I have the HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY and FTP_PROXY (and their lowercase counterparts) exported and then the firefox binary is started from the shell script. The settings in firefox say it will 'Use system proxy settings'. Nevertheless I do not see the proxy being used as I can not access the web pages that need the proxy. The 'about:config' also does not show that firefox picked up any proxy related information from the shell environment.

I know the proxy address is correct because if I use brave browser instead of firefox (same shell script that launches brave) I can reach the web pages behind the proxy as expected.

Installed Firefox 122 in a new Windows 10 installation and added some extensions (e.g. Gesturefly, Update Scanner, uBlock Origin, Uppity). These pinned fine on my old installation. But I cannot find how to pin them on the new.

All the help I have found Googling, or using search here, says go to the Add-ons Manager page and right-click the extension and use "pin to toolbar". Alternatively click the extension and click the gear icon and use "pin to toolbar". But when I right-click there is no pin to toolbar context menu entry. If I left-click the gear I get "Check for Updates, View Recent Updates, Install Add-on From File, Debug Add-ons, Update Add-ons Automatically, Reset All Add-ons to Update Automatically, Manage Extension Shortcuts". If I right-click the gear I get a line of icons (left, right, reload, star) followed by "Open Image in New Tab, Copy Image Link, Email Image, Save Page As, Select All, View Pate Source, Inspect Accessibility Properties, Inspect (Q)". If I right-click the extension in the Add-ons Manager page itself, I get a very similar list. In no case is there a pin to toolbar option.

How do I pin an extension, given the above? What have I messed up?

Hey! I use Firefox to create my websites, but the browser no longer saves (file:///C:/sukujut/list_1/Mattimakinen.htm) htm data and images. It only stores small files and image quantities, but not the size I need (e.g. 22mt). I create an htm file and an image file through family stories, open them in the Firefox browser, and after the page opens, I save them as a web page, the whole thing - in a Microsoft Expression Web program file. At this point, if the file is even slightly larger, it will save the htm file, but not the image file at all. A warning triangle appears next to the save button and the message: download failed. Mattimakinen.htm - download failed - local file.

I have reinstalled firefox, no help. The browser saves the plain htm file, but not with the photos. I am currently doing genealogy and an important area is photographs.

Google search no longer works on Firefox. Other browsers have no problems. Changing the default search engine on Firefox works (eg Bing), BUT. It can now find Google Maps, but Google Maps cannot find a location, because it uses a Google search. I tried the fix in about:config, but it had no effect.

This morning I could not log into the Schwab customer website using current Firefox version 123.0 on Windows 11. Reverting to version 122.0b9 solved the problem. Before the reversion I tried clearing cache, history, passwords, etc, and I tried a full reinstall of version 123.0. What else would prevent a connection to Schwab when other websites worked fine?

I can not log into my Harley ride planner account. Its not the websight as I can log in on my I phone. I get this message.The resource at “https://www.harley-davidson.com/etc/designs/h-d/images/dropdown-arrow-white-2.png” was blocked by OpaqueResponseBlocking. Reason: “nosniff is true and mimeType is an opaque-blocklisted MIME type or its essence is 'text/plain'”. How do I fix this? Thank you Paul

Firefox is broken. For months now anytime I watch a Live stream on Youtube it freezes within seconds and acts like it's buffering. Internet connection is great. Same live streams work perfect on Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and others. Only Firefox browser is doing this.

I'm trying to use a manual proxy server for Firefox. When entering the proxy address and port number, Firefox outlines the port number field in red and disables the OK button thus refusing to accept my assigned port number. I'm trying to use port number 29842 which was given to me by the proxy provider.

I noticed my laptop was being slow, so I looked at the memory usage. Firefox was using a whopping 5GB of memory on Windows 11. I then looked at about:process and it reported that extensions were using 4GB. I disabled each of my extensions and it still said it was using 4GB of memory. I then uninstalled two of them and re-enabled some extensions and it dropped to 781MB. This is still to much in my opinion, and I want to know how to figure out which extension is being so wasteful. Even a technique on how to figure it out would be appreciated.

I'm used to typing one or two letters into the address bar and then the down arrow to access the same handful of websites every day. A few weeks ago, Firefox started randomly moving these around so that the same letters that have always made it open the same URL now opens a different URL and I have to actually search the suggestions. How can this annoying behaviour be fixed?

(a few months ago, the address bar wouldn't delete entries, but this problem vanished as mysteriously as it appeared)

I have an add-on ad blocker for youtube and have never gotten ads. This afternoon that stopped. I get ads with every video I click and there is no 'skip ad' on the screen. I added another top rated youtube add blocker, quit firefox and then opened it again. Before, if I clicked a video it started an ad and I could go back and then hit the video again, but now that doesn't work, but if I select to show the video in a new tab, there are no ads in that tab. What can I do to make the ads stop like they used to and never appear? Yes and my OS is Ubuntu 22.04

I've encountered a recurring issue with Firefox on Ubuntu where my master password is sporadically not recognized when typed using my external wireless keyboard. I'm certain the password is entered correctly; after multiple careful attempts (3-5 times), the issue persists, leading to unnecessary stress and inconvenience.

All of a sudden (started today) Firefox will not load ANY websites, except Mozilla/firefox websites. All previous bookmarks, links, and typed in addresses do not load. No changes to virus protection, browser, or any other updates. Other browsers (chrome, opera) work fine.

When I close a private browsing session and open it again, the given permissions for cross-site cookies are still there and Google remembers my last search results from the last private session (in the suggestions below the search box)!?

When you switch the language in a text field, the focus on that text field is lost and the focus goes to another browser tab. This only happens if at this time a video is playing in mozilla in picture in picture mode with the Always on top option enabled. How to fix it? (Ubuntu 22.04)

I cannot log in to my Gmail account via www.google.pl in the Firefox browser. When I try to log in via www.google.pl, the Bad Request Error 400 message appears. The same problem occurs when I need to confirm login to other websites using a Google account. I simply can't log in anywhere. This problem does not occur in other search engines. A login icon appears on the www.google.com website, but not all related services from Google are available - Google account, Google Play, Gmail, Meet, Chat, Drive, Calendar, and Photos are unavailable - these are just the most important ones that don't work. Cookies are enabled. On December 25, 2023, this problem did not exist. I tried to restore Firefox to an earlier installation date, but it didn't help. I uninstalled the extensions and plug-ins. In the past two days, any add-on I add to FF browser. does not have a "Pin" option ellipsis activated . Some of my other settings are also botched up: tab used to open on hitting "return" among them.

All comments etc, are either convoluted, unintelligible, and ALL do not address this issue. If someone knows what to do, chime in. many of us have this issue. But please, have a real solution or don't bother us.

You may have heard about this, Youtube (and parent Google) have recently declared war on adblockers and non-Chrome browsers. I have reason to believe they have escalated that war to deliberately crash non-Chrome browsers, at least slowing them down to make them non-responsive.

In the past few days, browsing Youtube has caused my system to stop responding requiring a power cycle to clear the problem.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is this just a bad setting, or is Youtube acting as malicious as I believe them to be?
