When I start Firefox it makes upto 15 https:// connections to cloudfront.net and something else. I altered the about:config and did this as shown in another post, but to no avail browser.selfsupport.url. double-click it and change its value to a blank string Here is a sreen grab of the connections I get on start-up, sometimes it takes about 5 mins before I can use the internet. (I have almsot the slowest connection in the UK, at 0.03 MB/sec, 34kbps), so this would only slow down a fast connection for a matter of seconds. I live high in the mountains with no wi-fi and only an old copper phone line to carry my signal.

So I unpinned the shortcut from the task bar and pinned the Firefox start button (from the Start menu) to the task bar. Now Firefox is responsive but my bookmarks are missing. I went to "about:profiles" and saw that there are two profiles now. If I select the original profile I again get the 5 faulty instances of Firebox. I can't figure out how to import my bookmarks into the new profile. Any help?

I often use two Firefox instances side-by-side, splitting the screen in half by dragging each instance to the left and right edges, allowing Windows 10 to anchor them as half-screen windows.

Due to limited screen size, I'd like to be able to select full screen on each window and have them go full screen, but only within the window, not each enlarging to fill the entire display.

The reason for this is that I want to eliminate the tabs and menu bar, and the Windows taskbar from view in order to see more of the browser content. Naturally, the only way I've been able to do this so far is to have a two-monitor setup, full screening Firefox on each one.

Think of it as a manifesto or cry of the soul. I ask the moderators to bring these wishes to the developers.

You may not take me seriously, but I think you should listen to me, because I express the opinion of a large number of users. Feedback should be important to you, while you unfortunately lose your position. Developers are simply required to submit an official release of the portable version. Everyone needs personal space, and you yourself have planted this victorious banner proclaiming the protection of personal data. Give us this with a portable version. We spend a lot of time at work, we travel a lot today, we always need a reliable browser at hand. If the browser in the devices could replace the full version, the mobile version would not exist.

In the portable version I want to see: - security for data, the history of work on a PC for a browser from USB should not be saved. - There must be an authenticated login to start working with the browser. - strong encryption of passwords and cache. - Full synchronization, history, tabs, and sessions. It would be desirable to configure it so that it would work at the request of the user for a specific instance completely. This can be configured from one standard for another version or for all at once, or make everyone equal.

Now about the interface as a whole. And although I admire your stubbornness and identity, please look at the competitors, it will not give you such things: - minimalism like chrome (everyone is furious with extra elements, in opera it is a side panel or a button with an emblem, let me customize the working panel more flexible, as I used to, make the icons smaller) (remove the window frame in KDE 5 1 million thanks) - workspaces and a portable version like an opera (there is plenty of room for this on the work panel) (portability and mobility are great) - synchronization (I want to see the browser like you left it in another place, in another OS, on another PC, or after the portable version. If I consider it necessary to separate something, then this should be offered to be solved by synchronization settings, or workspaces)

I like firefox a lot. Your ideals and aspirations are close to me. I respect the work done by your team. And until the age of portable PCs the size of a USB flash drive (hi USB 4) has come, you can still fight for users.

P.S. Very soon the whole web will change, you yourself have launched many processes for this. Your attempts to create an OS are bold. But it seems to me that Google is more visionary. Every service becomes a mobile application over time, it happened because mobile devices are handy. WEB is not yet so flexible, and the service has not yet become as convenient a website as the application on a smartphone now, but everything will change in the future. The OS will be more like a browser with add-ons than the set of icons in your smartphone now. I wish you success.

After upgrading to 74 from 73.0.1 I noticed that although my session (tabs) was restored, several cookies were either missing, overwritten, or cannot be read by the host website. For example, when I attempt to browse the youtube homepage, it is as if I never visited the site before; the recommended videos are random and the site defaulted back to the ugly new design. I never log into youtube so restoring that session is the only way to get the algorithm to recommend the random junk I like to watch lol.

My facebook account was also logged out.

The session cookies come up when I search for them from the options menu, but the session ID or whatever has likely been changed. Is there any way I can restore the old session cookies from a backup/earlier FF session? Where are individual cookies even stored now? Seems like they're all dumped into some obscure local database within an obscure folder with thousands of files that ordinary users cannot service themselves.

I miss the old .txt file approach. I know the security issues but then again I have a separate machine for watching funny videos on the internet and browsing facebook. I pity the fool that wastes any time hacking this thing lmao.

Hi,

Today I installed the new Firefox 74 but now my multirow bookmarks toolbar is not working correct anymore. They are not side by side, they are now among one another. See attached screen, ca. 75% of the screen is used by the bookmarks.

The following code is contained in my userChrome.css file:

/* Multi-Row Bookmarks Toolbar Firefox 66+ */

#PersonalToolbar {
  min-height: unset !important;
  max-height: unset !important;
/* text-align: center !important; */
}

#PersonalToolbar #PlacesToolbarItems {
  overflow-x: visible !important;
  overflow-y: visible !important;
  display: inline-block !important;
}

#PlacesToolbarItems > .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-icon[label]:not([label=""]) {
  /* Reduce padding on individual bookmarks to fit rows closer together */
  margin-inline-end: 0px !important;
}

Does anybody have a solution for this?

PS: If you need more info, please ask...

Best regards heusmich

The update today to 74 lost all my customized, userchrome.css stuff and the row of bookmarks that used to be at the top now go down the left size, or right side if I want, but I want it at the top. Userchrome does not seem to recognized either as I put what I had kept, back in the a chrome folder in the profile folder.

Two computers updated to 74.0 (64 bit) today. Prior to the update no problems. After the update several sites are ignored on both machines. No errors, warnings, etc. It is as if you never entered the url. Tried about 50 sites, found 4 that don't work (ones I use regularly). Found a thread about 70.1 that sounded similar which suggested setting dom.storage.next_gen to false. Checked and it was already false. Tried safe mode - no difference.

Hi. There is this at least three years old GUI bug that is not yet fixed, I'm writing this post to show the temporary workaround and hopefully get more interest in the bug itself. This would be an urgent usability bug, but it's still here because probably not everyone can reproduce it.

Link to one of the bug reports: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1504021

> Description

Removing the title bar doesn't set an offset for the right-click menu → the right-click menu will appear slightly wrong positioned, with its first entry below the mouse cursor → the first entry of the menu will get a mouse-release event and will trigger.

The effect of this can be different depending on what you right-click:

  • right-click some empty area in a web-page: you will be taken back to the previous page (because the first menu entry does that)
  • right-click a link: you will open the link in a new tab (because the first menu entry does that)

> Steps

  • Have a non-maximized Firefox window.
  • Disable the title bar (through the "Customize..." option)
  • Right-click anywhere on a webpage: you will be taken to the previous page.

> Workaround

Enable user styles by setting toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true. Create "chrome" folder in your profile directory. Inside, create "userChrome.css", and write:

   #contentAreaContextMenu{ margin: 20px 0 0 20px }
