer almost-black on light-grey. I can set this up. However, what I cannot do is set this in my Composition window without forcing those same colours onto all recipients, as the <body> tag ends up with my text="" and bgcolor="" tags on it.
If I set "Use reader's default colours" then I end up with the default colours from the reader (white on black) not what I have set (although this does remove the text and bgcolor tags).
So the problem I have is can either set the default colours in my Composition windows to what I am comfortable with or I can set them such that recipients can view them as they wish. But I cannot do both.
Is it possible to set the text and background colours form with a Theme? (Indeed, where is the documentation which describes what is settable within a Theme?).
After tbird updated yesterday, it restarted in dark mode, which I hate. How can I get it back to light mode? I cannot find this option in the settings

Hi, I have downloaded the latest Thunderbird and it is driving me mad because I KNOW there is a simple solution (I hope) When I used to open my emails they were all listed from oldest to newest and Thunderbird would automatically go to the bottom of the list where my latest (newest) emails were, NOT ANY MORE it goes to the older email in my in box, click date and YES the latest email rushes to the top of the list BUT I want it at the bottom HOW do I get the emails back the way I like them?

The new updates are horrible
I've been using TBird for a very long time and am thinking of leaving.
Fonts are now tiny. Can't read my mail without a struggle.
Even changing font size to be bigger in settings isn't helping, even after a restart. Fonts in mail are all too small to see. I don't have any system override set either.
Are you trying to drive older / disabled people away? Feels like it.
Please give one-button option for old look.
At this point I want to revert to last version but can't find download for old version.
Can you help me fix this please, or please show me link to get last version, and turn off updating.
For future: allow in updates to keep old look even with security upgrades. (I'd love even the old icon, but I'm sure that's asking a lot.)
IF THE LOOK ISN'T BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT. Making someone modern while tossing old users under the bus doesn't seem like your style, until today.
p.s. I'm sure other people have this problem but it's not clear how to find this forum. I first just replied to one of your tweets, but I doubt that will be read.

Currently on TB 115.3.1 but this problem existed on 102 and earlier. My email is all Pop (and not Imap).
I made filters to put some emails into the Local Junk folder and that works fine. The only emails in the Local Junk folder are those resulting from the actions of my filters. I've checked and the junk folder is the "Junk- Local folders" and not some other junk folder that I might have created.
The Local Junk folder setting (as well as individual mail account junk settings) is to automatically delete emails after 21 days. But nothing ever gets deleted and I have to delete manually.
Is there some master setting that I've missed somewhere?

In 115.8.0 (and earlier versions), the plain text Write window text area ignores the Colors shown everywhere else. Even if I choose Edit->Settings or Tools->Settings from the Write window toolbar, and select Composition in the Settings window, I get color choices that affect all other windows, and even the Write window header line and the dropdown menus from the Write toolbar, but NOT the Write window toolbar itself, nor the content I'm composing!
The text of the content I'm writing is decently visible, but the background behind it is medium gray, and the quoted text I'm replying to is a pale green almost indistinguishable from the pale gray background. Miserable for my lousy vision...
Is there some trick to getting that text area to follow the colors seen everywhere else in Thunderbird?

I have seen numerous posts on this forum involving the "Leave Messages on Server" option in the server portion of the Account settings. Many of these posts include responders stating that this option does not apply to POP servers.
If this is correct, why does Thunderbird even include this setting for an account that is explicitly designated as a POP server/account? This is an invitation to confusion and misunderstanding; I have been a victim of this. It seems to me to be a no-brainer to change the code to remove this option from these POP accounts.

I'm using the 64-bit version of thunderbird and I'm unable to increase the font size of the incoming messages in my inbox. I went to settings, general, Language and Appearance and under advanced changed fonts to 24, 20 and 20 while checking off the font control boxes. None of these changes the size of the text in the body of the text. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just today in Thunderbird, a new mail toolbar appears at top right just below the one I had before. I look in the View Toolbar choices, and it's not so much as an option there. The existing one at top left is listed, as Mail Toolbar (and I can uncheck it to make it disappear), and there are options for Customize (affecting the Mail Toolbar) and Menu (just above the mail toolbar). There's a quick filter option grayed out. But where did THIS come from, and how can I make it go away?
How do I change the font type (like from Ariel to Times New Roman) in Thunderbird. I've tried all the settings in Tools/Settings/General etc, nothing works.

In Windows 11, on Thunderbird, the top menus can't be set up so I can manage my messages fron the menu at the top. I have attached a snip of my beloved Win 10 TB menu. I also had to state the order of the messages for each folder. Why setting the order did not apply to all folders is beyond my understanding.
Is Thunderbird 64bit in Win 11 the reason for the differences. If so, is it possible to download the 32bit version as I was perfectly happy using it on my Win 10 PC.
