About 3-4 days ago, images no longer appeared inline and there isn't a button to show images, just an empty box. My T'bird is set to auto update, so not sure if an update caused this? Not sure if it's related, but at the same time, my rss feeds stopped due to "invalid security certificates." I did not make any changes to previous settings. Thanks for any suggestions!

I had to delete and add back several accounts due to a change in servers (cox.net to yahoo.com). Prior to this I just had the All Folders, Local Folders and below. Now I have the Unified Folders and below, which are essentially a duplicate of the folders in the old All Folders. (See attached image) Not only is it making things confusing but I'm storing duplicate emails and it seems to be affecting performance, Thunderbird now randomly quits and restarts. So, how do I delete either the All Folders or the Unified Folders and move the few sub folders that are unduplicated into the remaining group?

Every few days, the index pane of some folder gets corrupted. Repair (right-click, Properties, Repair Folder) fixes it. Then a few days later this repeats, with a different folder. I have three IMAP accounts and this occurs on more than one of them.

Any suggestion for finding and fixing the underlying problem?

Since the latest upgrade to 115.10.1 (64-bit) I have an issue about running Thunderbird.

From a clean Windows 11 start up it is OK but then if I then Exit and then try to run the bird again it does not start.

Digging around I discovered using Task Manager, a number of Thunderbird processes run after I had Exited. See attached.

Any thoughts?

emails load very slowly or the app stalls & doesn't respond. Often I have to tap twice to open an email. When deleting an email it can take a couple seconds especially when deleting multiple. I can hit the delete button several time & have to wait several seconds for it to finally catch up. This has been happening for a few months now & is getting worse. Sometimes the pictures in the message load one at a time. It was working right, then one day it started lagging & hasn't been right since.

A while ago, I had to work offline so I had TB download my Gmail account messages. Now I no longer want these messages to be stored locally, because the Thunderbird folder is up to 10Gb, so I unchecked the box in Synchronization for 'Keep messages in all folders for this account on this computer'. I was hoping the TB would subsequently purge the offline folders, but apparently not. Is there a way to clean out the folders without affecting my online Gmail folders as in Inbox and Sent folders?

About 2 weeks ago, Thunderbird stopped sending emails. I spent a couple of hours on the phone with tech support but was unable to correct the issue. Changed all of the settings several times, SMTP server, port, security and authentication without success. Tech support suggested using their server but that's a pain. Attached are pictures of the error messages. Thanks.

Other than just the setup, how do I get Thunderbird to use "POP" rather than "IMAP" protocol for email? Until March of this year, I had Thunderbird setup as a "POP" client for email downloads from Frontier. And, then Frontier moved all of their email services to Yahoo and in the process, my Thunderbird wound up using "imap.mail.yahoo.com" instead of "pop3.frontier.com". I don't want IMAP - I want POP. So, I tried changing that in Thunderbird setup to "pop.mail.yahoo.com", but it does not respond.

Posted this before, got no answers, not even a "no, there's no cure for that." Hoping for better this time.... My inbox suffers from disappearing email sometimes, and using the properties>repair cure works okay as far as I can tell (if someone emails me and doesn't ask about it later, how would I know?). But it has happened frequently enough, half a dozen times a month or more, that I do the repair by default pretty much every day just to be safe. That's easy but still a pain. Does nobody in MozillaWorld know a more permanent solution to free me from my constant missed mail paranoia? As I said, a reasonably authoritative "No, there isn't" is perfectly fine and much better than radio silence. Regards!

I'm about the 100th person to have this problem, so I have spent the better part of two days looking at all the threads and possible fixes. Like all the others, with no warning, my TBird stopped being able to send messages through Spectrum. It did NOT start immediately after I updated TBird to 115.9.0 (in March) but just three days ago. I have three roadrunner addresses in TBird, and one other one associated with a website I have. All have the same problem. My phone and my iPad send messages just fine.

I tried all the fixes that worked for some. They didn't work for me; I continued to get various, inconsistent Send Message Errors. I have come back to the recommended Spectrum setup for the outgoing SMTP server: mail.twc.com, Security is STARTTLS, Port 587, Authentication is Normal Password, my username is my email address. Of course the problem is not fixed.

What DID work was putting TBird in Troubleshooting mode, using the Spectrum setup above. While that is adequate, I would much rather find out what is wrong. I have Matt's 10/7/23 11:56 AM answer to someone, asking for the Troubleshooting Information. I will be glad to supply that but I need an answer to this message in order to do that. Thanks! Demaris

Hello. I have a new MacBook M2. Thunderbird ver. 115.10.01 (64-x). Very high consumption of memory and energy resources of the laptop. The email client simply eats up the battery! I didn't install any add-ons. Everything is out of the box. Reinstallation didn't help. What is the problem and what should I do?

Should I delete thunderbird and then install a 2020 version where this was not a problem or is there a way to solve the problem with the latest current version

Yesterday I downloaded Thunderbird to Windows 10 (64-bit), added my Office 365 (for work or school) account, rocketmail account and iCloud account. I created unified folders for the three accounts. I have downloaded the TBSync add-on with the required CavDev (?) one to connect my iCloud calendar.

After successful use the first few times, now Thunderbird becomes unresponsive within 5 seconds of opening, every time, rendering the program unusable.

Troubleshooting mode does not fix the problem, so I assume it's not the add-ons, nor does starting my PC in Safe Mode (F4 at startup ie no networking), so I assume it's not antivirus.

I uninstalled Thunderbird and re-installed from the website today. All my accounts were there (so I wonder if the uninstall didn't work properly, although I assume that it's just the files left on my computer that the new Thunderbird installation is accessing).

All these attempted fixes leave the problem unchanged: the window freezing within seconds of opening.

Because the program becomes listed as 'not responding' and greys out on further clicks, I have to hard-close the program using Windows, selecting 'Close the progam'. Clicking 'Wait for the program to respond' leaves the screen greyed out, and nothing changes for at least 20 minutes (the maximum I've tried waiting it out). This also means that it does not yield a formal crash report, because Thunderbird does not recognise it has crashed.

On one occasion it did create a crash report, which I submitted. I am not sure what behaviour allowed this to happen, and I have been unable to reproduce it. That particular crash ID was as follows:

Any help much appreciated! I'd love to stick with Thunderbird if possible.
