I'm using Firefox 126.0.1 (64-bit) in Windows 11. I needed to download two files named index.html (in different source directories) from my company's content management system. Both got downloaded as index.htm. They were the right files... only the extension was changed.

I spoke to the person who maintains the content management system. They tested it and said it's not doing that, must be the browser.

That sounds fantastic to me, but I looked through the support messages here and found several about files whose extensions were changed on download; for example from .loa to .mp3. No explanations or workarounds, though.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Hello! A year or two ago I ran into a problem. While Firefox is checking for an update, it does not load any sites. I have to wait about 5 minutes each time before I can start using the browser. It is incredibly annoying. Has anyone encountered this kind of problem?

I would just like to know why it crashes immediately every time i try to run it, my network isn't blocking it and i still cant run it even after turning off anti virus protection

I have been reading the NYTimes on Firefox for a long time, but it appears that I got logged out without knowing it. I could not log back in even though I used the correct email address and changed my password twice. I can log in on other browsers using my latest password. I called the Times and the person with whom I spoke, after trying to get me logged in, finally said that this is a known problem with Firefox. He did not have any idea about the cause or what I could do; he simply told me to use another browser. I use Firefox for almost everything and this is, to say the least, an inconvenience--for instance, if the Times sends me a link to an article by Thunderbird (which is my email program), I can't read the article but have to find it on another browser. Are you aware of this problem? Do you have any suggestions for how I might log in despite it? Do you know the cause of the problem and whether Mozilla is trying to fix it?

I've hit a crazy problem:

I open firefox and browse to a website. Close Firefox and then reopen and attempt any website and it just hangs. Close the browser and look at task manager and it's still listed - end task open again still no connection to anything. Have tried the Read Only thing in %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ after a restart of the PC and it stays Read-Only even when I change it. Have tried a new profile which just moves the same behaviour to a new profile ie create a new profile open the browser go to any website, close the browser and reopen and get nothing. I have repaired, uninstalled, reinstalled and I just can't get it to work unless I restart the PC everytime i want to go to a webpage! Anticipate switching to Google Chrome soon if I can't find a solution which is a shame as I have been a Mozy fan for years. Any suggestions?

Until a few days ago, my Firefox would save all the tabs from the previous session. But now it does not, and I still have all the necessary settings enabled. I noticed that it will save the previous session IF I use the Firefox "EXIT" from the "File" menu. However if I use close the session using the upper right hand corner Windows close box (where the "X"), it does NOT save the tabs from the session. I also notice that when I close the Firefox window using the Windows close box, that Firefox (several) show still running under the Windows Task manager, but not when I use the "File:Exit". Running the current FIrefox version 127.0 (64-bit) under Windows 11.

For some time now, when I download a .pptx, .xlsx og .docx Firefox changes the file format to .pdf when downloading the file. I then have to manually choose the correct app for opening the file, overrule error messages and delete the ".pdf" when re-saving the file even though it recognises it is not really a pdf file.

I've tried to change the Firefox settings, clearing cache, restarting or deleting in config and other small attempts to reboot whatever suddenly started to cause this problem. As far as I can see, it is not an unknown issue, but I've not yet been able to find a solution to my problem, which is getting on my nerves.

I have used Firefox to access my Zoom accoutnfor several years. Today, the screen goes blank when I click on sign-in. This does not happen with other browsers on my PC. Help....

I have had some issues using Firefox and I was told that the website works better with Google Chrome by a support person. For the last recent issue, I was told a website doesn't work correctly basically with Firefox and that I needed to use Google Chrome or Edge. I recently received an email from Mozilla which had a link to an article titled, "Here’s what we’re working on in Firefox" at: link text and in the article in large print it says, "Bringing you the features you’ve been asking for." I didn't see any mention about increasing Firefox's compatibility with websites.

Hopefully, somehow comparability with websites will be made better.

Im using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Intel cpu I7 9th gen NVIDIA gpu but i disabled it My problem is that the Picture in Picture mode isnt sticky if i press anything it vanishes from view.

hello tried a few things from help docs on line. nothing working. just keeps happening. tabs will say gah. your tab just crashed. works for a bit but once happens.... have to close whole firefox and open again. just started happening yesterday. I have used firefox for many many years never a problem. Something was not updated right. Please tell me how to fix this once and for all. if not I have to leave using firefox this is driving me crazy. terrible. Hi, the site "https://pixabay.com/" is suddently extremely slow with mozilla. The pictures don't showup or take many minutes before you can see them. Normally only white boxes show. The same site (pixabay) with the browser "Opera" works perfectly. I always use mozilla and since a short while it just doesn't work with pixabay (a site for royalty-free images). In seeking a way to reduce the CPU & RAM usage, I read that perhaps turning on the Hardware Acceleration might help. And to do that, you must first de-select the default setting which says FF will use the best settings for my computer. Well, when I opened that section, neither one was checked! So, should I first try the default setting, and if that doesn't help, then try HA? I'd always heard not to use HA, for some reason, but I'm ready for trying anything that might help use less resources, and open webpages more consistently.

Which is the best setting to use, or neither one?

I visted a web site once and left after trying to watch a some movies without any success. Now my firefox are sending notification to my deasktop from this website. But the site is no longer opened in my browser. I tried to to run the antivirus but nothing was found. I checked for any extension and nothing as well. The notification are coming from the firefox itself and I dont know why. And I dont know how to stop it.

YouTube has been so slow in Firefox. It just takes a ton of time for the video to actually play. It's just a spinning circle in a video. I can refresh several times and then it plays. I cleared my cache, history, data...etc everything from Firefox. That seemed to help for a bit. Then it just resulted back to being slow. It's just in Firefox. I played videos in Edge. It was fine. No issues. It's just FireFox. It started most recently too. It wasn't happening a week ago. I even tried going back to an old version of Firefox. Didn't help. Anyone know how to fix? Not using ad blockers either FYI. I just want videos to play normally and fast.

This problem started yesterday. Whenever I try to connect to a website, I'm met with an error saying "Secure Connection Failed", each time with a different error code. Dropout.tv gives me PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR, Netflix gives me SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG, DuckDuckGo gives SSL_ERROR_RX_UNEXPECTED_APPLICATION_DATA. This doesn't happen with any website owned by Google, such as YouTube, Google Docs, etc. I don’t know if there are any others that it manages to connect to, but those are the observations I've made. What can I do?

In Firefox, after a reboot, how can I re-open my previous sessions?

Originally I had quite a lot of open browsers & tabs. Then I needed to do a reboot, and now I've lost those previous sessions.

Usually I just open Firefox, and this opens one browser, and then all of my previous browser, and tabs reopen, but this time Firefox crashed, and its popup said it needed to restart, but it would re-open my previous browser and tabs, but it didn't.

After following the usual Firefox help guides, it still wouldn't re-open my previous sessions. Now if I ask it to open my previous sessions, it just opens the recent help guides, and not anything before the crash.

So is there a backup file of my missing sessions that I can roll back to?
