After clicking on Delete cookies and Cache for only ONE particular website, in Cookies and Site Data, Manage Data then closing Firefox and restarting it, it lost ALL of my Tabs, previous browsing session history and my Bookmarks Setting which was pinned on the left side of the screen and the Menu Bar! I tried Refreshing Firefox but that didn't help. Under Startup, I had the box selected to Restore Previous Session. What's going on with Firefox?? This is especially frustrating because I don't have time to waste trying to fix Firefox---especially while simply trying to fix a problem with one website which as made thing worse.

Why should this problem occur and how can I get all of my previous settings back shortly and make then stay?

I am trying to keep a work (Windows 10) and home computer (Mac/Mojave) in sync for my Firefox settings. I have long been on beta update channel at home (now 80.0b3) but work machine is locked down to release version only (not sure which one that is).

I get the following error when I try to sync or open a release channel version of Firefox

"You've launched an older version of Firefox.

Using an older version of Firefox can corrupt bookmarks and browsing history already saved to an existing Firefox profile. To protect your information, create a new profile for this version of Firefox."

This error dialog offers no options for 'override'.

I need my current user profile to work across platforms and on release channel. I have customizations that I cannot recreate because FF made it too hard to find out how to recreated long-ago and necessary modifications (like killing that bleeping 'throbbing' tab slider that I cannot cope with....and others I don't even know how to describe.

I don't care about bookmarks and browsing history--I never save history and I know how to export, save, and reimport bookmarks.

I care only about my about:config, userchrome and prefs.js and the like.

How can I get around this BUG?

And: am I the only one who thinks the throbbing slider on the loading tabs is the creation of the devil? I can't avoid getting distracted by it--the visual noise is intolerable especially in a work environment.

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone has seen this issue before. Only recently, last few weeks, I have noticed that if I have a browser window or my second or third monitor, I can see a border on my main monitor.

I have attached an image of the issue. I don't have the problem with any other app or browser.

Thanks,

Stephen.

Is anyone else getting this sudden downloads of EDGE browser from Microsoft for Windows 10? I got some big July 2020 Cumulative Updates, Security Updates, etc. last week and installed them. They also installed something for EDGE which was a window that would not close and was forcing me to go through a bunch of windows and fill out "activation" info. I finally opened Windows Task Manager and ended the task to shut it down. I then tried to uninstall it but more installation was being forced onto my laptop. Finally after a few days the uninstall button was highlighted in the list of "apps" and I was able to uninstall it. Today I got an update on my malware protection software subscription from a different company. It restarted my laptop, which was fine, however it brought an install yet again of EDGE, but I use Mozilla Firefox faithfully and have for years. Big fan of Mozilla and I donate every year and try to participate in surveys and all that. I have Firefox in my Windows 10 settings as my default browser. Nonetheless it keeps being foisting on me. I don't know how to reach Mozilla but I suspicion I am not the only one highly annoyed by this aggressive repeat downloading stuff. What I thought I could do is start a thread in the Mozilla Community and see if enough other people are upset. Perhaps Mozilla can do something with Microsoft about this. I would think Google's Chrome users are also upset by this. It is annoying the hell out of me because it just takes over my laptop and I can't get into my Start Menu or anything else because it is forcing me to activate it. I will also be complaining to Microsoft for whatever good that does and looking at forums to see if there is any backlash from other users.

I'm trying to access this site www.foodnetwork.com and always en up on www.tudiscovery.com/foodnetwork which is not what I want. I don't know when Discovery started the IP redirect because I could access the original Food Network site without any problem until last year. Is there a way to avoid this redirect in Firefox because the only solution I found so far is using TorBrowser. Thank you

I have a dual monitor setup with one monitor above my laptop screen. After I play a fullscreen video in Firefox on the top display there will be a one pixel segment of the Firefox window showing at the top of the laptop display whenever the Firefox window has focus and is maximised on the top display.

The way to make it disappear is to close and relaunch Firefox.

Troubleshooting so far: 1) I have tried fullscreen with different video sites and had the same issue. 2) I have tried with another browser (Edge) and didn't have the same issue.

Ok. So Im on Arch Linux. Tried downgrading 78, works correctly. I have firefox dev edition ver 80 and the left channel is about 64x quiter than right. Does any one have similar problem or knows how to fix it? Firefox problem - confirmed (ALSA, pulse with or without jack aren't the problem there) It's not a preference, setting, addon - confirmed. (started browser with brand new browser profile) Isn't update problem - disconfirmed (It did break after update. Downgrading and faking profile(browser version) worked fine.)

any help, or even a way to find what and where it is caused would be helpful. I did look into a shit ton of setting and debug menus, to find that everything is in norm.

(pls ignore these extensions, i will do cleanup soon and they aren't a problem here anyways)

I seem to have a 'bug' being introduced through firefox when I view youtube videos. it does not happen right away, it takes a few videos to happen. The partial solution I have found so far (having done this twice so far in almost as many days, and about to do it a second in one day.) is to do a complete uninstall of firefox, then do a windows defender offline scan (which seems to knock out whatever is left in the machine, it won't tell me what was found.) then to come back into win10 and doing a clean install which seems to work well enough (having multiple tabs open [I do miss being able to have large numbers of open tabs and not having my machine going nuts]) till I break down and check the youtube channels that I like to keep up with. main noticeable symptom is my machines cooling fan going into 'hyper' drive, then checking task manager and finding firefox using almost two gigs of memory and 40+% of cpu capacity. As I type this, with just one tab open, firefox is showing 563.3 MB and seven (7) sub? programs running. Before this latest flair up, for one tab open it would be under 400MB and five programs running?

Add-ons I run on Firefox: uBlock Origin, Adblock Plus, and DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials

My system: AMD A9-9425 RadeonR5,5 Compute Cores 2C+3G 3,10GHz

                   8GB of ram 7.45 usable
                   WIN 10 Home Ver. 1909         {64 bit}

Hello,

Since a while i noticed that the aspect ratio of firefox is off. There is a little line on the bottom and left side of the window. It's only a few pixels wide, but enough for my mouse to not recognize it as a window. It's slowly been driving me mad, since i can't click on the far left side of the screen and my cursor stays there when i watch a video fullscreen.

Anyone have any solutions for this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi! Since a few months I can't open the opening folder after downloading a file.

Normally, I download a file, then click on the button "open containing folder" on the right of the download file. the default file manager opens up then at the level just above the file downloaded. But, a few months ago, this stopped working: Clicking on "open containing folder" launches the file manager but directly at the level of the file: And this makes the file manager launches the file by the way with the default program.

Settings: Arch Linux, Firefox 79
