Hi,

When i open a new tab, i want to start my research in the central search bar of the home page, not in the adress bar.

So in firefox 89, i put the parameter "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar" to false. And it worked.

With firefox 90, it dit not work anymore.

How can i retrieve the previous behaviour ?

1. 1. Most bookmarks icons disappeared.
2. 2. I can't delete all the bookmarks with no icon.
3. 3. I can't export bookmarks by clicking neither Restore... nor Export Bookmarks in HTLM. Nothing happens.

I'd like to decrease the font size and change the font type in the pull down bookmarks menus. Is there a way to do that? There is no effect after tried Fonts and Colors under Preferences - Language & Appearance. Thanks.

I cannot create a new login when I try I get this error message "An error occurred while trying to save this password". Whenever I open a new site and am asked if I want to save the password I click yes. When I check the logins/passwords on FF it's empty. I found someone else had this same issue and tried what was suggested and it did not work for me. I really need to save several passwords. This is quite frustrating. Help!

Hello! As said, my laptop died suddenly a day ago. I had Firefox Sync activated. I have now installed Firefox in the new machine, logged into Sync but Sync is not syncing anything. Not even being able to "see" that I had a laptop before.

Any options to bring back my bookmarks?

I have a 2007 iMac and need a version of Firefox that will operate on MAC OS10.5.8

To be clear: I am NOT trying to update the computer. It is end-of-life. I just want to use it as a spare and have internet access.

I'm running Mojave 10.14.6 on a MacMini (late 2018) with 64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 and Firefox v86.0 64-bit.

I need to disable Command+D that's currently used to "Bookmark This Page".

I need Command+D for another use.

I've searched about:config for "bookmark" and get a lot of hits, but I can't tell which one controls the setting for Command+D.

Or . . . am I barking up the wrong tree?

I want to disable Command+D.

Leaving the ability to mouse up and click Bookmarks > "Bookmark This Page" is ok.

I just need to disable the keyboard shortcut Command+D for "Bookmark This Page".

Anyone got a "howto" for this?

I raised the problem and had a response kindly trying to assist but after following all the steps advised I still can't access any bookmarks or history.

I have located the places.sqlite file as advised and renamed it but when I restart Firefox nothing changes and it makes no attempt to recover bookmarks from the backup files.

I would welcome any assistance as I have saved details I need.

I am using a Mac with Big Sur Version 11.4. Firefox version is 91.0. When I am using ancestry.ca and as an example I right click on a link to open a new tab it will say

The page isn’t redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

   This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies

I have deleted all cookies it makes no difference. I have disabled all enhanced tracking protection features. I have cleared the cache as well. I have put ancestry.ca in I have disabled https everywhere. Before the update this was working fine.  When I go to Safari and do the exact same thing it works fine.

Instagram crashes on firefox every few days, happens when reading posts or watching stories (no new content is loading during crash). Happens only on firefox, never on other websites. Happen every few days, when I press reload the website after crash, it works temporarily, but it may happen after some days. My network is good enough.

using 91.0 (64bit) firefox, macOS Big Sur 11.5.1, both latest version

tried delete cookies and history, turn off hardware acceleration. I didn't install any extra extensions.

feel angry everytime crash, didn't manage to submit crash report, just do it now, not sure how it could help though

Hi! I'm going nuts. I have Firefox set to NOT remember sessions when I close and re-open. But every time I re-open the (latest) Firefox on my (up to date) Mac, 3 tabs reappear. It doesn't matter how often I delete history or cookies or empty caches. They are not even 3 tabs from the most recent session! They are from a week ago. And no, they are not pinned tabs!

And yes, I have reinstalled Firefox.

Any idea what I should do?

MAC OS Monterey Verrsion 12.0.1 but problem preceded this update

Tried all suggestions listed but the problem persists. All videos function in Safari.

Started a few days ago. Upon shutting down my Mac at night and turning it on in the morning, I always have to log back in to my Google accounts. This doesn't happen with any other websites and I do not have the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" setting enabled.

If I simply quit Firefox without shutting down my computer, I remain logged in to Google. It's only after a shutdown that I get logged off.

Well, even the pulldown is not working here. None of the solutions for the garbled text works for me (and now that pulldown option isn't always working) and I am about to permanently change to Safari after years of being a Firefox advocate and user. Without any way to actually ask an actual person about this question/problem and not being a programmer I am exceedingly frustrated and disappointed. I do have to agree with the commenter who said we shouldn't have to go through this just to get a website to display. I've tried several times to upload an image but frankly I feel like just giving up

Hi for the website https://jh.railwire.co.in/ my password is getting filled but my username is not filling. Things that I have tried 1. I have checked the Mozilla in safe mode 2. There is not option in context menu to fill the username 3. I am not using the any password manager

It's so frustrating that the keyboard shortcut for closing tabs is right beside the one to quit Firefox. I've lost countless hours because of this, and it's so easy to accidentally do. Is there a way to keep this from happening? A simple "Are you sure" confirmation dialog would be great, or I really like the Chrome "hold command-Q" to exit feature. This seemingly simple function is proving extremely difficult to accomplish.

Yes, I'm aware of session restore, but (1) It does not preserve my window arrangement. I use multiple desktops for various tasks, and they each have related browser windows. (2) I need to see webpages exactly as they were when I opened them. Sessions expire, dynamic pages are refreshed, content is removed etc. That is all lost.

I do not want to disable session restore completely. It can still be useful. But, I do not want to trigger session restore automatically every time. Manual activation is ideal.

regarding: "browser.tabs.warnOnClose" I do not want a warning for closing multiple tabs. I often have many windows open and that warning gets annoying. It also doesn't prevent me from accidentally quitting when I only have one tab open.

I tried setting browser.warnOnQuit to true, but it's ignored.

I simply want a confirmation when I use the keyboard shortcut to QUIT. That's it. No side effects. Can Firefox do this?
