So, recently my keys expired, and I extended the expiry data via Kleopatra, a nice interface that comes with the GPG4Win suite - and I exported those keys out to the keys.openpgp.org keyservers. When I search for those keys at openpgp.org, they have the proper, updated expiry dates - and they show as that in Kleopatra - but when I see those keys (and all the exact same imported third-party public keys I've pulled into Kleopatra), they have the old expiry dates, and I cannot sign or encrypt emails. It's quite annoying.

What gives?

Also, what keyserver does Thunderbird use?!?

I sent an E-mail from my account using Thunderbird 102, signed and with added public key but not encrypted. I inspected this mail in the mail server account of the recipient. It contains two attachments: 1) An openPGP asc file which contains the key ID in the name. When opened it shows my ASCII armoured public key. 2) A .sig file: "OpenPGP_signature.sig" When I inspect the same mail in the Thunderbird program of the recipient, it possesses only the first attachment. The sig file is missing. When I try to decrypt or verify the .sig file using Kleopatra or using GpgEX from the Windows Explorer menu, I get error messages like „Signaturfile invalid“ or „input/output error“.

How can I check the validity of the sig file or better, how can I open it to see the complete clear text and decrypt the encrypted part ?

I would be grateful for infos or links to answer my questions ! Sincerely WW

Back in April three Security Exception windows started popping up in TB 102.11.2 (not sending mail or retrieving mail) and if I view it, the certificate shows an expired date. The port being accessed is 2080.

  host2016.hostmonster.com:2080

I don't seem to be missing any mail and they just popup on their own at times (something in the background?). I use IMAP settings and Eset as my AV. It doesn't happen to my wife's TB install and she uses the same email server and AV. It happens on all four computers where I have my account being accessed by TB.

I have scanned the PC with ESET NOD32 and Malwarebytes and neither reports viruses. I don't want to override the warning so I have to close the three windows over and over and over and I am going mad....

I turned off the eset feature that says to ask if a SSL exception is reported. I set it to block, not ask, and rebooted. The popups continue and the email provider support says their certificates are up to date.

Anyone know why port 2080? Could it be related to something other than inbound and outbound email that TB is trying to access?

Hi, I am using Thunderbird as an email client. I don't use any ESET product myself, but I have to retrieve mail from a an Exchange-mailserver that requires ESET 2FA. The first login step seems to work, and then an ESET-authentication window pops up but the contents of the window remains blanc, so there is no way to enter my one-time code. This happens both if I approach the mailserver as an Exchange server, and if I approach the mail server through the OWA-protocol (using Owl). Known problem? Any suggestions? Should this be an issue for Thunderbird or for ESET?

I used to have no problem accessing gmail until they stopped allowing less secure app access. Every since then whenever I tried to access my gmail accounts with Thunderbird I get the message "Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com". I have done research and made sure I have all the correct settings regarding OAuth2 and cookies and whatever in both Gmail and Thunderbird. But I have never been able to get it to work.

Then suddenly out of the blue I get this login screen for Google that opens in a new Thunderbird window that I haven't seen before. I mean I hadn't even upgraded or restarted Thunderbird for a very long time and it's just been opened in the background working away. So who knows what happened to make that appear. In any case, after I logged into my Google account using that Thunderbird window, and went through the million security notifications from Google about it, I was actually able to access my Gmail account at last.

The trouble now is that I have several Gmail accounts. And I can only access one this way. The others still give me that authentication error. I have checked to make sure that all account settings are exactly the same, and they are.

What can I do to get my other Gmail accounts working in Thunderbird? Is there anyway I can trigger Thunderbird into giving me that Google login windows for my other accounts?

Hello

Can someone tell me if Thunderbird supports RFC 4021 to allow us setting the sensitivity level of a message ?

RFC Link : https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc4021#section-2.1.55 Related Microsoft webpage : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/mark-your-email-as-normal-personal-private-or-confidential-4a76d05b-6c29-4a0d-9096-71784a6b12c1 Other mail clients support it : https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail/blob/master/FAQ.md#user-content-faq177

But it seems TB doesn't support it... and this is usefull in my company (we setup rules based on it, like blocking forwards when "Personal" is set).

