Good morning, I have a problem with disappearing bookmarks, but I can organise the backup of the places.sqlite, but I assume that won´t be enough to recover, therefore my question is, which files would be needed or is the one mentioned sufficient?

Hi, so on my office pc I work with firefox. I made an account specifically to store every bookmarks etc on that account so when my company updates something I'll always have my bookmarks. Unfortunately somehow since yesterday they all disapeared, and no I'm unable to recover them with the different methods that are foreseen on your website. please advise kr daniel

With the update to 115.10.0esr my bookmarks that were on the left hand side of the screen are gone. When I look at bookmarks there are a few, but I had multiple folders for different subjects, I do not find. I would like to have the procedure to return my bookmarks back to the left hand side of the screen with all of my bookmarks, bookmark folders, and other bookmarks like it was prior to the update. Is it possible to import bookmarks for a different Mozilla account. Apparently I have 2 different Mozilla accounts. I had been using (I'll call it account #1) for quite a while, and recently subscribed to Mozilla VPN service. When I subscribed i gave it login info for "Account #2". How can I keep the logon info for the VPN, and get my bookmarks imported from the old (routinely used account #1) ? Or, can I change the VPN service to the old account (account #1)? I know how to add another device to the VPN account, but the "accounts" are on the same "device".

This morning, I was unable to log into Discord to watch a livestream because my hard drive was overfull and it was unable to install a mandatory update. Because this was a time sensitive issue, I wiped a bunch of crap off my drive as fast as I could, and I guess somehow I deleted my browser bookmarks because the field now shows as empty when I open Firefox. I was able to track down the backup file, but it throws an error when I tell it to restore. Is there anything I can do about this?

I get the following message when going online with Firefox: "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem." I've followed all the prompts to restart the computer, refresh the computer, delete the favicons.sqlite and places.sqlite and it won't allow me to delete them. This happened yesterday as well. Yesterday I could delete those files and everything was restored. But today I can't get it to work.

i am setting up a new laptop and trying to import all my current data from my old pc. Nothing is right. It imported alll the shortcuts on my toolbar from years ago. None of these are the current bookmarks from my old pc. ive tried syncing, importing again, nothing works. my bookmarks on my side bar are years old. I dont have ANY of these on my old pc as i deleted them years ago. what the heck is happening and how do i get my new pc browser to look exactly as my old pc looks. This is very frustrating. I have over 500 bookmarks on my sidebar. it looks like every bookmark i have EVER used. This is ridiculous.

I Cannot restore 3/1 or 2/29 Bookmarks!!! What's going on with Firefox??? Now, all there is in my Bookmarks are five listings saying, " BS2trash folder for undo of bookmark deletes- DO NOT REMOVE ..."

I wouldn't have to do this except that somehow, a Bookmark folder disappeared. All too often is has occurred. I have many, many very important Bookmarks. How can I get them back---and soon?

Using YouTube for example...

Previously, when I bookmarked a page/video (URL), if the newly bookmarked page (URL) had previously been visited, the bookmark would be displayed in the Sidebar (or Toolbar) with a typical "YouTube Play Button" icon (favicon). But, if the newly bookmarked page (URL) has never been visited, then the bookmark would be displayed in the Sidebar (or Toolbar) with a default "Globe" icon (favicon).

I almost always create bookmarks by dragging links/URLs from the browser client area to a folder in the bookmarks list in the sidebar (and sometimes/rarely, to a folder on the Bookmarks Toolbar). But the same happens if I manually create a new bookmark to a "Visited" or "Un-visited" page.

Recently, this behavior just changed "without notice"...

Now, when I drag a link/URL from a the "Recommended videos column" on the right side of a YouTube page/video, to the bookmarks list in the sidebar, the bookmark is ALWAYS displayed in the Sidebar (or Toolbar) with a typical "YouTube Play Button" icon (favicon), regardless of whether the page had previously been visited, or not. Also, existing bookmarks for un-visited pages that were previously created, and were previously displayed in the Sidebar (or Toolbar) with a default "Globe" icon (favicon), are now displayed in the Sidebar (or Toolbar) with a typical "YouTube Play Button" icon (favicon).

How can I bring back the previous behavior of displaying bookmarks of un-visited pages/URLs in the Sidebar (or Toolbar) with a default "Globe" icon (favicon)?

I would like my Mozilla Firefox bookmarks to stay on the left side and my bookmark toolbar on the right side (just like it used to be). Now both Bookmark toolbar and Mozilla Firefox bookmarks are on the left side , and I can't even search a Mozilla Firefox bookmark using the search window.

Hi. I'm trying to transfer Firefox bookmarks from a hard drive pulled from a now dead iMac (was IOS 10.13.4 + Firefox 116.6.0) to a MacBookPro laptop running BigSur (11.6.8) and Firefox 122.0.1. I have the iMac HDD plugged into a hot swap docking station. A search for places.sqlite on the old HD turns up nothing.

I have found answers for drilling down into Windows to find the appropriate files to transfer, but not for Mac. I didn't know Firefox Sync existed until now, and I don't know where to look for a profile on the hard drive. Suggestions?

Ok, this is going to be a bigger problem that I thought. The laptop is my wife's old university-owned mac, and there's a whole "admin" layer of hidden and mixed-up folders. I need to go see the admins for help.

I recently upgraded from Window 7 to windows 10. Ever since, the spacing between the bookmarks has significantly increased. I read several post about this and they all seem to be looking for something in Firefox. I think it has to do with something in windows 10, not Firefox. Any ideas? I've already done the Density/Compact thing. Slight improvement, but not anything like it was under Window 7.
