Hello all, I am trying to build an application which retrieves url of active tab from Firefox browser (I am testing Firefox version 64). I have been reading and investigating how to do it but I cannot find any reliable way. Could someone help and tell me how to achieve this please? Currently I want my application to work in MacOS platform, however if I can find cross-platform way, that would be awesome! Thank you very much in advance

I realize this API is relatively new; however, some coding examples would really be helpful: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_Authentication_API

For example, step 2 states, "Browser Calls authenticatorMakeCredential() on Authenticator". How does the browser know what the authenticator is? Specifically, how do you set up an authenticator on a mobile device that will be accessed by a bluetooth call? Is this part of the spec supported yet?

Does the developer have to code the bluetooth call to the authenticator?

There seems to be lots of general concepts with no specific steps or coding examples. Please help!

I needed to count how many times "03/11" occurred. I hit Edit->Find and entered 03/11, then hit ENTER or PF3 repeatedly to count them up. When there weren't as many as I expected, I copied the text of the page into a text file to do my count there. Turns out it was skipping about 2/3 of the matches! The first few matches in the text I copied are:

5752SC102       7C0     03/11/2019
5752SC1C4       7CJ     03/11/2019
5752SCLOG       7CJ     03/11/2019
5752SC1CH       7C0     03/11/2019
5695SCPX4       7C0     03/11/2019
5752SYBLD       7CJ     03/11/2019
5752SCDIV       7CJ     03/11/2019
566528503       7CJ     03/11/2019
5752BB1CT       7CJ     03/11/2019
5752SC1C6       7C0     03/11/2019

Firefox's Find skips from SC102 to SC1CH, then SCPX4, then BB1CT, etc. At the bottom, it wraps back around to SC102, so it's really skipping the others, not just finding them out of order.

I am trying to make a CORS get request to my server. My server is properly CORS enabled.

I am sending an additional header so preflighted option call is sent by browser.

This is working in Chrome but not in firefox. In firefox i can see the options call with 200 as return status code but the subsequent get call is not sent which is happening perfectly in Chrome. My server is also using certificate issued by Global CA like DigiCert . This CA is present in Firefox trust list.

In firefox i see these messages in console

Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://serverurl. (Reason: CORS header ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ does not match ‘https://tryit.w3schools.com, *’).[Learn More]

Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://serverurl. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed).[Learn More] I am making XMLHttpRequest call to trigger the call.

I am not able to figure why the call is failing in firefox

I am running Selenium automated tests in Firefox. The problem is that, when running tests on Firefox, the browser is open in "Browser is under remote control" mode and then the session cookies are not kept when the browser is closed.

If I authenticate on my web app out of this "Browser is under remote control" mode, the ai_session cookie is kept as expected. It only is discarded when I am on that mode.

Taking that into account:

1. Is there a way to configure Firefox to keep session cookies even when running in the "Remote control" mode? 2. When configuring Selenium WebDriver, is there some option that allows me to force the browser to keep the session cookies?

I initially post about my problem here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1253871

I artificially inflated my requests to match the count I noticed issues at and did not experience the same behavior, but when attempting to archive around 300MB transferred, it fails to export instead returning a download for a 9byte file containing the string 'undefined' rather than the JSON formatted output.

I was on a previous build when I first encountered the issue and upgraded to 60.3.0esr (32-bit) and it doesn't seem to be specific to one build.

Hello Firefox support, where can i find a documentation about the "timeout" settings in the about:config? Thanks a lot. Michael Hardwiger from Werth Messtechnik

Details: We use a NGINX Server to provide HLS HTML5 Video over https. The videos runs great with Firefox. But after 20-30 minutes the video stop and we have to reload the page. I suppose with the timeout settings in the about:config i can solve this problem. But there are many timeout settings. Which settings are important for my task? Is there a documentation?

Thanks a lot Michael Hardwiger

I use different instance of FF with different profiles as front ends for specific php applications. Sometimes when I launch a new instance via the backend script of a GUI app I've created, even though the command line arguments for the firefox binary specify the url, the instance sometimes fails to open the url and stays at the default home page. I'd like to avoid having to set the target url in the preferences for the FF profile and instead load it from the command line, as I set the url in a config file for my GUI app and don't want to have it set in multiple places.

Obviously I can get the PID of the instance, but then how would I use that (or the firefox binary) to tell that instance to open a specific URL?

Code from the script that launches FF: (included variable are defined previously)

   browserlaunchcmd="$browserdir/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -P $browserprofile -no-remote \"http://$webdomain/\""
   ...
   eval "$browserlaunchcmd"

   	"chrome_url_overrides": {

`index.html` is a normal HTML page that references an `index.js` which contains code something like this:

   window.onload = () => {document.getElementById("search").focus()}

However, when I open a new page, it focuses the address bar at the top instead of my element. Is there an approach I could take to this that would let me focus that element? Directly opening the file verifies that the focus() works.

Firefox is my favourite browser, but it has some problems. Although the team managed to fix memory leak issues with BigInt in js, but the performance is 3x slower than NodeJS compared to the latest spidermonkey (75.0b6).

To test out, I have created a simple pi calculator (open source), the website is: http://picalc.rf.gd/

The source code can be found on github, or just by clicking the "View Page Source". It seems impossible to get past 4,000 digits of Pi in firefox but in chromium I can calculate about 10,000 digits in the time firefox does 4,000 digits.

Previously, in the earlier versions (73 I guess), the memory went all the way up to 4 gigabytes while trying to calculate 5,000 digits, it's now (my current firefox version is 75.0b4, developer edition).

For the benchmarks, I have also tried NodeJS and Firefox's Spidermonkey.
