Firefox uses too much memory, sometimes 20GB on a 32GB Windows machine. It's usually one or two threads which are hogging incredible amounts of memory. This time I had about 30 tabs open.

Today I tried Firefox about:memory "Minimize Memory Usage" several times, and it was largely ineffective.

I did a "create memory dump file" of one 5+GB bloated thread using task manager, but can't find a way to upload the compressed archive with this report for analysis. Finding a way to report this issue was quite a challenge. It seems most help avenues are now missing/moved, and other reports of this type of issue are "Archived".

I tried killing the 2 bloated Firefox threads and checked for tabs which might be missing or malfunctioning. Everything continued to run normally while more than 10GB of memory was returned to system use. Leaving these bloated threads overnight doesn't improve anything, in fact I can often get up and find my machine is completely out of memory because Firefox consumed it all. My smallest machines have 16GB RAM.

These memory issues aren't new. I've been reporting them off and on for more than a decade. They get better for a few months after reporting, then they get bad again in a few more months. The battle to get memory leaks fixed is continuous while Firefox springs more leaks.

I'd like to give you the memory image I generated so you'll at least have some real data to look at and analyze for this report.

The attached task manager snapshot image is a very minor example of this issue. The numbers keep increasing like there are one or more large memory leaks.

I did a 'refresh' of my browser, thinking that basic user information would be saved. But I lost all my tabs in OneTab (extension). Is it possible to recover them?

I'm trying to configure my router and the instructions tell me to go to https://192.168.1.1. But the security settings will not allow me to get to that (local network) IP address, and ther.is no option to bypass the warning

Why is this so difficult? I keep getting the attachment. How do I stop it? I NEVER WANT FIREFOX TO TELL ME THERE IS AN UPDATE. I will check and update when I'm ready. How do I stop this?

In the recent update to Mozilla, all of my shortcuts disappeared. I had many, and can`t remember them all. Is there any way to restore my shortcuts from what they were a month ago? If not, I will switch to Edge.

I am trying to have a biometric authorization with touch ID on Mac, and it says on the website that the option should pop up when i go to the password settings, but it doesn't, and I don't know how to do it otherwise, or if I should use an extension for example. I'm seeking help because sound is not working on Firefox. All other software are able to produce sound on every speaker and headphones I have. The speaker logo does not appear in tabs were videos or music is playing and firefox doesn't show up in EarTrumpet. It does show in the volume mixer but no bar appears to show it is displaying sound while media is playing.

I'm running : Firefox version 119.0 64 bits Windows 10 64 bits version 22h2, OS build 19045.3570

I've tried :

1. Restarting Firefox
2. Muting/Unmuting Firefox in the volume mixer, in firefox tabs too
3. Downgrading to version 118.02 32 bits
4. Uninstalling all my audio drivers followed by a restart (they got re installed but no change for Firefox)
5. Restarting Firefox with all addons disabled

I'm running out of solutions.

In the last 2 weeks (that I know of), Mercari will not appear when I go to it. I just get a blank page. I've restarted the computer, I've turned off the Ublock and Ghostery but nothing. Everything else works fine. I am not very computer adept, by the way. I sell things on Mercari, so I kind of need to access it. I'm not even sure I picked the right topic (website breakages)....sorry if I got it wrong.

Archived 2020 query at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1360922#answer-1465978 asked for time-stamped history list. Instructions in the response say after CMD(on Mac)/Shift/H you will see names of columns above the list. This does not appear - possibly deleted since the answer.

I'm trying to argue with a bank that I made a payment in business hours, and a time stamp on my history record would bolster my argument.

Is the list of columns mentioned available somehow? Can a date/time stamp be added to every history record? (Date is known, but not shown as a date stamp.) Is this info in there, but hidden, and available somehow?

Hello all. I'd like to restore the backspace button function but the previously workable solution — resetting browser. backspace_action to 0 — is not working for me. Any hints as to why that might be the case?