Thanks for the information

Like others, 90% or more of my OUTGOING emails TO gmail accounts are rejected. However 100% Iof gmail accounts are received.

  • Google advises to Verify your domain name by entering the following code:
  • Verify your ownership of your-domain.com
  • Your DNS TXT verification record was not found. You might need to wait a few minutes before Google sees your changes to the TXT records. Please try again.
  • 1. Add the TXT to the DNS configuration for your-domain.com
  • TXT record:
  • google-site-verification=hfwwN3kcDCYXdd73jbxVTScYmf2Meo0Yr8jylwf15dU
  • 2. Click Verify
  • When Google finds the DNS record that you have added, we will verify your ownership of the domain. To stay verified, do not remove the DNS record, even after the verification succeeds. (DNS changes may take some time and if we do not find the record immediately, we will check for it periodically.)
  • Note: On successful verification, your account will also have access to the domain's data on Google Search Console.

Where in Thunderbird to I enter this TXT into the DNS Verification Record. I've searched for almost two hours and find nothing? Thank you

Hello, After removing obsolete entry in the password manager for smtp.office365.com, THB (v 102.11) do not prompt to re-enter a password for the SMTP entry. I deleted the complete account for outlook and re-created it. But even after that, only an entry for the IMAP server is recreated in the password manager. Consequence: I am unable to send an email from this email account. How to force THB to recreate an entry for the smtp.office365.com server in the passwords DB?

Good Day all you wonderful Thunderbird users, Been using Thunderbird for many years, have a minor issue, been using Thunderbird to access my sbcglobal.net email for the past 20 plus years, and back in April, I couldn't login, changed the password, updated details in Thunderbird, didn't work. Contact ATT Tech support advised to try to login via their portal currently.com, try to sign in, advised to change password suspicious activity, do the whole forgot password thing. Notice a telephone # not mine on my confirm who you are, so use security questions, advise ATT about the #, they said they will pass the ticket on to upper support. Long story short for the past 2 months hackers have had access to my email placed orders, transferred money via accounts, not mine, sent money via Wester Union and sent over 10K porn emails and my draft folder continues to be filled daily with porn emails and sent out daily about 1K, my ip is a disaster. Then one day while deleting drafts I see an odd email that has smtp.mail.att.net,587,k******@sbcglobal.net,owxwe*************** I take this information and input into Thunderbird bam work, also located in the same email is the outgoing mail details different password, input into Thunderbird works. Contact Office of the President at ATT, speak to his "executive assistant" who is amazingly nice at first after about 3 conversations, she advises she will have their executive team look into it. Send those above login details to a good friend in Canada, inputs it into Thunderbird and Mailbird works. I advise ATT "executive assistant" that this info works in Thunderbird even though it does not work at Currently.com, her reply "If it doesn't work in Currently.com or att.net, you have malware, or viruses on your pc allowing hackers to use your pc to send and open emails?" I advise I changed the password daily now, and the changed password works via Currently.com and att.com but not via Thunderbird but the info the Draft email has works fine via Thunderbird, your servers have this data an it needs to be removed. Not there problem its a thunderbird/third party software issue. I have Bitdefender, and SuperAntiSpyware and check my pc daily, no viruses, malware or trojans etc. Is it truly a Thunderbird issue or ?? This has been on going for over 2 months now and get nowhere with ATT their solution delete the email and create a new one, but all my bills and accounts online are sent to this email, and I have had it for 20 plus years, I have numerous emails I need to save, as a dear friend passed away a few years ago and I have all their emails saved, along with personal emails I need. Any help, advice and your expertise appreciated. Keith C

My main email is Gmail, I use to send & read in my browser till Google changed it. Thunberbird is now used to read & write my emails using that account. As I have already exlained my problem that seems to have no solution or being understood, I'll skip it. Today, I used my Gmail in my browser to send my brother a message. As usual, the message appeared in TB's inbox. This time my mail was classed as junk in TB. How else con you send junk to your own account.
