The 'Message Header' is the area above where the message content of an opened email is displayed. It typically contains a set of buttons - Reply, Forward, Archive, Junk, Delete and More It shows From, To, Subject and Date It may show other information depending upon settings and type of email.

Do you find the spacing between eg: the 'From' line and the 'TO' line is too much? Do you want to reduce this gap? If yes, then the following information may solve your problem.

I was upgraded to TB 115 when I had to get a new computer. I have become quite used to using userchrome to highly personalise my TB, mainly to restore previous features.

However, somehow, in making the "Write" screen the way I like it, I have shrunk the section of the Contacts Sidebar which contains the actual addresses/contacts, down to the point where only one contact is visible. There is a scroll bar so I can see the other addresses are there. It is just that the bottom border of that box has elevated itself and there is a mass of blank space below.

I am sure I have caused it with some code, however everything I have tried to adjust only works on the heading part of the Contacts Sidebar, not the panel with the addresses. I have searched the net to find out what that panel is officially called, without success.

Could a helpful person tell me the "official" name (to use in the css) of that panel so that I can fix it? Or even write me a little code to make that box go back to default?

Just for context, the reason I was fiddling with it was because the panel is excessively spaced, and I was trying to compact the contacts together.

Have you discovered that you cannot raise the 'Message Pane' as far upwards as in previous versions? This is because the developers have increased the minimum height of the Thread Pane otherwise known as 'Message List'.

In Tbird emails (115.6.1), I have an UNREAD folder, and numerous subfolders under INBOX. There appears to have been a change a few months ago. I used to be able to move an unread email from UNREAD to a subfolder, and it would disappear from the UNREAD folder. That no longer happens. I want it to happen, because then I can see which emails (in the UNREAD folder) still need my attention. I don't want to mark the email as 'read', because then it won't show as 'unread' in the subfolder, which I want it to do, as I then know it needs further attention, and because it makes that subfolder show in the list of subfolders that have unread messages in them. I don't want to have the same unread email in both the UNREAD folder and in the subfolder. This used to work, but now it doesn't. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just added gmail account to TB and it came up using POP3. It seems that I can't delete e-mails from gmail whan I delete them from TB. What options on TB and gmail should I use? I'm running TB 115.6.1. Under server setting in TB I specified "leave messages on sever until I delete them". Can't find any clear instruction on Internet. Thanks, Yuri

I just recently downloaded Thunderbird after using Mac Mail for years. Mail suddenly refused to display messages and no one on the Apple forum could figure out why. So I was advised to download Thunderbird. So far, I'm not a fan. Here are my issues: 1. Unread messages in the Inbox are in bold. But the bold is so close to the normal font that I can't tell them apart. Is there another, better way to mark unread messages? A tick/check mark? A coloured background? 2. Messages are automatically organised into conversations. But when the latest message comes in, the inbox message doesn't go bold. So there is no way of knowing where to find it. I have to go through all messages that have a conversation (more than one message in the inbox) and find one where the latest message is in bold at the bottom. It's a royal pain. I see the number next to the account on the left, but nothing is in bold on the right. Grrr. 3. The conversations are the wrong way up. I want the most recent message at the top, not the bottom. I would actually prefer not to have them in conversations at all, just the most recent message, but I realise that is probably asking too much. 4. There is no number next to the Thunderbird icon on my desktop when I get a message. I used to appreciate this in Mail. It told me if it was worth going to my inbox. With Thunderbird I have to open the program to find out. Ok, that's enough for now. I'd better not get started on the shortcomings of the search function, or how to bring the unread messages to the top of the inbox list... There are just too many issues to address is one posting. Hello, I have a problem with finding the "Thread with Unread" option in the newest version of Thunderbird 115. In TB version 91 it was in Options > Threads > Thread with Unread and now it is gone. I was looking for a solution in the Google or on the TB forum, but I couldn't find it by phrase. Alternatively, is there newer option to configure the email view so that I can see only threads with at least one unread message? Best regards

I just moved over from another email client, and so far I am happy with Thunderbird.

Is there an option where the signature is above the reply? As we speak, the signature is right below the reply email, instead of being beneath the email body text which has just been compiled.

Prior to Supernova version, whenever new messages arrive in an Inbox I could hover my mouse over the Inbox without actually clicking on it and I could see a brief preview of the new messages (not the actual content of the messages, but like the subject etc). Now updated to Supernova and it doesn't do that anymore. When I hover over Inbox, it just displays "Inbox, xxxx unread messages". Is there a hidden setting to get it to show me just the new messages like before?

I had my userCrome.css set to widen line spacing in the message list, among other things. Updating to Þb 115 broke this, and since I can't inspect the css, I don't know how to fix this again.

Given that I have a thread in my inbox and I want to see it in Conversation View (so I can see not just incoming mail but also outgoing mail); When I right click on the thread and click on `Open Message in Conversation`; Then a new tab opens with the messages in the conversation. Every message but one is displayed twice because the copy in `All Mail` folder is shown alongside the one in the `Sent Mail` folder for outgoing mail, and `Inbox` for incoming. See attached screenshot (yellow highlights messages displayed twice, green not). I would expect the results to display messages in `All Mail` only OR `Inbox` and `Sent Mail` only but not both. Is there a way to accomplish this?

With the release of TB115 the line spacing in the message list is much tighter than it was in previous versions. I have an userChrome.css file and it is working just fine for the folder list but I can't get it to work for the message list.

None of the following work to increase the line height in the message list

Just in case it is interfering, you should know that I have also set layout.css.devPixlesPerPx to 1.75 to make all the fonts bigger.

Any help that you could provide would be much appreciated before my eyes go cross-eyed from reading the very tightly spaced message list.

I am looking for a simple one-click or keyboard shortcut way of running all filters on the selected message.

I've tried different filter extensions and had no luck.

So I have installed 'tbkeys' extension so I can create my own shortcuts. Now I just need to know the name of the function that is called from "Tools">"Run Filters on Message".

It will be something like "MsgApplyFilters" (that one doesn't work).

Hello. I have two mailboxes. One is configured via POP3, the other via IMAP. It is necessary to transfer several folders (over 100) from POP3 to IMAP at once. Previously, it was possible to select several folders at once and move them. Now I can only transfer one folder at a time. I tried to go to the profile folder and just copy the folder files from there, but when Thunderbird is turned on, these folders are immediately deleted. Is there any other way? Thank you in advance.

I need addon tool to export email messages separately to eml format with a 'batching' addon, not all to a zip file not one message at a time, quick export all messages automatically.

I would like to suggest an improvement to the way Thunderbird handles email aliases. The current setup is somewhat cumbersome, especially since every place I sign up to gets an alias (I can create an infinite number of them, and if I get spammed, I know who the culprit is). What I would like to do is simply compose a new message, and enter an alias there. Is this feasible? It would be so much simpler this way.

Having issue with the signature staying in Thunderbird.

Some online help articles say there's an OK button to hit after pasting a signature in the box. I do not see one. On the latest version 115.6.1

Also I checked use HTML. Works fine when I go to sent an email right after doing this. However, after closing Thunderbird, it reverts back to an old signature.

Any ideas?

So, I upgraded to SuperNova and my spell checker no longer works. I removed and re-installed the dictionary extension, someplace I think it shows as installed and active. BUT it does not show my spelling mistakes as I compose an email, and when I go to send the spellchecker popup comes up with blanks. Any thoughts on what/how I can fix this. I "really" need a spellchecker.
