OK, I asked this question many months ago and still don't have a solution:

I inadvertently changed the background of my Thunderbird to black with white text. I have NO idea what I did or how to get it back. I tried this: Menu app icon (3 lines) > Preferences select 'General' Scroll to 'Language & Appearance' click on 'Colours' Text = white Background = Blue uncheck - do not select 'Use System colours' 'Override the colours....' select 'Never' Click on OK

I really hope that someone can help! Thanks in advance.

In the past two days I've not been able to insert a hyperlink into an email via either the link icon nor the insert navigation.

When I hit either I am no longer able to do anything with the message I am working on it freezes. I am still able to go back to the rest of my mailboxes/folders without an issue.

Anyone know if this is a known issue or what the fix might be?

My Thunderbird updated to Supernova (115.2.2). I'm running Windows 11. Now my Gmail won't connect. I attempted to delete the Gmail and readd the account. I can't even add a Gmail account - I get the error:

Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgAccountManager.createIncomingServer]

Any thoughts/suggestions are welcome.

I'm even willing to revert to the previous version if given the opportunity and instruction. Thanks!

Hi Community, i wanted to ask wether it normal that Thunderbird 115 needs 60 seconds to load the interface? When it starts it shows my personalised theme and an empty space for a whole minute. (i measured it)

Directly after installation everything was fine. But now i have set up my acconts and rearranged some buttons. Is there maybe a problem with Exchange synchronisation on startup? Both of my accounts are provided by Exchange servers.

Hello, After updating the Thunderbird email program from version 102.15.1 to version 115.4.2, each new email received with a (checked) .pdf, .docx downloaded to disk 0 Bytes and displaying an empty document. Create it directly in Thunderbird, it's also impossible. In the case of this message to another sender who has Thunderbird 102.15.1, it opens without any problems, forward it to the recipient who has access to the 115.4.2 version, it already opens ten files and saves it to disk in a size that has ten files. Strange thing, it works, but it can't be like that. Please let me know what could be the solution to the problem.

I found the setting for Global Search and turned it on. I'd like to be able to search all folders (imap and my many local folders). No matter what I put in I get zero results. Is there a time period I need to wait for it to build an index? I found an older thread about this on this forum where someone was told to add a folder to the inclusion list for global search. I have tons of folders, if this is the issue, do I really have to do this for every single folder, one by one, including even my inbox?! thanks

Can't delete some folders from Trash

I am trying to permanently delete some empty folders in Trash. I was able to delete some of them, but four remain. If I push "Delete" nothing happens. It says at the bottom left of the screen "Deleted folder {Folder name}", but that's not true - the folder is still there. If I try to rename the folder I get the message "The folder could not be renamed. Perhaps the folder is being reparsed, or the new name is not a valid folder name." I've tried running in Troubleshooting mode, but that didn't help.

How can I permanently delete these folders?

CCC ONE emails not working with Thunderbird

Anytime I attempt to send an email in the CCC ONE application, I get this error message from CCC ONE: "Unable to perform selected action while the email application is o… (Lesen Sie mehr)

Anytime I attempt to send an email in the CCC ONE application, I get this error message from CCC ONE:

"Unable to perform selected action while the email application is open. Please close your email application and try again."

This error message persists whether I do have Thunderbird open or not. I also checked Task manager while I had Thunderbird closed and found no instance of it running. Is there any way that Thunderbird is running in the background? Or could it be if Thunderbird loads at start up that it's tricking CCC into thinking it's open all the time?

I contacted CCC ONE report and they advised me to attempt to change the name of a DLL file so a new one would be created to replace it. I tried that, the issue still persists. They also told me to try and uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird, which I did, and it still won't work.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

This problem began suddenly yesterday. Thunderbird is set to download messages automatically. When I opened it up yesterday, 8/27/2023, it said "downloading 1 of 50". I waited and it just stopped, no error message and no mail came in. Repeated attempts resulted in the same outcome. I reset TB, reset the PC with the same result. I turned the computer off overnight hoping for a better tomorrow and the same thing is happening now, except that it says "downloading 1 of 193". The last e-mail messages appear to have been downloaded on 8/26/2023, in the afternoon. No settings were changed prior to this problem popping up. I don't know whether TB did some sort of automatic update and I'm not sure how I would discover that anyway. An outgoing test message from this account to another account did arrive, although slowly. I'm running TB 102.14.0 (32-bit) on an up-to-date Windows 10. Does this problem sound familiar, and is there a simple fix? The mail is on the server and on my phone as well. I use POP and have not had any problems receiving mail on both my iPhone and my PC. Thanks.

