I just got a new HP laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit), installed Firefox 11 (now updated to 12), and discovered that when using the track pad (Synaptics Touch Pad v8.1. Driver provided by Synaptics, version 15.3.29.0 dated 10/13/2011), I can not scroll inside drop down menus.

Click the drop down for the category to search. Use the track pad to scroll the list. Mine closes the list and returns focus to the browser instead of scrolling the list. It then scrolls the browser window instead. This works fine in IE. Things I have tried:

Safe mode Unchecking smooth scrolling Unchecking autoscrolling Unchecking hardware acceleration

And just about any of the various combinations of the above things. I also tried restarting Firefox each time I made a change. Nothing seems to solve this issue.

Oddly enough, if there is a text window inside the page (like the on I am writing this in), I can scroll that just fine. Once I move my mouse out of the box, it scrolls the main page just fine. I don't think it's a matter of the focus following the mouse, it has something to do with scrolling drop down boxes specifically it seems.

Also, I should note that all the pages I have problems with work fine in IE the way they SHOULD work in Firefox.

I've upgraded to FF4 12 Beta and there seems to be no way to save a session or tabs from previous session. I have changed or confirmed all the correct settings set to true in about:config for warnOnQuit, warnOnClose, etc, as well as edit>preferences to warn when closing multiple tabs. Still FF opens to a blank page though I set it to default and no tabs are saved. 11 Beta works fine. any ideas?

I use the Cache Status add-on and noticed last week that the disk cache half of it shows "Not Loaded Yet". At first I thought the problem was with the add-on, I even uninstalled and re-installed it, yet still got the same messsage. Then I realize the error message was because the disk cache is somehow not activated.

Other than upgrading to FF 11.0 last week I have made no changes to my configuration or installed any new add-ons in weeks. I have a few additional cache-related add-ons that I installed since I noticed this problem, done to diagnose this issue. All in their own way reiterate that disk cache is not working.

The page about:cache?device=disk is completely blank in my browser. The about:cache page only shows information for the memory cache and offline cache (which is 0, since I have it turned off).

I added a "Cache" folder to my profile and it hasn't made a difference.

No, I did not direct my disk cache folder to another location on my hard drive.

No, I am not in private browsing mode unless there is some way to get into it without my knowing. With Menu Editor I removed the Private Browsing options from my menus a long time ago, since I never use it. It's also not checked in Options - Advanced - Privacy.

Yes, I have checked all the cache-related about:config settings. Everything is as it should be for disk cache to be activated and assigned a certain size.

How can I get this working again? Is there is a folder missing can I manually add it to my profile, and if so, what is the path?

This is for information purposes. I installed Acrobat plug in today 10.1.3 and I get a blank tab when trying to open a pdf document in Firefox 11.0. This plug in works in Safari. I disabled the plug in in Firefox and installed the extension PDF viewer 0.2.537 form Mozilla and documents open fine. Just wanted to let someone know1.3

My home page is the Firefox default page with the Google searchbar. I like getting occasional messages from Firefox when I log in so I don't want to change my homepage. However, when I use the searchbar on my homepage only, I get the unsatisfactory AVG Secure Search results.

UPDATE: I now realize all the troubleshooting information I included in my original question appears under the "More System Details" link next to the question, not in the body of the question. I have copied it here to make it easier to see what I have already done to try to solve the problem, as well as describe the one clue I have that may be relevant:

I have tried all the fixes on various threads, but my about:config is now pristine (no avg or isearch mentions; keyword.url is default). Closest solution is that at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/866327 , which requires changing my home page.

Oddly, AVG Secure Search is not a problem when I use the Google toolbar or search from the Google website, only when I use the search bar that appears on my home (start) page. This is true even when I return to my home page--if I search from the Google search bar in the middle of the page, I get sent to AVG Safe Search. (isearch.avg.com).

I read in one thread a suggestion to delete my chromeappsstore.sqlite file in my Profile folder. As promised, Firefox created a new one when I restarted it; however, the search bar in the middle of my home home page did not work at all. Tried this three times before restoring my original.

I do not have an application that will open a sqlite file, but I tried doing so in Excel and found a cell containing the following:

I have no clue what that means, but it is the only thing I can find related to Firefox that still mentions AVG and isearch.avg.com.

At this point my best guess (but it is a guess) is that the chromeappsstore.sqlite file is a key to the complete solution, but I do not have enough knowledge to go beyond and address it. I appreciate any help you anyone can offer.

Before I begin, I would like to say that I have the current version of Adobe Flash, and that all other websites that require flash work just fine (YouTube, Facebook, A few other video sites, Pandora, etc)

Whenever I try to play something on the myspace video player, it displays a message something along the lines of "Flash is unavailable for playback. Your Flash version is: 11.2.202 To proceed, try the following:Refreshing the Page, Restarting your Browser, Upgrading your Flash Player"

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash (both the software and the plugin), and Firefox with no avail. Right now, I have to use IE to play anything off of myspace and it pisses me off, simply because I hate IE (I don't use Chrome, and who doesn't hate IE?)

i have a landing page with a web form script, www.wholewoman.com/newpages/landing/helpforcystocele.html. the script does not show up in firefox. further, none of our videos (served from kaltura (CDN) show up in firefox. nor does the registration script for our drupal forum. the good news is there are a lot of firefox users in the world. the bad news is that none of them can opt into my list, watch my videos or register for my forum. help!

Windows users keep getting prompted about java version being insecure and are advised to disable the plugin. They then complain that java based websites no longer work. Can I disable / prevent this warning feature. And can I re-enable java plugin via command line or script? I need to do this on a large scale and various versions of firefox. Right now I will need to abandon firefox if I cannot easily resolve this. Yes I realize updating to latest version of java is a solution... but this will take too much time now and how long before another security fix for java and then I will have to update yet again.

