I am transferring Thunderbird to a new computer (from pc to MacBook) for my grandmother and I am completely unfamiliar with the program. I was able to transfer the account via thumb drive, but when I try to send an email I am getting a message failed error. As I don't know anything about how Mozilla works and am fairly technologically illiterate, simple guidance would be greatly appreciated! I have tried to make all the settings on the new computer match the old, but am not getting anywhere. TIA!

I'm building a new laptop to replace my old, and have both installed Thunderbird on the new computer and have copied over the entire MAIL folder for my Profile.

All my subfolders appear and all seem to contain what they should...except my INBOX. The INBOX appears, but it is empty. The INBOX file that came over with what I migrated is around 2.9MB, so it sure isn't empty.

How do I fix this to be able to use my new laptop with my proper INBOX?

Just installed latest TB. Went to PB and copied the non-#PB# and non-.msf files to Mail/Local Folders, including the subfolders Nothing showed up. Tried the latest ImportExportTools - blank

Would love to get rid of PB but really need the old files.

-Made custom domain through cloudfare, lets call it 'solv@xdomain.com' , fully paid for and working -Registered it through iCloud mail on my iPhone and mangaed to get it working - Decide I would like Thunderbird client as main client so download - I follow steps of generating app-specific password for thunderbird, after entering my name and email 'solv@xdomain.com' correctly. Then I generated password through iCloud for non apple app, pasted it in and tried to log in - Server error, something wrong with password etc.

I have double checked everything and even re-installed thunderbird but it still comes with a server error. What can I do to use my own email address with thunderbird? Thanks solv

I can't download emails and get the message "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox." I know I have plenty of available disc space (>40GB) and I haven't changed anything. This happened overnight. Please help

So use to when I installed, I would loose all my folders and have to reset them up. When I downloaded the beta, all my folders on the cox server showed up as I would expect. Has this been fixed on new releases on a new version so that all I folders on the server will show up when I upgrade to the new version so I don't have to remember how to fix that? Was so pleased when I uploaded the beta version and all my folders were there, woooo hooooo.

P.S. Also love the newest version of K-9 Beta, I now use that for email on Android instead of BlueMail! Thank yo Guys, er, and Gals!

I have Thunderbird 115.9.0 (32-bit). Previously, I had no problem with the Dictionary. But now, I get no spelling suggestions at all. There is a blank space after "Language:" in the "Spelling" section of Settings > Composition

I have tried several times downloading the "English (British)" Dictionary and the Language pack In the "Add-on and Themes": in the "Dictionaries" section: "British English Dictionary (Marco Pinto)" is there and enabled. In the "Languages" section, "Language: "English" is present and enabled

When I am writing an email, clicking on the "Spelling" shows "English (United Kingdom)" with a tick next to it. I was not able to get a screenshot of this last item but I attach screenshots of all my other statements above.

What have I missed? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm using a Mac with OS 11.7.9, Thunderbird 115.7.0, my provider is Earthlink. There has been a problem recently where Thunderbird won't download my messages. I open Tbird, log in and the blue bar at the bottom stays on for a while then goes off, no email. If I hit the cloud button in the upper left corner of my Tbird window, it shows my email at the bottom of the screen, says downloading from host. It sometimes just shuts down, or will show how many messages there are to download and then shuts down, or shows the number of messages to download with the blue light bar at the right at the bottom of the page just scrolling without downloading the messages. Usually it just shows it has contacted the host, shows the number of messages it is going to download and just turns off in a few seconds. I tried clearing out messages from the Earthlink Webmail, in case there was a message causing the error, cleared a bunch of messages out of my Tbird inbox, deleted the messages built up in trash, cleared the caches of both Tbird and Firefox. I've used Tbird for years on the same computer I'm using now. Had this same problem a couple weeks ago, took a number of the same steps as per above, shut the computer down and restarted and Tbird was operating normally again until yesterday where the same problem started up again.

Upon finishing setup of Thunderbird for my work email addresses (IMAP on a server here in the building) I am getting all of my emails, but they are all marked as read any time I close and re-open the program. If I keep Thunderbird open it will push them through as unread until I open them as you would expect it to do normally.

I've experienced this on both a Spectre and a Thinkpad, so I don't believe it's the machine. The only thing these have in common that my others do not is that I have let the client automatically detect the settings on these two machines and on the others I copied over any settings along with the logins, like port or what have you. I'm not a network guy.

I haven't yet had time to delete the accounts and try setting them up individually, because by the time I open this and remember I'm already working. I'm hoping there's just something I can uncheck somewhere, because I use different machines for different purposes and accounts and having everything marked as read all the time is a problem.

Since (I think) installing the latest version of TB SuperNova 115.7.0 (64-bit) emails are not stored on my MacBook. They load, I can send emails but they disappear and all my various folders over the years are empty. From Synchronization & Storage I have "Keep messages in all folders for this account on this computer" checked. When I log into my "Google Mail" account I see all some of my previous mail. Very confusing. Obviously a setting someplace but where else to look Thanks for any advice.

I am setting up Thunderbird on a new computer. I have installed the most recent version of TB. I have different att/yahoo emails that are separate att/yahoo accounts and not linked. When I set up the first account, it downloads all folders and emails perfectly. However, when I set up the next account, it will only download the same folders/emails from the first account. They are both set up as IMAP with unique usernames and passwords. I had the same issue when I transferred the TB profile from the old computer. I have no issues with different google email accounts. I have uninstalled TB and deleted all folders with no change when setting it up again. I have cleared all cookies on all browsers and closed them. Any solutions?

Every 2 years, when a new Ubuntu LTS version comes out, I need to migrate my cloud based mail server. After I have transferred the domains and set DNS to the new server IP, I always have the problem, that my existing thunderbird imap mail accounts don't work properly anymore. K9 mail on my android devices doesn't have this problem. Sending mails does work, but the imap connection to my mail accounts is broken. I tried using the IP of the new server instead of its DNS name, but this didn't help either. The only way that works, is to add a new account. This is very nagging as I then need to manually edit all my adapted settings and my various mail identities. Is it a generic problem with TB, possibly with the server certificates? Or is there another way to change the imap server of an existing account?

I use Owl to receive my emails on Thunderbird. This has been working fine, but stopped round about my renewal date. I have re-added all my account details and can get the data to come up, but it doesn't stay. Every time I close Thunderbird, so all the folders and emails disappear too. Please help. I have tried contacting the Owl Support several times by email, but they have not replied!

ANY help will be MUCH appreciated because, simply put - I freakin' HATE Gmail's interface.

Whenever I try to log in to my TB stuff, I get...

400. That’s an error.

The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know.
