I have been having constant problems with Firefox and Windows 8. What will happen is that Firefox will lock up my entire computer piece by piece until I am unable to interact with anything, after 1 - 2 minutes, the system will work again. Checking event logs shows nothing. The system does not crash but simply slows everything down until no movement is possible then it works. I honestly do not know how to fix this and any advice from anyone will be helpful. Below is a list of everything that I have done. It will happen with one tab or multiple tabs. It will happen on ANY site.
Specs: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit AMD FX 8120 CPU 16GB DDR3 1066 120GB SSD Boot Drive 6870 2GB Video Card
Completely reinstalled Windows. - One of the first applications (after drivers of course) was FF. Started happening almost immediately.
Upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 - No Change
Disabled HW acceleration - No change
Enabled HW acceleration - No Change
Changed Flash to click to enable - No change
Updated BIOS - No Change
Updated video card drivers - No Change
Set FF to run as admin - No Change
Disabled C State in my CPU - No Change
Ran FF in comparability mode - No Change
Updated sequentially to other FF versions - No Change
This is pretty infuriating when I am trying to work. I love FF and although I am OK using IE, and have no issues there.

I am using a new Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop with a 3200 x 1800 display. Though in general the high-DPI scaling works to keep text sharp for most webpages (something that cannot be said for Chrome or Opera), Flash does not scale with the rest of the website. For example, when I watch a Youtube video, the text, objects, etc. scale appropriately, but the buttons for the flash player are very small.

I am a web developer, and I have a page that is a middle tier interface for my site. It is not used on a daily basis, but it requires about 10 Drop Down Lists, that have about 1200 List Items Each.
The page loads very quickly and displays in firefox, then it becomes unresponsive for about 5 seconds. After that time you can work normally, but if it posts back and needs to render again, the same thing happens. I replicated on multiple PC's in version 25.0
Is this a known issue?

Returned to the add on menu. Only six add ons were functioning. Add to this lost it's restart icon. Everthing behind that had to be re-opened. Did that. Restarted the browser. Same dead bunched behind
Add to this. I am setting up my wife's pc. Brand new. It is a LenovoThinkCenter 92z, Windows 8 os.
Not much else. I am loving the 64 bit it runs fine on my Sony w/ Windows 7. ANd that is the way it will stay til end of life.

One solution deep in help is 'Re-initializing the plugins database'. This really works but I wonder is there some way I could run this each time I start up Firefox to pre-empt the problem with Flash?

I PIN them now.} That's a credit union, a bank, my mobile account, and transportation guide. That means four handy helps under my finger tips.

Four four years ... FOR four years, this worked admirably. That was on the old ACER, Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit.

"OK, you, I'll reset it again..." And I do and it happens again. Then I discovered this option.... get advice from the good people of Firefox at Mozilla.org

I want to change the program firefox uses to scan files I download. I think it doesn't have my AVG selected. When I download the EICAR test file, I don't get a virus alert. When I scan it afterwards AVG does recognise it as a virus. So I think something isn't set up right and because of that the scan on downloaded files isn't done by AVG.
