What is happening? How do I get my emails? I don't have a password for Thunderbird even though I've been using it for many years. I can't contact anyone. Listen, I'm 83, I can't cope with huge changes like this nd I'm panicking! How will you contact me if I can't access email?

Odd Behaviour When Composing A Message

I think I must be missing something. Here is what I am seeing:

Using Thunderbird (v115.4.1 64bit), start a new email message. Go right to the Composition area of the new message and do the following:

  • Turn on Bold
  • Turn on Underline
  • Type BBB
  • Hit return twice
  • Turn off Bold
  • Turn off Underline
  • Type C

When I do that C does not get typed. I have to type it a second time. Further if there is text underneath where the C is going to go, some text and possibly a line will be deleted especially if it is blank.

Is there a way to turn off this behaviour?

Using version 115.3.3 vertical view, folder pane, message pane. running on a 4K monitor at almost full window size the combined inbox automatically scrolls when I am deleting messages and the messages I am working on move the top out of view. I then have to scroll back down to see the message. Then it will again auto scroll to the top out of view. This is making thunderbird useless as it is wasting my time scrolling endlessly to see my messages. How can I disable the scrolling on the inbox?

I've been using Thunderbird for YEARS, with 4 different accounts and 10 identities. As you can imagine, I have a ton of rules to help organize my emails.

It just self-upgraded to 115.3.3 yesterday, and suddenly, I have NO RULES.

I can get used to the new look & feel. But to lose all of my rules? Really? Come on man!

I keep telling thunderbird that messages are not junk, but it keeps putting them back in the Junk folder. The messages come from people in my address book. What the f... is going on? It is extremely annoying. I have been using thunderbird forever. I would have to switch to microsoft software. Please help!

Thunderbird Issue

When I open a message in my att.net inbox, thunderbird opens it in a Write window as if I am going to send it instead of just reading it. The From field is my att.net add… (Lesen Sie mehr)

When I open a message in my att.net inbox, thunderbird opens it in a Write window as if I am going to send it instead of just reading it. The From field is my att.net address (poohpah@att.net), The Reply-To field is the sender of the message, and the To field is my att.net account. There is also a yellow box at the bottom of the window that says:

  "A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The message will be sent using the current From field and settings from identity dennis george <poohpah@att.net>"

This does not happen in my gmail.com account - it opens messages normally. Version is 115.4.1 (64-bit)

Outgoing smtp from Thunderbird has stopped since update. I have reviewed all the documentation and been in contact with my provider and still have been unable to resolve the problem. I am very frustrated with this issue. I attempted the SSL/TLS reversion back to version 1 and this did not help.

I have tried changing the port number to that suggested my my provider which for outgoing is supposed to be 587, although 24 has always worked. They also suggested changing the server name to mail.twc.com which did not work. They suggested the full email in the User Name field, which I did with various combinations of port numbers and server names and none have worked.

When I attempt to send I get the following error: The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp-server.rochester.rr.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

When I use changed settings as described above I just get a timed out error as though there is no connection at all.

Screenshot of SMTP settings as they have always been attached. Email provider rochester.rr.com. ISP Spectrum. No firewall. Virus protection Bitdefender v. 27.0.23.112. OS Windows 11 Home build 22621.2428. Thunderbird version 115.4.1

In August I stopped being able to send out emails through Thunderbird, but I still was getting incoming mail. My family are all computer nerds but they couldn't figure it out. I talked to the Spectrum Help and they figured out what changes to make in the Thunderbird settings for port numbers to make the new version work, but there was one last change they couldn't manage. They figured out that there needs to be a place in the Thunderbird settings to put in my Spectrum password, for incoming mail. There is one for outgoing mail (the choices were to put in the password or to click on "not necessary", and I used "not necessary") but there is no choice for incoming mail. With the changes they made, I can no longer get incoming or outgoing mail, so I have had to use the Spectrum website to manage the email and it is absolutely horrible, limited, disorganized and very, very slow. I desperately need to fix this. I need to talk to someone in real time, but I can't find a phone number on your website. Why is there no resolution to the problem so many of us are experiencing? Thunderbird just QUIT downloading email. I lost 20 folders full of data from older emails that I can never recoup. And Thunderbird still won't work. We all need answers NOW!!!!!! Really funny that there is a link at the bottom to email me when there is an answer!!!!

I recently created a new profile for thunderbird. I have had multiple problems with this new version 115.3.1 (32-bit). Very frustrated.

I am using a gmail account and thunderbird as client. When I recreated IMAP account to new profile, it makes EVERY correspondent the same person. I use the account for forum emails from an organization where like professionals share information and it is private. The new profile takes the name of one member and puts that in all prior emails, rather then having the correct sender name. I had no problem with my prior profile and cant figure out why Thunderbird is doing this?? I a different email account it did the same thing with a different organization and it put same correspondent name on most, but not all group emails.

I am guessing its how thunderbird is reading the message source code. Shouldn't it be taking it from the "FROM" tag in it.

I appreciate any suggestions or comments. I still have my old profile and can use that with no problem. Also gmail online email stuff is fine, so it has to be Thunderbird that is deciding to input one correspondent's name for forum email. I don't understand why or how to fix.
