I hope you are doing well. I am completely blind. I've been facing a problem with thunderbird. Whenever I try to sign into gmail, it says unable to log in, probably wrong configuration, username and password: This is in spite of the fact that I've used my correct password multiple times, I did a double check by signing in and out on the web multiple times to confirm. My email is muhammed3198@gmail.com I also checked my settings to see if imap was enabled, which it is. Please help and fix this issue as urgently as possible. I even selected configure manually to see if all the configuration settings were correct, and they seem to be, like the ports, the incoming and outcoming settings, etc. Please help. In thundertbird 102.11.0 (32-bit). unread messages remain unread aftrer selecting the message. I have to opeen the message in order to mark it read. This is different from what happened beforew. just selceting the message would make it Read. This is slow as I dont always need to open messages In Settings > General, Reading and Display, Automatically mark messages as Read ius checked, and Immediately on Display

What causes one email to go to important and not another email?

Several attributes disappeared with latest updates introducing supernova. I've found the CSS code #toolbar-menubar{order:-1 !important;} added to userChrome.css works to move the Menu bar to the top. I've tried several examples of CSS code to set tree rows eg Inbox to display alternate rows background white/grey, however, none seem to work. Any suggestions? Thank-you.

Hi All, Since update of Thunderbird to version 115.2.3 (64-bit), I keep getting 2 instances of Thunderbird that vie with each other to retrieve IMAP messages. I keep getting error messages until I close one of the 2 instances (Thunderbird windows). I found a workaround. If I click "Help | Troubleshooting information" and press "Clear startup cache…", then "Restart", Thunderbird restarts normally with only one instance. But this is only temporary. It happens only once after I have cleared the startup cache and restarted Thunderbird. When I restart Thunderbird later, it systematically launches with 2 instances. Thank you for any more permanent solution.

Supernova (115.2.2) the CPU - related to calendar

Until I updated to Supernova (115.2.2) the CPU usage was low but since the update there is a high usage on a Lenovo Win 10 PC that is up to date.

It seems it is related to the calendar. If the calendar is not brought into focus immediately after starting SuperNova the CPU usage is up around 14%. Once the calendar is brought into focus and I go back to any inbox the CPU usage drops to less than 1%

Further to my problem in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1424732 where I describe a problem I have with accessing my mail server, I now have a self-inflicted new problem which merits a separate post.

I tried to fix the problem by uninstalling then reinstalling Thunderbird. I first put a copy of my Profile folder onto my desktop (it's 20GB, to big for the Export tool, apparently), uninstalled the product including my Profile and reinstalled Thunderbird. I then copied the backup Profile folder to the C:\Users\billh\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\ folder. I had assumed that the Profile would include all my account details (I had five accounts defined) and all the Local Folders where I have been archiving emails for 20 years, but none of these were restored when I started up the new Thunderbird. It was a blank canvas, asking me to define an account to get started, which I did.

I have seen other solutions to this given on the forum but they don't seem to apply specifically to my setup. Maybe they are for older versions. My Profile folder backup has three subfolders: 1oltjdxc.default, 1oltjdxcBKP.default and 5g4thnfjORIG.default-release My new install (after I copied in the backup) has five: The above three plus ewa0dnv6.default and pkon61kp.default-release

The previous solutions have been to look for files called 'prefs-n.js' where n is a number whose purpose I don't know, but apparently there can be more than one. Renaming the prefs.js file in one of the above folders to prefsBKP.js (or something) and renaming the prefs-n.js file that contains the account names to be included in TB to prefs.js seems to be the accepted solution. However each of the above folders except the '5g4...' and the 'ewa...' ones contain files called prefs.js containing references to the five accounts I had defined previously. None has a suffix number. The 'pkon...' folder has a reference to the one account I defined when starting up TB after the reinstall. I can't delete that account as TB won't let me.

Hope that's not too confusing, but the bottom line question is - how can I get TB to recognise the prefs.js with the full set of accounts and (quite important to me) all my archived emails? I'm assuming the folder called 1oltjdxcBKP.default is the 'master', but surely it would have been used when TB started up the first time after the reinstall?

However, it seems to me, perhaps, that pkon61kp.default-release has taken over from 1oltjdxc.default as the 'master'. Should I just rename the latter as the former (after renaming it as something else? And would it need a 'BKP' version too (presumably just a copy)?

Grateful for any advice. Bill (Windows 10, latest version of TB)

Looking at properties for the ones that do show and the ones that don't there is no difference. There is no Choose button under the colour icon as suggested in another post. Help greatly appreciated.

Google 400. That's an error.

"The server can not process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That's all we know"

Everything was completely fine up until this update!

So, I upgraded to SuperNova and my spell checker no longer works. I removed and re-installed the dictionary extension, someplace I think it shows as installed and active. BUT it does not show my spelling mistakes as I compose an email, and when I go to send the spellchecker popup comes up with blanks. Any thoughts on what/how I can fix this. I "really" need a spellchecker.

Can't view group tags in inbox anymore - tag greyed out - why?!

I tag EVERYTHING, then I work on one tag subject at a time (billing, Work In Progress, Sales Demo Requests, etc. - I can no longer do View>sortby>tags view>sortby Group - this is extremely frustrating since the new update. I need to sort by tags & group them, in order leave the untagged at the top so I can see what I have left to tag.

If I use the tag feature now it will let me select one or more that I have already tagged but completely leaves out the option to see my UNtagged messages. Am I missing something? I know everyone hates change, this new version went way too far in my opinion with the number of "improvements" thrown at the user at once.

I need the sortby group on tags back PLEASE!!!!!! or tell me how to do it another way if I have to.

IMO Its going to be overwhelming for the average user and I'm much savvier than most for my age and we work in software development too and have to release new versions to our clients. So I get it. But man, this new version is slowing down my work flow - Shift M was my friend to move emails into client folders - yes, I found its now CTR SHFT M to move but I set it back to Shift M until they take that away.

Not a fan at all and I work on MAC and PC's I miss having the number of read and unread total in the lower right - turning on the read and unread only works on the folder level and quite frankly it gives me ptsd to see all the total number of emails I've handled in 25 years in each folder. I just need to see the inbox.

I really hope the tag /sort group feature comes back - PLEASE

In the previous version I was using, when a new email arrives and is automatically moved to a custom local folder, that custom local folder name was appearing in bold letters and BLUE color.

The folder I am referring to is the "mother" folder and inside that "mother" folder there are sub-folders. The "mother" folder was coloring in blue when a new email arrived.

Now with version 115 this feature is lost, the custom folder name that receives a new email now appears in bold letters BUT BLACK colour.

I have something like 1234 custom local folders, some folders contain emails that I have read but I am keeping that email as unread because it requires an action (like a "to do" email). These folder in the previous version of thunderbird were appearing in black color while new emails (that I actually never read) that were sent to a custom folder, that custom folder was apperaing in blue.

This color differentiation was helping me by immediately recognizing folder that contains new emails from foldars that contains not-new-but-unread emails

How can I do to make a custom folder appearing of bold letters and blue color when it receive a new email?
