Crashing, Memory Spikes, Utter Slowness

This has been going on for awhile, I've made posts about similar issues but I have yet to hear anything. My Firefox is "broken" I guess that would be the perfect term for, At least my Firefox. I experience slowdowns on all webpages, it crashes, it freezes, I get what seems like an unlimited amount of "Unresponsive scripts" which forces me to use task manager to end the Firefox process because waiting for it to debug itself or letting the script load does nothing at all. Even the great check-able "Do not remind me again box" does nothing, I don't even bother checking the box because if there's another unresponsive script, even though its the same error the notification pops up still.

Firefox's memory usage spikes from 500k-900k all the way to 2million, I have exited Firefox and have also tried to use the task manager to end the process when it spikes because Firefox is unusable when it gets that high. Even though when I completely exit out of the Firefox program and use task manager to end the process, If I start Firefox back up the memory usage will climb back to where it was which is usually around the 1.5mil range then from there it goes to as high as 2.3mil then just crashes on me.

This has been going on for awhile now and nothing seems to be worked on.

Okay, here's what just happened. I go to type up an email response , i usually go Ctr+A to select the entire text when i'm responding and i click the Space button to clear it, and firefox crashed. Now.. that's never happened before and it kept happening everytime i tested it. Has that come up before? What could be making that happen?

Yesterday I discovered a pop-up attached to my Mozilla Firefox, it was essentially a white box, with a grey bar inside, which I dangerously clicked as it would not allow me to close or access my Mozilla. Clicking the box revealed an ad for something call PC Keeper which now also shows in my remembered links as being in a second window. I was forced to shut down my computer to close the Mozilla, making all my links unavailable to me, and ultimately had to uninstall it from my computer. I attempted to reinstall a new version, but, again found this PC Keeper attached to it, it's white window firmly locking everything up, and forcing me again to uninstall the program. Please, find me a way to once more have my Mozilla without this PC Keeper.

Recently I was cleaning some malware/viruses/spyware/worms and all other nasty files located on hard drive of computer. Actually I still have them but this is NOT the purpose of my message. The problem is that I lost everything in Firefox. All my bookmarks that I cannot live without are gone. ALL. Each and every bookmark is gone. Saved passwords are gone. Addons are gone. Online banking certificate is gone. Also when I click CTRL T to add new tab in same window I get extremely annoying squares (3 lines and each line with 5 squares) which are graphically showing websites I have visited. Please if someone could help me to get everything back, particularly bookmarks are extremely important.

I tried to do three possible tasks but neither of them worked.

TASK ONE:

Usage of about:<wbr>profiles command in address bar but it is reporting error message saying The address isn't valid.

TASK TWO (consisting of multiple steps):

step 1: finding old firefox profiles I could manage to find. I hope they are NOT all otherwise I am in huge trouble. Hopefully something was overlooked and you will see why in upcoming steps.

step 2: clicking Open menu icon on the left hand side of firefox consisting of three horizontal lines and click Open Help Menu icon and then click Troubleshooting Information

step 3: clicking about:profiles in section Application Basics. Here I then added every single profile I am aware of via button Create A New Profile

step 4: for each of profile I got listed, I clicked on Launch profile in new browser and my bookmarks, together with other settings (online banking certificate, saved passwords, addons,...) were NOT ( !!! ) there. In neither of profile. I pray that I overlooked some saved profile...

TASK THREE:

Bookmarks menu\Show All Bookmarks\Import And Backup\Restore. However, In this submenu Restore there is nothing to be restored.

Someone please help me as I really need to get, particularly but not only bookmarks, back.

How to !!completely!! uninstall corrupt installation? It keeps crashing!

I can't type barely a word or two into any search box, or data field of any web site and it CRASHES! I tried changing the search engine to Bing, Google, Duckduckgo It will crash even any data field of any web site. I had to type this entry into Notepad and paste it in because it Firefox kept crashing ON FIREFOX'S OWN SURVEY WEB PAGE! I have tried REFRESH. I have restarted in Safe Mode and started a new session. I have updated Firefox to 58.02 (64 bit) I have turned off "check spelling as you type, just in case it was that. No difference. I have done an uninstall, reboot, and reinstall. Updated my graphics driver per one forum sugestion

This is repeatable, every time. I have sent dozens of crash report with my email address and "allow mozilla to contact me about this report" checked off and still I have heard nothing.

I have used Firefox for many years and am always current, as I am with Windows 10, but the last few updates have caused major problems:

1. At times I get a red screen Firefox Critical Error which usually locks up my PC. Sometimes I can free it up with Cntl/Alt/Del, but sometimes I cannot even shut down, have to physically unplug the PC. The screen says to call a phone number for Microsoft support, but this is a 3rd-party company selling software which has somehow compromised Firefox. I reported this before but no one seems to be doing anything about it.

2.Although I have checked Block pop-up windows under Permissions, I now get suspicious pop-up windows the first time I click on many web pages. If I immediately close these, I can then use the page fine. Is there something else I need to do to block these pop-ups?

