Hi. I have inherited a job where the email is Gmail. I inadvertently set it up in Thunderbird, and it downloaded about 1500 emails from the server. I don't want to delete them off the server, as I'll probably be passing the account onto someone else soon.

1/ So, will they redownload every day I open Tbird?

2/ If not, is there a way I can delete them off my Tbird, and they DON'T redownload, but stay on the server?

When I start Thunderbird, it asks for Master Password right away, and then again just after it opens up.

I asked question last year, but didn't get much response.

What can I do to just have it ask one time when starting Thunderbird? I tried disabling "check new messages at startup" on all accounts.

when i write a new mail i have this kind of letters , by sent or received mail, the letters are different, see my two screenshots. how can i install that the letters in a written mail are the same in each group?

As stated in the question, messages older than 1000 days are not deleted (this is a POP server). This is on my Desktop which is my primary PC. I also have a laptop using Thunderbird with "Leave messages on server" but with neither option (Number of days or Until I delete them) checked. The purpose of the laptop settings is that since it is not my primary PC I don't want it to delete anything from the server.

I did quite a few searches and the closest thing I found was another user who had migrated to Thunderbird after using another mail client for years, and it sounded like after they installed Thunderbird, they imported their old emails from the old client and then began using Thunderbird. The explanation they got was that any emails that had not been downloaded from the server by Thunderbird would not have a download date in Thunderbird and would therefore not be subject to the "older than xxx days" setting. That scenario doesn't apply to me because I have been using Thunderbird exclusively for at least 5 years, so all emails on the server that are less than ~1825 days (5 x 365) were downloaded by Thunderbird. All emails older than 5 years have long since been deleted from the server manually.

Either I am misunderstanding the "For at most xxx days" setting or something is not working properly.

I want to customize shortcuts in Thunderbird using tbkeys but I can't find the right command name.

In the description is written: "Most command names can be found in the main command set file of the Thunderbird source code."

But where I can found all/ more/ other command names?

In my case I want to change:

• "Move to previous UI element" (default: Shift + Tab)
• "Move to next main UI area" (default: F6)

I understand the basic differences between unread folders and unified folders what I don't understand is why two of nine my accounts are listed in both unified folders and unread (see circled in red) how do I remove the two accounts from unified folders or

add more to it
and what makes it confusing is that the subfolders aren't the same when listed in unified or unread

I recently purchased a new laptop and needed to migrate my old Thunderbird profiles. This is what I did: 1. Backed up profiles from old laptop 2. downloaded and installed latest version of Thunderbird on new laptop 3. coped profiles into \roaming directory 4. tested and successfully received emails and viewed all old emails.

The problem is that the Mail toolbar is nowhere to be found. Also, the calendar is missing. I tried right clicking on empty space and it only showed "menu bar" as an option. Attachment shows nothing in the toolbars option of View dropdown.

I have had to Restore my laptop. Since I have I can not seem to separate my email accounts. I wish them to be kept separate because I use different 'Signatures' for each account. Is there a way to separate the accounts in Thunderbird? If not How do I delete all the email accounts connected to the main email account, without affecting any email accounts outside of Thunderbird so that I can then add them individually?

I have two accounts in Thunderbird: comcast and gmail. For some reason there was a password problem when I tried to get email from comcast. I got that fixed but now gmail is showing up as a folder under comcast. It is in italics and grayed out (see picture). It cannot be deleted as when trying I get the message that the folder is non-existent.

There seem no way to move it either. I tried moving it to the gmail account but the server always says it is non existent but it does exist in my list of folders. There are also two folders under the gmail account, Ipad, and labone that cannot be deleted either.

Any help appreciated. Win10 TB 115.10.1 latest

I was able to change some of my message pane background by adding the following to the userContent.css file:

Why do I still get these two dark gray areas (see attached)? What css do I need to add to get them to be the lighter grey?

I want to change the reminder sound. I already downloaded a MP3 file and I selected it on "Reminders", "Use the following sound file". I can see the window that pops up, but no sound is played. Also when I click on Play, it doesn't work. I know the sound file is fine, thus I can play it on my laptop. What should I do? Another question, is there any Add-on with Reminder sounds?

I want to set unthreaded as default column view for all folders, and then that column view to be used on all new subfolders I create, but without having to use advanced settings various workarounds (it is and should be called for what it is...) which is currently the standard response when users is asking how to change from threaded to unthreaded column view. Why can't this setting be simply implemented as part of the standard gui?

is there a way to include or insert custom code into the head section of outbound Thunderbird emails?

Note that I am not talking about custom email headers, but custom html into the <head> section of outbound HTML emails.

The latest version of Thunderbird has lost the Advanced Search button. I can still access it from Control/Shift/F so the function is still there, but no obvious way of accessing it

Cox.com has decided to no longer have their own email server and switched their accounts to yahoo. I can read my email directly on Yahoo, but can't get their imap to work. I changed the imap and smtp settings to yahoo. Also, the email login has changed and I changed that in Thunderbird. With Cox, the login was just "username" and now it is "username@cox.net". When I made these changes in the account settings, my email account has disappeared from the inbox, but it is still in account settings. I am using a unified inbox with several accounts.

Cox will not help me with this, and I have been on hold with yahoo for an hour with no response. I have been messing with this for two days so I hope you can help me.
