Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I am getting messages that I am blocking ads for many of my internet requests. I had never received these before but all of a sudden I started to get them. I have tried a number of things but nothing works.

I am running Windows 11 and do not have any Ad blockers.

I recently received an update for the latest version of your browser and installed it. However, all of my bookmarks appear to be missing. I have an HTML backup of my bookmarks stored on a USB drive, but when I attempt to import it into the updated browser, I receive a message stating that the file is not recognized as a bookmark file and cannot be uploaded. This is unusual, as I am able to import the same HTML file on other computers and browsers without any issues.

I also tried using the “Sync” function to restore my bookmarks, but this did not work either.

Could you please advise on how I can resolve this issue?

Recent (Windows?) update signed me out of Firefox. Logged in again, but bookmarks aren't showing up. Bookmarks are marked for sync-ing, and I did try sync-ing twice. Maybe I have to sign back in on the original device?

I have private browsing disabled on Firefox but there is a way to still use it via Ctrl +H , right click an item and there is dropdown of "open in private window" and it works. However I have no other way to open private windows since I blocked it. Also when I Ctrl+T in the private browser, it says this is disabled.

Therefore this option in Ctrl+H right click menu should not be there and I don't recall seeing it before. Maybe a bug with a recent Firefox update.

Does anyone know what has happened or how to remove this option?

Suddenly none of my cashback extensions will activate, I click them but they are still inactive when I check. I have tried disabling ad-blocking and resetting everything all-time as far as history, ache, etc. Has there been some recent change that I can make adjustments for? I would rather not use Chrome.

I have a problem using the left click on my mouse to enter a square in either sudoku or a crossword when logged in to Readly within Firefox in Windows 11. I have tried with other browsers and they work fine. I have also tried other sites using Firefox and they work fine. I have also tried on my Ipad using Readly and Firefox and that works no problem. I seems it is a problem when only in Windows 11, Firefox and Readly. Any ideas?

I've been using the expanding side bar feature for my tabs, and a few times now it has gotten stuck closed (won't expand at all on hover) or open (blocking the settings bar which expands behind it, and there seems to be only one way to resolve it - closing out of the whole window and re-opening). This is frustrating and not great for productivity as I need to toggle between tabs frequently for my work.

Months ago all bookmarks just disappeared. I tried to restore many of the backups but only was informed "Unable to process the backup file." each time. Tried again today with same result.

When this first occurred I obtained an article with the steps to solve this problem and did them in order. Reinstall didn't work nor the above. Nothing seemed to work. Note that no new bookmarks then and now can be created.

So I have been trying out a new browser which did import Firefox bookmarks - therefore are readable - which placed them on the favorite menu without prompting. These are listed as Firefox Bookmarks. But this is not where new bookmarks are saved. Thus the same topics are in two places. So I attempted to import the Firefox bookmarks manually. It worked but now every folder is on the favorite menu instead of being merged with the new ones created. Of course this is absurd so were deleted.

I don't particularly like the new browser and actually would prefer to get Firefox straightened out.

I don't recall much about the events when this happened but it did not seem just after an update - possibly a week after? I have four extensions: AdBlocker for Youtube, ClearYRLs, DuckDudckGo, and Norton Safe search.

Your wisdom and experience would be appreciated.

My bookmarks are not showing up. Firefox shows a message that some Firefox files are being used by another program, or something like that. I have refreshed Firefox numerous times, and the same thing happens each time I try to use Firefox now. This has been happening for over a month. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox multiple times.

Is there a way to hide bookmark names? I have several bookmarks that I keep in the bookmarks toolbar, and I can keep more links there only if I were able to hide bookmark names. I know what the link icon goes to, I just want the space without having to reduce the names of the bookmarks to a few letters. It would be even better if the name I set the bookmark to would appear when the mouse hovers over the link icon.

Every 5-10minints I get white screen for 2 to 30sec when I use the firefox browser.