Each time I start Firefox I get a warning pop-up from malwarebytes advising me of an outbound request from Firefox to a malicious site "bestwaytosearch.com". I have checked the home page settings and reset it, checked the search engines along with add-in and extensions. I have also cleared the history and browsing cache but just can not get rid of it.

Yes I can exclude it but that would only mask the problem.

it is not my fault that if I download an add-on, it turns out to be a malicious add-on that executes remote codes. You are telling me: "This is not monitored for security through Mozilla's Recommended Extensions program. Make sure you trust it before installing." How can I trust it if I don't know anything about it?? or if it is new? -Most of people here who are downloading add-ons are normal users like me, not people who understand codes and developing.- Read reviews?? Do I understand from you that some people have to sacrifice for us so the rest can know if it is bad or good add-on? And by the way Reading reviews is not enough, For example Few months ago I downloaded a VPN similar to another one, lots of reviews say it is good, so I used it for maybe 1 month then I disabled it and stopped using it. Today I look at it in the disabled add-ons list, I find this message: "VPN has been disabled due to security or stability issues." I read more information about it, it turned out that it was executing remote codes....... That means I shouldn't even trust reviews!! Nothing happened to my firefox browser, but (it may happen) in the future, because of the already executed remote codes or or maybe those codes stole some information about me,....I don't know, but it may get worse who knows what those executed codes do.....

Refresh did not fix startgo123 hijack

Have followed ALL suggestions from the web to remove this hijack with no luck. I then refreshed Firefox (v48.0) and even the default is still hijacked. Newtab always end… (Lesen Sie mehr)

If I restart FF with all add-ons disabled, it's OK, but there are NO extensions or add-ons installed that I don't know about. All were installed by me some time ago.

Please help. I am going crazy trying to solve this.

No malware scans find this, no supposed programs to fix it can find it. Where can it be hiding?

Using Windows 7 64bit. Firefox opens and runs a separate page in the background. The extra page does not open and the only way to see it is to open ctrl/alt/delete and that is the only way to close it but I have to go to processes to close it, it will not close in applications. Today Firefox a page loaded in the background before I opened my FF browser. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice to no avail. I have removed all themes - nothing. Please help me fix this, I have used Firefox for years and love it but this latest mess is causing my computer to overload its ram and loading too many temp files.

I have been battling the malware that redirects webpages. From what I've read, it is caused by leading one to download a fake Firefox and installing it. The following is the vector I think led me to do this. It is a .pdf file. The first page is blank. You page to the second page and there is the button to download a manual (this is the one I was looking for). But that button takes you to a fake page telling you to upgrade Firefox. There is now a redirect that warns you not to do this ... but allows you to travel at your own risk. If anyone is going after the culprits, this link will lead you to one of them.

In case anyone is interested. I went to the Mozilla site and downloaded and installed Firefox 50.1.0 hoping to fix the problem. So far I don't think it has.

So every time I try to download a file and choose "open with" (instead of "save file"), the file opens and then Firefox crashes. It does this on any website, any file type. If I choose "Save File" instead, it downloads the file and there are no problems (it just adds the extra step of navigating to the folder where the file was downloaded to open it). I have completely uninstalled Firefox, deleted every trace of it from my PC (appdata, Program Files, registry, etc), and reinstalled. No change, still crashes every time I choose "Open with". This has been going on for at least a few months I think.

I'm using Firefox V53.0.3 (32 bit) on a Windows 10 laptop (V 1607, Build 14939.1198).

Firefox will start to slow down in page scrolling, hang and then crashes when one the following is perform:

1. Play any video in Facebook.

Video loading is almost always stuttering even when Internet speed is normal. During buffering, Firefox will slow in responding to page scrolling, then hang for less than a minute before shut down itself.

Sometime it asked about sending a crash report, while sometime it said it was unable to create one.

2. Plain browsing and scrolling down certain websites like Facebook (no watching any video) and 9gag.

When browse and scroll extensively, with the right scrolling bar minimized to the smallest size and reached almost the bottom of the column, loading becomes slows down even when internet speed is normal. Firefox will then behave as describe in (1).

P/S: Situation (1) and (2) cannot be reproduced in Youtube and Twitter, respectively.

P/S/S: Have installed and been using the same Firefox browser for years, the problems only developed recently.

I tried refresh and reset Firefox, but it won't helped.

This problem just happen lately, starting around one week ago I think. When I try to paste some URL from google sheet or sometimes I click some link to open in new tab, the webpage will load a blank white page, and the page tab will show the "http://www.example.com" (with quotation mark) instead of the page title. And I need to refresh once again, sometimes two.. for the page to load correctly

Any suggestion to fix this?

Thousands of JonuiCouupon type files are being written into AppData/Local/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/.../cache2/entries.

Something had infected my computer. With help I've removed most of the bad effects, but what remains is files of type JonuiCouupon being written into the Firefox Profiles area. When I delete the Profile, it creates a new one and starts writing them again. 38,000 files in the last week, totaling 330 MB.
