Whenever I search for a word in emails that I have in my mailboxes, Thunderbird displays the underlying HTML code of emails, rather than their formatted form. When I click on one of these, it displays correctly, i.e., formatted. This is very annoying, as the HTML can be quite long. See attachment of beginning of result for searching the word "libération".

I'm using latest Thunderbird version set with IMAP on W10. It works fine and the PC is on 24x7. Every now and then Thunderbird stops sending Mail claiming it cannot contact the SMTP Server but the Server is correct and it works fine. I have to reboot the PC in order to make it capable of sending Mails again. CPU, RAM, SSD and Net values are almost Idle. I'd like to identify what causes this issue. I've checked the Windows Application Log but there's anything that helps. Where can I start troubleshooting from? Thanks.

I am running TB 128.7.0esr (64-bit) on Windows 10. Last month(?) the time format for calendar entries changed from 12hr to 24hr. Then I saw that it also changed the time format in mailbox entries. I wanted to go back to 12 hr.
After a lot of searching, I FOUND A FIX posted in this Linux forum:
https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=358828
The time format is specified in a TB preference, intl.date_time.pattern_override.time_short using the Config Editor.
Go to Tools - Settings - General.
Press the Config Editor button - it is at the bottom of the General section, on the right.
In the screen that comes up, enter the preference name:
intl.date_time.pattern_override.time_short
It shows the current value. On my system it was HH:mm.
On the right side, press the pencil icon to change the value per below.
When done, press the Check box.
THE NEW VALUE WILL NOT TAKE EFFECT UNTIL YOU EXIT AND RESTART TB.
The time format is a single stream in 4 parts:
hour - separator - minute - meridian
Note: No dashes or spaces between the parts.
Part 1 - H is 24hr HH is 24hr with leading 0
h is 12hr hh is 12hr with leading 0
Part 2 - separator character. Typically : Part 3 - mm is 2 digit minute Part 4 - bb displays AM/PM/noon. If blank, nothing displayed.
I use h:mmbb for 12 hr format with no leading 0, and meridian.
8:05AM, 12:00noon, 10:14PM
I believe this will work for all versions on all platforms.

Having posted that I was unable to get an email account working on Thunderbird. In frustration I removed it and reinstalled. Now its seems when I try to open it, it says the app cannot be found. It seems to have got worse and worse as the day goes on
So now even when downloading I cant open it. All this whilst trying to negotiate Windows 11 for the first time. I cant find the Thunderbird profile on the PC either.... so much easier with W10
Any ideas?

All the information that normally appears when one clicks on the name of an account in account settings (account name, your name, e-mail address, outgoing server to use, signature, et cet.) has disappeared on all three of my accounts. When I re-enter the information, Thunderbird does not save it.
It happens in troubleshooting mode too.
Thunderbird does still know the account names, my name, my e-mail addresses, and my signatures even though that information does not appear on the page.
How can I make Thunderbird show this information again and make sure that it's using the right outgoing servers?

I've used Thunderbird for years, and I LOVE it! A few days ago, my hard drive died. I had it replaced, and I've used my data backup to recover much. I did NOT have programs/apps backed up. I need VERY SPECIFIC steps to download and reinstall Thunderbird so that it uses my old profile. Should I first delete EVERYTHING having to do with Thunderbird and start anew? I did download it today and then went to the C:Users/Owner/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird folder. In that folder, I deleted the "new" profile file (I think!). Then I moved my backed up folder called Profiles into that directory. I tried to get Thunderbird to use that profile, but no luck. I'm reasonably intelligent (I've been told!), but I can't figure how to do this, and I truly need a step-by-step blueprint. Do I download Thunderbird first? If so, what do I then do to make it find the old profile. I'm running Windows 11 Home on a PC. Right now, I'm going for a long walk to clear my brain. In the interim, if one of you really smart, nice experts could give me instructions on how to do this, I'd be eternally grateful. I have numerous folders, and some really important old emails in that old profile. I also would like to be able to retrieve my address book and calendars ... which I ASSUME are part of the old profile. Thanks in advance for ANY assistance! Don't assume I know ANYTHING!!

my hotmail account is loaded into thuunderbird both as IMAP and POP acccounts. I have checked the account settings option to "Synchronise all messages locally regardless of age" but I can't see any inbox email older than last month.
The POP account shows my entire email history in my inbox and even when draggint them into the IMAP inbox, the emails still don't show.
What am i missing? This lack of synchronisation with my phone is really annoying.
My inbox is entirely empty, it used to have backups of emails from another of my accounts. Please advise.

Thunderbird had never crashed before, but lately, after the last 2 Windows 10 updates within the last 2 weeks, it crashes. It's at 128.5.2esr, the next-to-last update.
It always crashes when I choose "About" and it starts downloading the update. It appears that it doesn't get the 1st byte before crashing. It will still say 0 bytes when it crashes.
It also crashes if I leave it running and the screen goes through the screen saver mode and turns black. Twice it crashed while I was using it.
I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I had 4,000 emails in my Inbox (is there a limit?), so I deleted many and moved many to folders. I now have just under 1,000 in my Inbox.
I also tried restarting in Troubleshoot Mode and updating, but it still crashed at 0 bytes downloaded.
Is there a way to manually download the update and apply it? I can't find it on the website.
The next thing I know to do is reinstall. Is there anything I can try before doing that? Would you suggest uninstall first or reinstall over what's here?
When I open Thunderbird no inbox or anything else displayed. Checked profile it is missing (deleted). Cannot recover it. Help!

I was originally with Frontier as my service provider/email server. They have shifted this to Yahoo!. Receiving emails works fine for me, but I cannot get Thunderbird to send emails. I get two notifications when sending... 1) Login to server smtp.mail.yahoo.com with username ******** failed. 2)Send Message Error.
Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate t Outgoing server (SMTP)smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings Outgoing server(SMTP)'.
I have checked the password dozens of times/tries. I currently have the authentication method set to 'normal password', though I have tried all choices. Type of security is SSL/TLS and port 465.
All of these settings work on my Android phone email app (all 3 accounts I have with Frontier that are hosted by Yahoo! work) I am at a loss. I hope you can help! thank you Jeff B.
