I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my e-mail manager. I have AOL and Yahoo mail accounts that I manage via Thunderbird. The new security requirements from Yahoo and AOL require me to remove my e-mail accounts from Thunderbird and add them back into Thunderbird. After I add the accounts to Thunderbird, the system then has me login to the Yahoo mail account. I am getting an error message that says my browser (in my case, Firefox) is not allowing cookies. I have changed all of the Privacy and Security settings that should allow cookies (according to Mozilla Help) and am still unsuccessful. I am at a loss on what I am supposed to do to allow cookies.

I have a similar. but not identical issue email link issue; since last two Firefox updates, clicking on email links evoke the error message: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." and prompts me to close Firefox or quit. How do I fix this?

I use Thunderbird. I checked and Thunderbird is designated in my mailto action.

Today I clicked on the same email, clicked on the same link, and it opened in FireFox.

When I first got the email and it would not open in FireFox I right clicked on the link, clicked on "Copy Link Location" and pasted it to open the link.

Can you tell me what is going on?

This is not the first time this has occurred.

64 bit Windows 10 Home addition, Thunderbird - Ver. 52.5.2 (x86 en-US) updated 01/05/18, Firefox v- Ver. 57.0 (x64 en-US) -system shows Firefox last updated 11/15/17. My PC has been wanting me to update Firefox, but I was telling it to remind me later for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I shut my PC down. 5 days later I turn my PC on, waited for it to boot, then started Thunderbird which automatically downloaded my last 5 days worth of emails from the server. My PC then froze. Eventually I powered down my PC and turned it back on. After it rebooted it asked me to sign in to Firefox to sync my devices. (I am assuming that it Firefox updated without my approval but it still shows the last update as 11/15/17.) After it completed the sync I opened Thunderbird again and found the last 5 days of emails were not in my inbox and Thunderbird will not download them again. It is downloading new emails when i receive them but not the ones it downloaded just before the freeze. Thunderbird is set to leave messages on server for at most 15 days and until I delete them. My question is how do I get Thunderbird to download the last 5 days worth of emails again without affecting all my other emails and without duplicating emails that were previously downloaded?

I can sign into Outlook via Firefox. Thunderbird regularly downloads messages from there. When I try to send, I get a Server Not Found error or sometimes Unable to find server. I have deleted the outgoing server and reinstalled it. I have checked all the settings and have never found an error. This is a new problem (a few months old), and it previously worked well. I am running Ubuntu 12. Accounts at Yahoo and gmail work well. I am using Thunderbird 12.5. I have also added another entry for this server but it does not work either.

Hello Everyone:

I have asked a similar question in the Thunderbird area.

My bootup is normal and I can open Thunderbird and Firefox (Ubuntu 16.04) All the tool bar navigation links on Firefox an frozen until I do the logoff/logon procedure. This is after a fresh, clean install. The same problem existed before the install.

Thunderbird will download all emails, but I cannot access any email until I logoff and logon the desktop. Thanks for any help.

My employer's default browser is Internet Explorer, and her default email client is Thunderbird. Up until four weeks ago the "send link by email" in I.E. worked fine. It now starts Thunderbird, but does not launch the WRITE dialog box, nor does it pass the URL to Thunderbird.

Firefox on her computer, using the "Send via email" menu option correctly launches Thunderbird's WRITE dialog box and correctly passes the URL to the new message.

One query for this problem is found here:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1157553

The suggested fixes do not work. MAPI appears to be functioning fine on the computer: Firefox (not the default browser on her computer) links to Thunderbird (is the default email client) fine, but Internet Explorer (which is the default browser) is not working properly. I have already done the suggested "fixes" that tens of thousands of people have suggested--- changing default software.

I use Firefox as my default browser and Thunderbird for my e-mail. I received an e-mail with 3 links in it. The 1st link opens in Firefox but when I attempt to open the next link I get a message "Firefox is already running, but not responding. The old Firefox must be closed to open a new window." I changed my default browser to Microsoft Edge and the 3 links opened into 3 separate windows. I have tried adding a profile and uninstalling FF and reinstalling (getting a new profile). Same problem. I am able to open multiple links/tabs on FF but not via Thunderbird e-mail. I am running Win 10.

The Firefox crash was a "not responding" error when all I had done was try to switch tabs. I could not get out of the program using Taskbar or Alt Tab and CtrlAltDel got nowhere so having given it time I just had to press the power switch. Since then most programs seem to be working as before but both Firefox and Thunderbird are running slow and without title bars. I can't find how to get them back. I hope you can help

When I click a web link from a email message (Thunderbird) or any other web link, , I get a wait circle from Win 7 for about 10 seconds but the page never loads in Firefox, but a firefox.exe process starts up. I can do this 10 times and the tab never loads the web page but I will get 10 Firefox process running. If I exit Firefox, all those 10 processes remain running and I need to stop them all before I can start up FIrefox again. I did startup Firefox in Safe mode and without my virus program running - no change. Extremely frustrating.

control++, control+-, and control+0 all work as expected, but if I'm not quick enough to let go of the control key, or if I just press the control key all alone, the web page I'm on (including graphics) or the email body I'm looking at in Thunderbird just get larger and larger. The problem seems to be limited to Mozilla as the other browsers, Word, etc. don't exhibit this behavior.

I have no idea what combination of keystrokes caused this! I have rebooted.

When Thunderbird and Firefox automatically install updates, there are always previous versions remaining under 'Programs and Features' in the Windows control panel. Since my HD only has little free space left, I'd like to ask whether it's save to uninstall these remainders?

Furthermore I realised that at least Thunderbird exists in two independent installations on my PC When I set up the PC, I installed all my programs in a path called C:\_P_Programme. Here the most current installation (V: 45.1.0) exists in C:\_P_Programme\E-Mail\Thunderbird. In the Windows standard path (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird), there is another installation (V: 38.0.5), which can be started independently from the other one.

I installed Thunderbird and Firefox only once and afterwards only relied on the automatic update, so I don't have an explanation for this.

I use Windows 8.1 Pro.

Thank you for your reply.

For an extended period of time, I've had problems with both Firefox and Thunderbird not responding, hanging up and crashing. I've tried safe mode, eliminating add ons (extensions) and refreshing both. My overall idea is Windows 10 x64 is causing these issues. It's just an idea and I have no idea on how I would prove that if it is the case. I've extended the time for scripts to finish whatever they do. Every time, without fail, I try to do anything at all, FF will give me the "Spinning Blue Circle" that say's it's lost. Any mouse click on ANY link, object, video or task causes FF to lose it's mind.

I have also had issues with Win10 either wiping out user accounts, changing user profiles in FF and TB or just plain discounting any setting I make to FF. This doesn't seem to last forever. However when an upgrade/update comes in for FF, it starts happening again. Also, it seems to occur when ever there is an upgrade'/update to Windows. The problem with FF got so bad I had to download and install the Profile Manager that lets me tell Windows which user profile for FF I wanted because it would set there and ignore me.

I don't believe I'm all that far off the mark when I say it might be Win10. The reason is, none of this ever happened with any Mozilla product under any other version of Windows I've used. My very first use of Windows started with Windows 3.1 when I first quit using Apple and built my first PC.

Now that Windows does all the spying on it's users for the Feds, privacy is a major issue with me. I've got thru all the setting that permitted spying and denied Windows the ability to use them. I won't even entertain the use of Edge or Cortana.

Any ideas from anyone will be appreciated.

Thanx in advance for any discussion.
