Thunderbird downloads and duplicates my mail all the time. It's clogging up my computer. I know that I have a 50Gb mailbox and I have almost 200Gb of files on my disk, so I think it downloads e-mail from time to time.

Hi, I am not sure how it happened, I am now in a position where I can't use my Thunderbird properly. Every time I open TB, it asks for "please enter your Primary Password" which I don't have/deleted? If a try to remove the tick from "Use a Primary Password" it opens a box requesting my Current Password, I have tried the last one and the one before, none are accepted. When I search in Saved logins, it seems to me to be empty. in short I seem to need a current password to change my password. It is a vicious loop. After updating Thunderbird to 115.5.2 I receive an error when I check (get) messages of my gmail account : 'The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and size......'. However, the messages do come in and so the error turns out false. since the authorization (OAUTH2) credentials are accepted.
I have my server settings check messages from startup; every 5min; automatically download new messages. That works fine. Again only when I goto "Get Messages" the error shows up.
What is wrong here and ho do I fix this? Thank you

When I try to: 1) click and drag an email's attachment to my desktop, I get an "Unspecified Error" dialog box. 2) use the Save button (on the bottom right of the attachment line), the saved file is zero size. These occur if the email is shown in TB or in a separate window.
Workaround: When I click and drag (or save) the EMAIL to my desktop, the resulting file is an '.eml' file, which I able to "open with" TB from Windows Explorer -- this attachment is valid, if I click open or save it.
I am running Windows 7/TB Supernova 115.3.3 (64-bit)
I don't deal with many email attachments, so I am okay with the workaround, but would like find a way to correct this issue.

i just reinstalled my whole pc, win10 64. I exported my profile including all possible data, the .zip was too big to import so i copied it into the profile folder, on my desktop, in another foldet etc. But i always get the error message shown in the picture. This is my only chance to have access to my (partly) old email accounts... that's why i followed all steps, but i cannot import everything. I REALLY need your help and would appreciate it A LOT.

Thunderbird on my top of the range Win11 laptop was working perfectly until it self-updated to 115.10.1 a couple of days ago. Accessing messages already in the various folder is fast as usual. Unfortunately anything like deleting, downloading a new message is excruciatingly slow : several seconds to click and delete in the inbox. Several seconds to access a message just downloaded. The first time it happened I had a whole bunch of messages deleted because the I kept clicking when I saw no action. It seems to me like it has problem updating the messages in the inbox. Very painful for something that was working so well.

Please contact me directly at [removed phone# from public support forum] when you have fixed this. For reasons I have just outlined, email is not a good way to communicate.

My wife and I each have our own Thunderbird accounts. They were created a long time ago, at different times. I’m pretty sure that they were not set up identically. She has recently experienced a problem: the number of new emails downloaded (as shown in the lower left corner of the screen) doesn’t match with the number of new and unread emails listed in the Inbox (the emails shown in boldface). Something else, though I think related: In the upper left corner of the screen, on the same line as the word Inbox, is a small circle with a number inside. I think that number gives the number of unread emails in the Inbox. Her number shows 20 but the actual number (boldface) is 15. Is this a serious problem? Is it a problem at all? If so, how to fix it? Thanks.
