Title. Thunderbird is a really cool client but it's pretty slow. I blame that on the thousands upon thousands of emails that my hotmail and gmail each hold. I don't necessarily want to delete these emails, but I have seldom a reason to have any email older than 2 months in my thunderbird client slowing and crashing the program whenever I want to combine inboxes.

To this end I went to "Synchronization & Storage" and told it to "Synchronize the most recent 2 months" but it didn't delete the huge cluster of older emails. The next option is to tell TB to delete these emails in the same menu but as I understand it that would also delete them in the server, which I don't want to do for posteriority.

What do I do?

This is the message I get when trying to send emails: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: pgbentley101@gmail.com recipient rejected. Please check the message recipient "pgbentley101@gmail.com" and try again."

I searched and I know others have had this issue as well but so far, none of the solutions that I've found have fixed it. This just started happening yesterday randomly in the middle of my work day, NOTHING had changed! One minute, I could receive emails and then next, this error started to appear: Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox.

I can still GET EMAILS ON MY IPHONE and can STILL SEND EMAIL via Thunderbid - I just cannot RECEIVE EMAILS IN THUNBDERBIRD ANYMORE!

Any solutions? It's really a pain to have clients emailing me and have to check and respond to those on my phone.

all of the sudden all messages are downloaded and immediately disappear. Also all folders appear empty. I cannot access anything I have saved, neither can I keep received messages in the mailbox.

Recent update switched all folder to show messages grouped into threads. This makes it harder to find new messages. As a result I did not see an email inviting me to a job interview for 2 months. Far too late to act on it.

Updates should NOT change any configuration settings. This is NOT acceptable.

Also, I have a lot of folders. There seems to be no way to set them all to unthreaded all at once. So now, I have to go through them one by one changing them back to the way it was.

I needed that job desperately and now I'm screwed. If I don't find a job in the next couple of weeks, I could be homeless.

The irony is that I have over 35 years of experience writing software but I can't find a job because of age discrimination.

I was using the previous version of Thunderbird (115.10.0) (64-bit), which was crashing upon exit. I tried to update by clicking on Help and About Thunderbird, but it didn't automatically update to the newer version (115.10.1 (64-bit)). So the instructions I followed was do download the new version. However, when I open the new version, all my email accounts and calendars are missing. How do I restore my old profile?

Last year my computer suddenly died and could not be revived. When the new one was set up and Thunderbird was installed, my previous email, files and address book did not come with it. The ONLY thing it saved was a bunch of worthless list of sent emails. It was devastating to lose my address book! Why did this happen? I still have the hard drive from the old pc. Would that help? But then I'd have to hire someone since I don't know anything about hard drives. Now I'm in fear of this happening again. How to prevent this? And how to backup my irreplaceable files? I can't find a way to dupicate a Contact List in Thunderbird V115.5.2 (newest).

Also, the instructions online from 2021 don't work, as I can't highlight any Contacts and Control, Copy them into a new list.

I'm having trouble with my Thunderbird password. I have 2 emails with identical settings and passwords. One works fine. The other's asking me for my password. When I enter what I knew for certain was the password I get the message, "Login to server imap.comcast.net with username weissfamily@comcast.net failed." I successfully changed the password still get the same error message. Also I get a Thunderbird popup that says, "Alert from account weissfamily@comcast.net: 1014." This is all above my pay grade. I installed the beta version of Thunderbird without realizing it's incredibly difficult to switch back to stable, so I'm stuck with beta. In beta, can someone explain the reasoning to me behind why calendar shows a view-only window when double clicking an event title instead of going directly to the editing window? It was so much easier to edit events before:

double click the title > start editing

Now, in beta, both ways to edit an event require extra steps:

right click title > click edit > scale the window larger > start editing or

double click title > scale the window larger > click edit > scale the window larger again > start editing.

It doesn't make any sense. I can't think of any reason for having two separate window states for an event - you don't need a display view and an edit view, because they both display the same information. Just have it open directly into the edit view like it used to.

Windows 10 64bit Pro Thunderbird SUPERNOVA 122.0b1 (64-bit)

I am unable to download thunderbird installer file from www.thunderbird.net. I still get an error message that Windows 11 can't read the source file.

I already downloaded my thunderbird to a new desktop and my profile and all my mails are visible. But, ehen Im only trying to export my addressbook/contacts which are missing still from new computer pressing the address book under tool and export lets me only download a complete zip file. And the desktop when i want to import the addressbook coz it wants it as a first choice as csv and then some similar choices. Where has gone the possibility to download only addressbook to usb stick and then import only the addresses as csv to the new one. This seems to be very complicated. Or are there any specific files in the system which contain the addresses and I could just copy them from my laptop and replace them to the same place where contacts are ususally stored to make the new computer understand and get use of them. I see many people have hard time with this issue and now it seems itsbeen made very difficult. So better to move to another email svc or do you have an easy solution for this?

I was about to donate to Mozilla as I am a long time user of Thunderbird. Do to my computer being hacked and entire password file stolen I've decided when placing any charges to my credit card I use a generated virtual card number. The app that generates the number is an extension in my Chrome browser. I've used this app before when making purchases; The app auto generates a virtual number and can send the required information to the vendors credit card purchasing page. However, I tried this when donating to Mozilla and the popup locks me out of the virtual number app so that I can't "send" the information over to the Donation popup. I don't use G-PAY, PayPal or any other third party processor. Maybe Mozilla doesn't allow the use of virtual credit card numbers. Anyway, my intention was to donate. Any suggestions that will allow me to use my preferred payment method?
