As an example, I might order a flashlight from a vendor. I would have received an order confirmation by email, and then might get another message when it is delivered. But depending on the vendor's practices, these messages might not say "flashlight." A year later, suppose I want to know where I ordered the flashlight. If the messages refer to an order number but do not say "flashlight", I don't have a simple way to find this out. What I would like to do, when I archive the message (or subsequently), is to edit the body (or subject) to include this keyword. Is there any straightforward way to do this in Thunderbird? Thanks for any advice.

It just self-upgraded to 115.3.3 yesterday, and suddenly, I have NO RULES.

Ever since Thunderbird's latest update (Sep-23 / Oct-23), the "link" or "hyperlink" (Ctrl +K) feature does not work when drafting an email. When I enter the command to add a link (e.g., Ctrl +K) the page freezes as if a dialog box is there somewhere for me to populate what I'd like to link, but no actual dialog box shows up allowing me to input the URL I'd like to link to. Anyone else experiencing this and have a solution? Thank you!!

It is a very bad sign that I have to find my password and log into Firefox to tell you that the email service on Thunderbird SUCKS.
Maybe if I GOOGLE looking for an answer someone will post directions how to use your product.

I've read some articles about the way Thunderbird works with GMail IMAP folders. If I understand well, TB creates a copy of every GMail messages for each assigned label. This means that if a message has 3 labels, TB will copy it 3 times. According to Google storage status, I have about 12 GB for my mails. If multiple copy of messages are done depending on assigned labels (all messages, sent messages, about 20 custom labels, and so on), does it mean that I'd need 50 or 60 GB or more to synchronize my GMail account ?

The attached image shows the typical message I receive: the sender does not show, my name always appears instead (Francesco Tamburrano). Moreover when there is a link, clicking on it does not act (does not transfer to the address shown). I am ready to provide further info and examples of received messages. This problem is only with Thunderbird. I am obliged to use another mail....but I love Thunderbird, I really like it! Best regards to the reader!

The T'bird 115 with tabs has caused my problem. With 115.5.2 every email in my inbox and deleted box have been tabbed and extend for a huge number across the screen to the righthand side. Many have multiple copies of each email. Using web advice to turn off tabs which suggests use TOOLS / Options /Tabs to turn off tabs. There is no Options in my TOOLS drop down. Another solution is to right click in a space in the Tab bar then click Customise then look for the Tabs option. The Customise tool only gives option to add more buttons to the menu bar. I have avoided going back to an earlier version as I am worried I might lose information in the folders that I have created for important emails (ie insurance, warranties etc). I thought the Tabs was a good idea but it is not working for me. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I'm very confused. I've been using Thunderbird as my email server for a few years. Recently, I stopped receiving emails December 12, 2023. I sent in a problem according to the help page that I found. I believe Mozilla is now the server for Thunderbird? I don't even know if that is accurate (part of my confusion). I followed prompts and confirmed my email address, apparently I now have a user name. I still can't send or receive emails. Can you help. I need step-by-step instructions, please.

A new version of Thunderbird got installed on my system now and I keep getting messages from defunct accounts indicating there is something wrong with my password or it can't locate the server. In all cases I have unchecked the boxes in server settings, including "Check for new messages at startup" and "Get new message every __ minutes". Unfortunately it still seems to want to log into the servers and I can't find a way to disable that behavior. I have kept the mail account because I didn't want to lose the emails. I still refer back to them at times. I've been using T-bird for a long time and have 8 or 10 of these accounts. Please tell me how to convince the system to stop trying to access these accounts.

Login to server smtp.office365.com with username NAME@DOMAIN.COM failed.
[Enter New Password] [Cancel] [Retry]
Pressing the [Enter New Password] button makes the dialogue go away, but it doesn't prompt for a password. The OAuth2 authorisation screen I expected to appear never appears.
SMTP server config is:

The only other thing I can think of is the org uses SSO (saml2). SMTP is turn on at the Microsoft send, and we have tried Vincent's suggestion: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1307784#answer-1376341

I searched and I know others have had this issue as well but so far, none of the solutions that I've found have fixed it. This just started happening yesterday randomly in the middle of my work day, NOTHING had changed! One minute, I could receive emails and then next, this error started to appear: Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox.
I can still GET EMAILS ON MY IPHONE and can STILL SEND EMAIL via Thunderbid - I just cannot RECEIVE EMAILS IN THUNBDERBIRD ANYMORE!
Any solutions? It's really a pain to have clients emailing me and have to check and respond to those on my phone.
