I'm struggling to disable this behavior of firefox. When I type "something: text", it's opening a pop-up asking "Open link with System Handler?".

I would rather just search the internet for "something: text".

How can I do that?

I've tried to play with parameters like network.protocol-handler.expose.something network.protocol-handler.app.something network.protocol-handler.external.something network.protocol-handler.warn-external.something

but didn't manage to do it

A while back they made an annoying change to the search field and I wondering if there's a setting to get it back to the way it was.

My default search is Google but lets say I want to buy something. I type "garden hose" in the search field and switch the search to Amazon. Nothing happens. It used to go automatically at that point. Now I need to press enter or the arrow next to the search field. Not a big deal but why did they change that?

Next I want to find out about the 15th US president. I open another tab and search for the "15th president" and it goes to Amazon again. I realized I changed my default search engine. It used to be that I could temporarily change the search engine and it would immediately go back to my default.

I think these 2 facts make the current search field much worse than before.

Is there some way to change it back? I looked over the settings but couldn't find anything.

While I enjoy the capability of selecting a search engine as I see fit, I would prefer that my local drives take precedence. Is there an easy way to enable this for everyday casual use? In other words, can I specify "search local drives first, followed by the web i.e. casting a wider net to search on the world wide web, and an arbitrary third placeholder such as foreign sources (example only) or foreign news items (again, fictitious example)

As a loyal and long time user of Firefox [since 1998 yes 1998 ,,,] if you or i cant remove google from my browser , i might have to find a replacement, that will allow me to remove this nonsense , i await your response ATB BlackSam

I’m feeling very … filtered by google or safari search engines and haven’t done any research into other search engine options, though I’ve heard other people mention other search engines that are less filtered that I didn’t remember the name of. I hadn’t even really thought of this before but someone recently talked about how all the information is out there on the Internet (which I knew, Duhr 😂) but like a pair of craftily sculpted goggles, each device, OS, search engine simply filters the results I have access to and yet, I still search using Chrome. Wtf? Can you help me? Help me snap out of my bubble?! 😂 I keep falling asleep and forgetting to find a way to be more safe (as I know I’ve been with you on my laptop for yeeears) and also be “allowed” to have access to more info in the big wide world on the Internets? 😜 Do you guys have a search engine? And/or do you guys know the direction to point me in to become a more aware and present human being on the internet who remains safe from all the bs and is also not filtered down into a granule of human pellet feed that they can dissolve into lusch and control, limit, feed off of for profit, leaving me in a vulnerable position to blackmail or destroy? LMAO! 🤣 🥹😳 Really though… I trust Firefox and have used this browser for years. For years now though, I’ve been only on my iPhone and forgot about Firefox until just now because I just “went with this”, brainlessly, on my iPhone and there are certain options one is fed when adopting the iPhone (and Firefox is definitely _not_ one of them!). Would you, could you please expand my horizons, safely with you guys? Or whatever you recommend, please? I’d be so grateful for any pointers, help, info, education that you can offer me! The release notes for Firefox 153 beta show a way to get the color picker.

Quickly pick and copy a color from any page by typing "pick color", "color picker", or "eyedropper" in the address bar and selecting the "Pick a color" quick action.

This does not work for me. Typing any of the proposals in the address bar just uses the normal search without showing the possibility to select the color picker.

I use google account No.1 for log in Mozilla Also I use google account No.2 When I open new tab / type request / google search give me results using google account No.2 I can`t change it. If it`s possible - please advise how

The very first time I opened Firefox and tried to do a search I got a hijacker:

Why?

I did a scan with both Malwarebytes and with TotalAV, no detections.

I stopped using Chrome and Brave because I had another hijacker (Yohoo!). I used Malwarebytes to quarantine and delete that because my paid subscription to TotalAV didn't find it. Now I'm stuck with an all new different hijacker upon installation of Firefox.

When is do a search in Firefox I noticed that it now searches with "rini.drorinat.com" is this still Firefox or have I been violated? I tried to look up this site but no success, could you help with this asap please?

Why is the address bar now a search? This is annoying. How can I change this? I have already change about:config settings to false and nothing changes.

I have disabled all the other search settings in order to get rid of this field years ago. Now, suddenly it starts to show up again. I go to the settings, somehow it has all renabled itself, so I disable it. And yet, it STILL shows up with no content in it. How do I remove this?

In this version of Firefox 152 for windows I'm currently unable to remove search related to google, ebay, perplexity and bing.

Please return possibility to remove those completely!

I don't want my browser to have anything to do with those listed above. I have had it removed in previous versions. Why did you add it to browser again?! Why don't you allow to remove it anymore?!
