I've just started getting error messages that I need to enter my password to send emails. I've tried that but it still keeps saying unable to connect to the server. This has been happening for about two days now. I've tried updating Thunderbird, restarting Thunderbird and restarting my PC. None of this has worked. I made no changes to my system, software or home network. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Company uses office 365, I have my Thunderbird. Since a couple of weeks sync issues appear (i.e.: TB has no right to delete folders in office 365). Finding a solution took several hours in various forums - nothing helps. - the only suggestion I didn'T try so far is asking the office365 helpdesk.
Problem description: When I delete folders they reappear at the old position. empting the trash yields also reappearance in trash. Same for moving folders - a copy is made, but at the old position and empty folder remains. They are gray - so hidden folders. Overwriting obviously does not work, as the folder already exist, but is not accessible. subscribing/unsubscribing does not work. In office365 the folders do not occur. If I create a folder in office 365 (web, outlook) it appears in TB. When I delete it in office 365 (web, outlook) it disappears in office 365 (web, outlook) but reamains - in gray - in TB. By now, the number of gray empty undeleteable folders has grown significantly. Only solution I got sofar is to switch from TB to outlook. :/

In the past I had used Thunderbird for both email and calendar for multiple accounts. I just downloaded Thunderbird onto my laptop (PC running Windows 11) and added all of my accounts and they are all synced. However, I can't edit or delete any event from any of those accounts directly in Thunderbird, although if I make changes on a different device they will sync and update properly. I never had this problem when I used Thunderbird before. I didn't see any permission settings that would allow me to do this so I'm stuck. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Using Thunderbird version 115.11.1 (32-bit), I cannot set up my Gmail account. I've tried all tips and suggestions: Accepted cookies, OAuth2 authentication in both IMAP and SMTP, removed saved password, but still got the message: "probably wrong configuration, username or password". At start, enter my name and Gmail address, leave the password blank and click "Done" I don't see any sign of "Sign in with your Google account" as I have read in several places. I've been using Thunderbird for years with no issues but suddenly this week it froze and although I could send e-mails from my Mac (running on Sonoma 14.5) I couldn't receive any. There was no message error, just nothing happened: it was frozen. So I finally opted to disinstall and then reinstall Thunderbird and now have incoming messages again but everything else I had: all my tags, e-mails older than a day ago, my address book have all gone. I've tried doing "import from profile "default" then choosing to import accounts and settings, address books, and mail messages but just get a message that "import failed unexpectedly, more information may be available in the Error Console" but I've no clue how to find the Error Console in question. Can anyone walk me through how to fix this issue and recuperate my old Thunderbird account without using all sorts of technical terms? I'm not IT-fluent! Many thanks.

When I launch Thunderbird, I'm asked for new data (Account Setup), like there is no profile available.
The application seems unable to locate or recognize my existing profile, but the profilefolder exists and its almost 90Gb of data. Should I complete Account Setup windows with my data?
Please help me! Tried with thunderbird -p command to repair or select another profile but with no success !

For the last 2 or 3 days I have been receiving the above message when accessing emails. I have experienced this problem occasionally in the past and for a day at most, the problem usually associated with virginmedia. However this is now proving to be disruptive and I don't where the problem lies, with Thunderbird or Virgin. None of my settings etc. have been changed and I can access everything if I go directly to the virginmedia website but the handling of the emails is cumbersome. Any ideas?

Upon rebooting, Thunderbird is failing to open. The error message is:
Unable to open the folder Inbox on xxx@example.com because it is in use by some other operation. Please wait for that operation to finish and then select the folder again.
There is no other process using the Inbox folder. I have rebooted and the error message persists. It looks to me like the more correct message would be that the Inbox or the profile is corrupted.
I see other threads asking how to restore a corrupted profile, but none of the answers are very useful. They all see to be tips on how to restore a backup of the profile at %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles.
If I had a backup of that folder, I wouldn't need to ask how to recover a Profile after a crash.
If it helps at all, when I opened the Error Console in Thunderbird, I see the following messages:

A while ago my long-time hotmail account stopped working on two computer with windows 10 and one with windows 11. Last night, I looked up an article that said I have to use Oauth2 instead of normal pw. I made that change on the windows 11 machine and a popup occurred that wanted the number from the google authenticator on my phone. I gave it that and it checks mail now just fine.
This morning I went to one of the Windows 10 machines and did exactly the same. I tried some different server names online and tried some, but after a while I started getting a little window that asked my email address and pw. I put my hotmail address in and got this message:

Now this is the very same hotmail email that worked on windows 11 with the same server settings last night. It still works.
Now, on the windows 10 machine with those same settings, I get the blank extra window. The extra window appears, does not populate, and disappeared.
I had no opportunity to do what worked on the windows 11 machine just last night. I cannot check mail on hotmail on this windows 10 pc. I took all the updates available to Thunderbird and firefox. TB is 115.11.1
I'm stopped. Why would it work on one pc and not another? Oauth2 on the windows 11 asked for authenticator. On the windows 10 it never asks.

I have not received any emails since then. Nor able to send any. I can receive and send my emails through my Mail provider- Telstra Bigpond and also receive and send on my Apple iPad and Phone.