In thundertbird 102.11.0 (32-bit). unread messages remain unread aftrer selecting the message. I have to opeen the message in order to mark it read. This is different from what happened beforew. just selceting the message would make it Read. This is slow as I dont always need to open messages In Settings > General, Reading and Display, Automatically mark messages as Read ius checked, and Immediately on Display

Got 400 error on attempt to setup Gmail account in Thunderbird

I found a few similar problems on the internet but none of the answers can actually fixed my problems. I can only add 1 Gmail account for personal and the Work account cannot be added due error 400. I also have a custom domain account selfhosting so I don't think it is Thunderbird fault.

1. I have no VPN 2. I use no firewall 3. I use the latest Thunderbird 115 4. I made sure to clear caches 5. I do not accept cookies from anysite 6. I always use Mozilla recommend config for Gmail which is SSL/TLS and OAuth2 7. IMAP is turned on 8. This is the link has 400 error (I got this after enter the correct login email), see [1] 9. I have apache2 server for web deverlopment, and there was an answer in here suggested that it might block Thunderbird from receive Google Token. So I disable the apache2 but still nothing change.

Since updating Thunderbird, I cannot access my Microsoft account. It shows the 'Authenticated but not connected' error message. I can access my emails on my mobile phone but not on my computer. I have changed the disable IPv6 to true, deleted my stored password and entered it manually .... nothing seems to be working. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

All of a sudden a number of emails are arriving with the correct subject line but the sender is listed as HotelMaven, with whom I do correspond. The emails are forwarded from my billsteiner@duck.com address. The sender, when viewed with BlueMail on my phone and tablet, is correct, so this is a Thunderbird issue.

Also, at the same time, Thunderbird began asking me for my password every time I open it. This has never happened before.

After spending an hour getting an important email draft just right, Thunderbird (102.14.0) wouldn't send it because it thought it was more important to compact a bunch of folders. So I clicked File / Send Later. Now I can't find it.

I searched every way I know how, eyeballed all the folders in the account, even searched on the host server.

Then I looked on this forum and now (too late) know that Send Later has had issues.

Are there any suggestions about where to look for this draft email?

Some messages appear garbled/appear as code only: Some appear correctly at first, then at a subsequent reading, they have become garbled. Some messages suddenly (not on the initial reading, but on subsequent readings) have an erroneous Subject or Sender, and I recognize the (often garbled) content as belonging to another Subject or Sender. The problem is spurious: For instance, most e-mails from a particular Sender will read correctly, but every now and again a message appears garbled. When this happens, the From and Subject field will be empty when I open the message. (See attached images) These errors began when my e-mail provider Telenor (@online.no) started to upgrade their e-mail service a few months ago, and so far, they have not been able to pinpoint the cause or correct the problem. But all messages appear correctly on the server, so I suspect TB is not able to fetch and sort messages correctly. As a possible workaround: Is there a way to re-download a particular message to get a "clean" version of that particular message in TB? (I use TB version 102.11.2, Build ID 20230526152851). Thanks for your help :)

TB won't set up on Yahoo mail. Spent about 3 hours on the phone with one and sometimes two Yahoo techs and giving them total access to my computer so they could set up TB but could not get it working. It was eventually suggested I contact you folks, so here I am. When sending an email, it just keeps running like it's sending but doesn't stop. Eventually displays the following:

Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.

The techs and I went around an endless loop of re-entering PW and checking authentication settings. Any suggestions?

I am a long time Thunderbird user and have not seen it slow down this much. I try to check mail and it takes an inordinate amount of time. Then, when I think it has received the new mails, I click on one and that takes a long time to display the message. If I send a message, putting the sent mail to the sent mail box is a long wait, it may even fail although I could see it on Gmail in the Web browser. If I switch to a new folder, I see the message on the status bar telling me sending login information, and the wait continues. Why does it send the login credentials if it is not closed only to look in a different folder?

I am using version 115.5.1 on a gigabit connection. This happens on my laptop, MS Surface Studio Laptop, and my desktop computer with more power. The laptop uses WiFi and the desktop is cabled Gigabit Ethernet.

It is pushing me to look into alternative e-mail clients, I hope I can remain with TB.
