A lot of webGL apps are very low framerate (and lie about their framecounts), for example: https://webglsamples.org/blob/blob.html This runs smoothly at 60 fps in chromium, but in firefox it behaves badly. The fps counter flickers as either 53 or 80, but in reality it is maybe 15fps or lower and very stuttery. The resolution, number of blobs, or size of the window does not change anything.

  • If I enter Troubleshooting Mode, it all returns to working order. The FPS is fixed

I have tried disabling ALL extensions, changing to the default theme, disabling hardware acceleration, deleting cache+cookies+history

I installed firefox developer edition and checked it there, and it was at 60 fps, until I logged into Sync, when it then dropped.

I use KDE manjaro linux and have hardware that is definitely good enough to run the content at high framerates normally (everything works perfect in chromium)

I am running RHEL 7 and KDE4 with Firefox Nightly.

Firefox will not use KDE/Qt dialog boxes or system applications. For example: when showing the downloaded file list (Ctrl + Shift + y) and clicking the folder icon to show the file's location, firefox will freeze for several seconds before opening a window in Nautilus.

I have found discussions of this problem that span seemingly a decade without a simple step-by-step guide or an updated solution. Answers range from: editing =mimeinfo.cache= file for the =inode.directory= line, editing items in =defaults.list= file; setting the =GTK_USE_PORTAL=1= variable (somewhere) and then changing various =about:config= settings.

It's just confusing and exhausting tracking this down. Is it possible to get firefox to play nicely with KDE? Nothing that I have tried so far seems to have worked, but I'm honestly not sure where this setting would live, or magic bash incantation I need to run.

I know this seems minor, but having just switched back over to firefox to chrome, it seems very jarring seeing the GTK dialogs that do not play nicely with the rest of my desktop/workflow (i.e., I do not want to start a Gnome vs KDE flamewar, but rather: I'm used to dolphin and how it works and make heavy use of the embedded terminal within dolphin windows or drag&drop files into the Qt open dialog box which "drops" as a file path ... I have no idea what happens if I drag something into the GTK open dialog box)

Hello.

I got a little problem with firefox starting with somewhat broken window layout on my Ubuntu 20.04 desktop with KDE desktop environment. Tried to google for it unsuccessfully, so here I am. Whenever I start firefox after cold boot or a full reboot, it runs like on a screenshot. The workaround for fixing that is to resize window and then make it maximized again. I am not quite sure, is it a problem of browser, video driver, or desktop environment, but it occurs for me only on firefox.

  • Appeared several versions ago, present on current version I use: 89.0.2 (64-bit)
  • Does not appear when i load windows 10 on this PC.
  • Video card: Nvidia 1660S driver ver.460

Does anyone heard of that problem? Would be glad to know any details to address this problem.
