can you please help me use Thunderbird, until recently, i was able to use the Mail client program Mozilla Thunderbird, which we had on my computer before. Since October 7, Thunderbird cannot synchronize messages - the message, login to server outlook.office 365.com with username....failed. Has something changed in the settings and how can we use Thunderbird again? Sending a picture of the problem in attachment.

My mailbox display suddenly began displaying a red axe head in the second column, for unread messages. What is this, what does it mean, and why did it suddenly appear?

how to regain access after your recent update did something to Thunderbird. The computer I am using for this has not yet received that update. I have a great deal of difficulty downloading stuff, so I usually need to hire a techie to do that for me. Hopefully you can fix this for me.

Is there a way to format the phone number field either automatically with a default format type, or all numbers at once, in all contacts?

For example, I want 5551235555 formatted as (555) 123-5555 or even just 555-123-5555. The numbers I have now are mixed formats and it is driving me nuts.

Hoping someone can help, I'm setting up my Gmail account and have copied all the settings over exactly from my old laptop and have generated a new 'app password' in Gmail. Thunderbird pops up a Google login page then it is saying it can't connect to the server. Everything is working fine on my old laptop with configuration exactly the same (except for the use of older but still active app password).

I don't think Google allows me to see my old app password, only generate a new one, but as the new one won't work I'm thinking that maybe Google somehow knows I'm using POP email on two machines and won't allow this until I delete the old app password. Does anyone have experience of this? Just don't want to delete the password in case it stops working on both laptops! Also note that I don't want to disable 2 step authentication as this makes my account less secure and it has been working fine for years with this enabled.

Hello again...This is a repeat of my earlier problem, but I sent the wrong image. Just to keep the thread, I added a previous image. Last error was referring to a bad rendering of my Manitoba Hydro online Bill... Now, how can I remit payment with this image??? progeny was "from mi06-ssvc.dcs.int.inet (LHLO mi06.dcs.int.inet) (10.0.141.211) by cds226.dcs.int.inet with LMTP; Wed, 16 Nov 2022 09:51:30 -0700 (MST)... see attached images.

I am receiving the following message: The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving message. Mail server.comcast.net responded: Message 9 expunged.

The message number does change each time I try to download my messages. Thanks for any help. Rob

When trying to send an attachment that is 8.5Mb I keep getting the following time out error. "Sending the message failed The message could not be sent because the connection to the Outgoing sever (SMTP) mail primus.ca timed out. Try again." I've contacted my provider, but have yet to hear back. Is there a setting that can be changed to overcome this issue?

Hello, have any of you encountered such a problem as different email content than it should be? On the main server the content is correct, only through the thunderbird application I encountered such a problem. Is there any solution to this problem ?

Almost every time I start Thunderbird it says I have to restart to complete an update. It seems to be in an update "loop". It advises an update is available but it's 102.2.0 which is already installed! And this interference perhaps is causing the program lock up when I delete some read messages, so the only way out is a shutdown via Task Manager.

Just installed Thunderbird Beta 112.0b3 (64-bit) a couple of days ago, getting the feel of this one and doing OK, but found an issue.

Buttons (screenshot supplied) are not working (not taking me anywhere) except for the calendar one, which works OK

Any feedback or instructions to correct this would be appreciated.

Hi, I get an error message every time I try to send an email. The message is in the text below. I only started to get this message since I've gotten a new laptop. I tried to turn off my firewall and virus protection, and I changed the ports to what the support says. It is still showing up with this error message. Can anyone help me fix this?

the error message says: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail sever responded: (it says a long number/letters here and ".cpe.net.cable.rogers.com" with more numbers behind it)>:Client host rejected: Access denied. Please check the message recipient. MANY Years of experience in this Industry has taught me that the Most "UNSTABLE" types of Files, across Numerous Different Manufacturers and Products are Email Files. Trying to Migrate (Often IMPORTANT) emails from one system to another as the Computer Industry advances too fast for its own good, OFTEN results in the LOSS of Data, and Duplicating the Contents of emails in different File Types, before Migrating, Compacting, or whatever, takes FAR TOO LONG. So I've learnt to LEAVE The Files ALONE and Try to keep Duplicates, when time permits. I'm a New User of Thunderbird (because my previous Microsoft Product was "losing" files) and today, for the First Time I was ask to allow Thunderbird to COMPACT its files. I worry that this will make the Files HARDER / SLOWER to Access, MORE LIKELY to be LOST, and LESS EASY to Migrate at some time in the future. My Computer has TONS of Unused Space, so I have no Personal Need to Recover the 230MB Thunderbird is telling me it will Free Up.

What is your recomendation - based Primarly on the RELIABILITY and SECURITY of my Data.

Does Firefox save a backup copy of things like address book and archives? It so, where and what are the file names? How do I prevent future updates from removing important data? HELP!

I have used Thunderbird for many years but an issue thats started a few updates ago has me thinking of ditching it. I buy and sell online a lot and always create a folder for each purchase or item for sale, so I can easily keep track of emails. Then when the sale is completed I delete the folder (I do have back ups if I need them). After an update recently, every time I delete a folder Thunderbird expands the entire Trash folder. Its driving me mad. Why is it doing this? How can I stop it doing this please? I've looked through all the settings but cant find one relevant. I am using version 116.6.1. Thank you

I have four Gmail accounts which I'm phasing out because of the absurd Google policies and convolutions. I've added four new accounts with another, my own mail hosting service. all the four Gmail accounts I have set to forward all to thee new accounts.

The problem is every time I start up Thunderbird it defaults stubbornly to the previous Gmail account which subsequently it cannot log in and for a password.

I tried everything, setting the other account as default account, unchecking server settings [i.e.check for new messages at start up].

Since I have much (downloaded) information still in subfolders that I need to access from time to time I have not yet deleted that account.

Nothing seems to work, every time I start Thunderbird it immediately goes to that previous default Gmail account and then prompts me for "mail server password required".

The strange thing is that the other remaining three Gmail accounts which have identical settings do not create a problem.

how can I make this stop for once and for all?
