I cannot find any way to disable, hide, or remove the Recently Bookmarked list from the bookmark section. These make this window unusable other than the bookmarks that are listed there. I have no use for Recently Bookmarked items to be listed anywhere. I have attempted all of "solutions" that pop up about fixing this issue, but none actually work.

There is no "Hide Recently Bookmarked" when you right click anything on that menu or others involving bookmarks. Similarly, there is no setting regarding it when you search in about:config as is claimed most of the time. Adding a bunch of meaningless bookmarks & deleting them, also does not clear the list as it seems to remember all the bookmarks.

I've found people complaining about this as far back as 49, and as recently as 66 and 78.

Does FF have any role in logging me out of a website due to some time limit? I complained to a site that I lost a lot of typing because it had silently logged me out. I was told by one of their CS people "The issue is actually with your browser. Browsers have a security feature that automatically logs you out of secure areas if you are not moving around, which unfortunately excludes typing. The idea is if you were logged into your online bank account and left your computer, someone else could not sit down 5 minutes later and start doing things in your account. This feature is for any secured area, any area you have to login to access. It is not something we do or can prevent. I am very sorry for the inconvenience."

IMHO this is BS, but please tell me if FF could have terminated my session somehow. Thanks. GD

I would like to search the bugzilla database for known issues.

While there is a builtin search tool, that does not work: if I search for a string and limit the search to one specific bug where I know it contains the string, then that bug is reported. Doing the same search over all bugs, it (takes long and then) reports that no bug at all contains the string - not even the one where I know it contains the string.

So this search tool is proven defective and cannot be used. What alternatives are there?

Hi there, I'd like to make a feature request. One of the things that I love about Google Chrome is the ability to run single window apps. This is the only feature keeping me from moving to Firefox at this point. I'd like to request that this be added as a feature in Firefox. The command could be something like:

firefox --app=https://mail.provider.com

This would spawn a single app window that does not have tabs to navigate to other apps.

Thanks!

Hey Mozilla, I just tried a little bit with wireshark and found these safebrowsing.googleapis.com calls. I was quite a bit shocked. Got everything done to get away from google services, build my complete online infrastructure upon mozillas suites, mailadresses on relay, and generally FOSS Apps and Software.

I have some questions: - for what specific reason firefox is making the calls? - which data will be transmitted? - how can I block this "feature" entirely in Firefox?

Any answers from the developing team would be highly appreciated!

-- ...and lbnl my opinion: Firefox is/was the Alternative to google to me. So the reason I am using it, is to fight against google and the capitalism conquoring the internet. My thinking is therefore quite a bit black and white. I'm really considering to use another browser because of this hidden google Calls. I mean, even if its only to update the blacklists of URLs, there is absolutely no need to make this Calls in idle state, while the user isn't doing anything. And now I'm thinking what you guys are might calling for hosts in other apps? I mean this is shit. To advertise against occupying the internet in the fight for taking back control, and then you collaborate with the enemy. Maybe I'm completely wrong, but this feels more disturbing than anything else these days.

And if you share my IP on a regular basis with a google host, could YOU be sure, that these requests will not be registered and merged with other meta about myself? When Firefox is sending my IP to this google-Host, right before I was checking a page wich is using recaptchas, it could might be an very easy task to match this both IPs and further combine it with the rest of my metadata. Logically there is no reason for google to separate "the collection of data" and assumingly they are already using this massive amount of IP-Connectiondata in some way.

B.

PS: here you have the answer to the question, if this service is cross-product: "Safe Browsing protections work across Google products and power safer browsing experiences across the Internet." - the Head says: "Keeping over four Billion Devices safer. *shiver*

Hi Guys,

I've just moved house and got a new internet provider, so this could be many things.
When I go to the amazon home page everything is fine, images are shown.
When I do a search within amazon and get the search results, no thumb images are shown.
I've cleared the cache and history, quit and restarted firefox and also restarted my mac, but nothing so far has fixed this.
Being that I've just moved house and gone with a new internet provider may not help as the speeds can be slow for a couple of weeks.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Dizzwold.

I am testing FF91esr for deployment later this year. Having a lot of grief with it.

For context; On most of our PCs the profile folder is NOT in the %APPDATA% folder. It lives on a different drive, typically drive F:\

This allows us a lot of freedom to restore a users C:\ drive without messing up the Firefox profile, or losing recent information, for example. We do the same for Thunderbird and several other applications.

The profile.ini file does live in its default location and points to the relavant folder path=F:\Users\<username>\profiles\<profilename> IsRelative=0

We backup a users PC with a comprehensive script which copies the profile.ini and Profiles folder. The group policy is also backed up, and in that policy we have set to use legacy profiles.

When we build a new PC for a user we restore those backups in the hope that the user will take up where they left off. For example, their browser history will be at the point is was when they left the PC.

The whole process is pretty automated. However, with FF91esr I cannot get it to use the folder we backed up. It ignores what's in the profiles.ini file and creates a new profile in the default location, set's it as default and of course sets IsRelative=1.

I tried several combinations of things to try to stop this, but in the end the ONLY way I could get it to use the restored profile was to go to about:profiles, create a new profile, point it to the folder where the restored profile is located, restart using the new browser, then via about:profiles, delete the bogus profile (of course having set the restored profile as default).

I'm not going to sit at 250 PCs doing that. It's crazy.

How can I get FF to use the restored profile folder and stop it endlessly creating new profile folders?

So far I've only tested with clean installs of FF91esr, so this is not an issue with different versions of profiles. But I am concerned over what's going to happen when I update Firefox on a PC...

Well this was a *shocking* disappointment.

After 18 months without broadband I tried to update my Linux Mint system.

Including Firefox which I've used forever.

And when I launch Firefox the first time I find it is almost unrecognizable and my previous configuration has been completely obliterated: no preferences, no add-ons, no extensions, my history is gone and all of my several thousand bookmarks; the screen looks like a bad parody of Chrome (another toy I avoid). I see a fleeting and unintelligible message having something to do with Sync, about which I could care less and have no use for. But, drowning, I grasp at any faint hope... except I can't get into their marvelous Sync service. One of your myriad, useless help pages refers to some circly link icon which is nowhere on my screen. So I stumble around trying to find a way into this sign-up and wind up in a perfect catch-22 -- the login requires an email address for an account I don't have and so rejects it because I don't have the account for which I'm trying to sign up . I finally found my way in through these forums but still don't know what I've signed up for and if it's any help.

So they have me completely buggered. Are they really going to make me start all over again?
