I had a Search Folder as a filter for a mailbox inbox. I had about 20 unread messages in my inbox and about 5 unread messages in the search folder. When right-clicking the search folder and then Selecting "Mark Folder Read", it not only marked the emails in the search folder as read but also all the unread email files in the inbox it was filtering to.

This is not the behaviour I was expecting.

I want to have my most used email account at the top of the list. Is their a way to rearrange the mailbox order from top to bottom?

I constantly used email to send images to my watercolor students. Still use PICASA, a Google app that hasn't been supported in years, but still works fine, and immediately would send the selected photos via emClient email. BUT THEN i decided to download Thunderbird; it did not have certain functions i wanted (I doubt any program does), so my computer guy de-installed it. BUT THE PROBLEM is, when i went to Picasa to email photos to a class, it did not automatically open an emClient window, but gave me the choice of using Thunderbird or GoogleMail. ??? even tho Thun. was de=installed. My consultant found it was a MAPI Problem, and we have spent hours trying to fix it, with no luck. FastStone photo editing would also not work to send emails. Is it possible that downloading Thunderbird could have somehow correupted my general MAPI function?

We have spent HOURS trying to fix it, and no luck. Finally i said, let's re-install Thunderbird, and at least now i can email photos directly from FastStone. But not from Picasa, which is a huge loss to me. PLEASE, i know Picasa is ancient, but now it doesn't even give me the choice of Thun. or Gmail when I click on "Send by email". Please, can anyone help with this MAPI issue?? My consultant tried everything, but it seems to be corrupted in some way. Thank you so much!

I'm not sure what I did but I can no longer see the headers of any of my messages. Setting headers to all doesn't change anything. All I see are the columns at the top, then the message immediately. I don't see the To: CC: etc.

I'm pretty sure I accidentally flipped a setting but I'm not sure which one. If this seems familiar to someone, let me know!

We have a number of medical services (chiros, physios, optometrists etc) who all use the same platform to run their appointment booking tasks. For all of these, any email coming from them comes from the same email address, that of the platform viz: <notifications@janeapp.com>

I have previously added this to my contacts, using the contact name Damini Physio.

Today I received an email where the From: header in the actual email source is Okanagan Vision Therapy <notifications@janeapp.com>

But it displays in Thunderbird as being From Damini Physio. I have noticed this happening with all the other clinics that use the same platform - they all show in my Thunderbird as being from Damini despite having the correct identification encoded in the email From header.

Is there some way I can fix this so that Thunderbird shows the correct source of the email? ie that it gives preference to the name encoded in the email rather than looking up the contact name for that email address?

I have a domain with Earthlink. There are 7 e-mail addresses/accounts in this domain. Three of them will not retain the "user name" in the SMTP Server settings box. The user name is under Security and Authentication. If I match the user name with the e-mail account on one of these addresses, it changes it in the other ones. Is there a limit to the number of accounts Thunderbird can handle? Is there another reason? I will have to switch to MS Mail or some other client if this cannot be resolved. Thanks

During a "folder compact" one folder just was cleared and all mails are gone. Tried to copy a folder from another laptop following a tutorial. Copy seemed to be OK, paste too to the "local folders" folder. Everything, I mean all the files are there, apparently untouched, but when I open Thunderbird there is no sign of the mails.

I presume a step by step sequence of the moves to take, fool proof, both laptops, may help. Kind of "first, switch on both laptops..."

I have 2 out of 5 mail accounts were the trash-folders are less than 30 Mb according to Thunderbird - [right mouse click] on the folders & pick [properties]

BUT on the disk inside the [ImapMail] folder I have files named [Trash] that for the 2 accounts have a combined total size of 600 Mb ! :(

And YES !!! I let Thunderbird compact per auto ALL the time (when it will save = 10 Mb in total)


So either; - I've COMPLETELY misunderstood 'something' - or there's something to look into for Mozilla ? :)

hello, I've tried to migrate the original 'profile' directory (appData -> roaming -> thunderbird -> profiles) to a centralized NAS, to have access to my mails (POP3) from several computers. I copied the whole thunderbird directory to the NAS and changed the profile directory in thunderbird to the new location. But now there are no more mails visible, neither on the original PC, nor on an other laptop. Instead of that I see some dozens of (sub)directories of the profile directory, and some else in the left window... What's more, now I cannot change the directory on the original Pc back to the original location on the local harddisc (there is an error message, that the directory would not be not suitable...) What am I doing wrong? I am using windows 11 and 10, and the Thunderbird build is 115.8.1 (64 bit)

Overnight my profile has gone from 14.0gb to 15.7gb with negligible changes in the number of files and folders. I've noticed these jumps before, but also that some time later it drops again, typically by a gigabyte or more.

As I back up to Google Drive and don't want to pay for storage I won't otherwise use I need to keep it below 15gb, though obviously at 14gb I'll have to do a manual tidy pretty soon!

So while it's not a serious problem I'd be interested to know why these increases and decreases happen.

I got a new computer. Installed a fresh version of TB. Created the email accounts. Then Imported the Profile from a hard drive that was in the old computer (I also tried copying the Profile folder). Now when I open the Local Folder section, I can see all the folder structure, but none of them contain any emails. I lost 17 years of emails, some of them very important to me. The repair option did not help. Deleting the .msf files and sbd folders didn't help Compacting didn't help Properties of all the folders are pointed to the correct file in C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\7eehms8r.default\Mail\Local Folders The file sizes are large but still no emails in the corresponding folder (see attach screenshot for some of the folder sizes)

Please help recover my emails.