Hi FireFox support, We are developing a web application with javascript, we use firefox as our default browser for our users.

Now we met a problem when we use window.open in our application.

In our application, we need to open new page in a new browser tab, we used code : window.open('http://ourUrl.com', '_blank');

The action of the browser is different according when this line of code is executed.

situation1: user clicked a button, the click event will trigger our js function, in this function, execute this line of code directly, then the browser may open the page in a new browser tab. (this is what we wanted.)

situation2: user clicked a button, we firstly submit the data on page to our server, and in the callback function, we execute this line of code, it may pop an independent new window without tool bar.(this is not what we wanted).

I don't understand why the action of browser is different, can you help to explain? Thanks.

I have Firefox 11 installed and working perfectly.

I have installed Firefox 13a2 (Aurora) and used 2 methods to create a new profile for this Aurora version. In all cases, the "parent.lock" file in the new profile folder will not delete itself when Firefox 13a2 is closed using the Firefox > Exit method.

Using the Windows "Run" box (Windows XP) with the command "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox - Aurora\firefox.exe" -PM, I created a new profile in a separate folder from the Firefox 11 profile, and opened Firefox 13a2 with that new profile. No extensions have been added, no default files changed, just the already installed/working Plugins (same as Firefox 11). When closing Firefox 13a2 with Firefox > Exit the parent.lock file does not delete itself and therefore when I try to reopen Firefox 13a2, I get the message that it is already running.

Using Profile Manager v1.0 from https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Profile_Manager , I set up a new profile and the same thing occurs.

I have already checked the Read Only status for both the top level profile folder (under [user]\Documents and Settings) and the profile folder (compared to settings for Firefox 11 profile) and the user permissions (General, Sharing & Security) for the folders (compared to Firefox 11 profile).

I have removed the new profiles and created new profiles several times using both methods. I have also examined the profile.ini file and see nothing irregular there.

Advanced user. Have already reviewed the help files dealing with this matter as well as posts here and at Mozillazine for similar issues.

The application tab under Tools -> Options does not register swf.In addition, Downloaded files only recognize IE for a suitable playing platform.

I am running Firefox 11, but this issue happens since other versions. I also have A LOT (more than 100) tabs opened across multiple tabs groups. Sometimes firefox freezes, and I get the "waiting" mouse sign from my Windows 7 64bits...its useless to try anything..the whole computer becomes unresponsive, and eventually it crashes.....if I hit the restart button, or if the computer crashes, the computer restarts and says after the initial boot image that no operating system was found in the drive selected....so I have to turn the computer off...and then on again to make it work properly....then I can open Firefox back and everything is normal, (fortunately i dont lost my tabs) and there is no indication that firefox had ever crashed...I can continue with my previus work, and if its going to crash again or not is just a matter of luck....

Firefox used to keep me logged into the Hotmail.com email site (https://login.live.com), but now it always logs me off when I quit Firefox. I have clicked "Keep me logged in" on this page. I have set Security panel > checked Remember passwords for sites, and there is nothing in my Exceptions list. In Preferences > Privacy I have set Remember History so I accept all cookies. I am not using Private Browsing. There are two live.com cookies showing in my Firefox cookies list. But, when I look at Security > Saved passwords nothing that looks like a Live.com, Hotmail.com or MSN site is listed is there.

I can stay logged in after quitting and restarting the browser for another account I have in Hotmail using Safari 5.1.5.

Any suggestions as to how I can stay logged in to Hotmail with Firefox 11.0?

I picked up a Yahoo Search functionality inside Firefox but there was no Yahoo toolbar. I ran Revo Uninstaller and there was no listing for Yahoo. I ran Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel but there was no listing for Yahoo. However, in my Programs File under My Computer there is a folder titled Yahoo.

Whenever I opened Firefox I would get a Yahoo Search page instead of Google. I did a bunch of searches for solutions and found that I needed to delete all of the search listings in the drop down list from clicking the gray arrow in the search box.

They were all in there – Google, Yahoo, Bing, Twitter, and an odd entry called “Search Here” I deleted everything except Google. Then I went to about:config and reset the Keyword URL to the Google entry it was supposed to be.

I thought everything was fine but all of this left me with some strange Search Here window next to the Firefox Tabs and the same Search Here entry in the drop down list previously changed.

If I perform a search from the search window next to the open tabs I get a Yahoo Search result:

If I perform a search from Google I get a Google result as I should.

Interestingly, the Search Here listing appears again automatically in the listing of search engines.

It is supposed to put the response in via innerHTML. It doesn't. Now IE8 works fine in this case.

The PEAR modules have in them the check for 'Gecko' to cover the bug found in earlier versions of FF.

Am using Firefox Version 11.0 and Flash Version 11.1. Get the following pop-up when accessing email.

Your browser is blocking Flash. You must have Flash 9.0 or higher installed and unblocked to run an openmail application. You can download and install the latest Flash Player

Doesn't appear to be a newer version of Flash available, so I'm not sure what I need to do to get rid of the pop-up.

I read from many creditable sources that Firefox 13 or so will have its own built in speed dial much like Chrome or Opera so here are some questions and suggestions I have. 1 Will the built in speed dial for Firefox have the option to select how many columns/rows (AKA windows) and groups I want. 2 It should at least allow someone to have 14 windows and up to 10 groups. 3 Also will there be an option to import my Speed Dial extension by Josep del Rio settings since this is a very popular/common extension.

I never set up a tab group but somehow I have one with three tabs in it and I have gone to the group and clicked on the X in the top right corner but it continues to open every tab in the group every time I open a browser. I don't want ANY of these opened, I don't even want a tab group, how do I delete this group thing and how do I make it stop opening these web pages?
