More of a rant than a question. Making a Mozilla account for Sync is not worth it for the average user who likes to use this feature as a solution to writing down every password or saving sites as bookmarks. Without recovery keys if you must reset your password because you forgot, because it is unwise to write down passwords as well as use the same password for everything(for security reasons), Mozilla will wipe your data, for "security reasons". But, you can still see all of your past logins to Mozilla's services. Why isn't this data wiped? It is a poor excuse to say that sync wasn't designed to be used as a back up, which is ridiculous. I have no reason to keep an account with Mozilla and neither does anyone else who expects to use this to store or save internet data. Auto fill is useless if this data is unrecoverable. Making Firefox even less useful. Even though posts going back years state that it is moving in the direction of being a back up. I guess it is super secure when even you can't remember your passwords and rely on a service such as Mozilla's Sync. These are things they don't tell you nor is the info easily found unless you have an issue and need to search for it. Then you find it when it's useless. Do better Mozilla. Been using FF for decades never used sync until this month Worked 1 time. Did 2 re-installs of Win on same PC got locked out of my Mozilla acct. Didn't think something as trivial as a PW reset would wipe my data. User beware! Extremely annoyed. Hope this is searchable as this answered multiple questions about Sync. It is pointless for Mozilla to have your data that you cannot recover.

I had to reinstall windows and it wipe Firefox.i didn't know my password so I resetted it. Problem is it wiped all my data. Didn't know changing passwords for forefox would so this. Anyway I can get them back?

Hello there.A couple of days ago my windows pc session creashed.After rebooting i attempted to log on but everything was different.All my bookmarks were disappeared and all my saved pages were not appearing.There was a yellow triangle appearing on the right side of the program mentioning the i was disconnected from my account..I attempted to use my account i used the correct credentials but it Never send me the pin code in order to reauthorize and re access my account. My ios mozilla sessions is operating fine so far and this is the one posting right now! Im looking forward for your reply in order to gain access again on my pc.Thank you!

I have 3 computers (2 desktops, 1 laptop). I want to permanently delete approx 300 unused/unneeded passwords. I deleted them from computer #1, then logged out of Firefox. The new count was 346 passwords.

I went to the second computer, deleted approx the same number from computer #2. The new count was 324 passwords I returned to computer # 1 and logged back into Firefox.

Within a short time, computer #1 is at 759 passwords, and computer 2 is at 691 passwords.

How do I get the deletions to be permanent? It's the second pass at doing this and I'm FRUSTRATED.

I did an hardreset to my computer yesterday, today I logged in to my FireFox account and now all of my stuff (History, Passwords, Bookmarks) are from 2020. I don't have any backup, what do I do?

Many questions and answers I see regarding the sync function. I would like to know the depth of what Firefox does. I have multiple PC's and an Android. What is the depth of sync for extensions? Is it possible to have mirror images of the entire Firefox setup duplicated? It would be spectacular to move from one PC to the other and find that Firefox has the exact same setup.

Hi, I did a clean install from win10 to win11, then installed firefox and logged in to my account but it havent synced anything? All my saved passwords and bookmarks are gone!?

Can someone please help me get them back! Does anyone have a solution for this?

Read something about that a backup is saved on your computer? Isnt saved to a cloud? Thats what a thought! I have done a clean install on a new drive, old drive i already wiped aswell! Doesnt have a windows.old dir or anything.

Please tell me everything isnt lost!

I've been using Firefox home content shortcuts usefully on my Windows system. I installed Ubuntu on Vmware last night and synced Firefox account in it. After that, the home content shortcuts are all changed to the default status. I think it's because that I clicked the sync now button on Ubuntu. Is there a way to roll it back? Thanks.

Hello! I synced my browsing data yesterday by signing in to firefox account and reset my OS(window 10) to improve my laptop's speed. When I am trying to get back my browsing data back after resetting and installing firefox by signing in to my firefox account and pressing the Sync Now button then its not giving me my browsing data back. I tried to login to firefox sync on a different system due to repair. My entire data is gone and all passwords are also gone. What to do.

I even tried login with username and password apart from google sync. It still didn't worked.

Currently, I use Firefox version: 116.0.2 on Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS.

I encountered a phenomenon like this:

• When I logged in to the application, in the tab I was working on, the Firefox session memory was lost (don't open new tabs)

What is the cause of this phenomenon? How can I fix it?

I had to reinstall windows 10, and then Firefox on my computer, after logging into Firefox on this fresh install (had to reset password), my saved passwords and bookmarks are not there. They still exist on my phone, and my phone is now asking for the new password to start syncing again. If I log in on my phone, will it sync the passwords there to my computer? I am worried syncing will cause the ones on my phone to disappear. Is there any way to export my passwords/bookmarks on the phone(android) to file? As a backup just in case. I logged in on an old computer thinking it would sync, even if it was out of date, but now it also shows 0 passwords saved.
