Every time I launch Firefox, the browser home page says I am not using the latest version, update now. I just updated with that horrid Yahoo toolbar. I want to get rid of that but I cannot get rid of it without getting rid of Firefox. Do I have to go back to using Internet Explorer?

OS is Windows Vista with all updates. Using Adobe Reader X version 10.1.9. Checking for updates from within the Adobe Reader program generates a message from Adobe that the software up to date, no updates available. Firefox advises Adobe Plugin version 10.1.9 is vulnerable and to update the plugin. Attempting to update from within Firefox connects with the Adobe update site. Attempting to update from within the update site brings up a message from Adobe that the latest software is installed. Please advise.

Have many performance problems with latest versions of Firefox. I remove fFrefox and reinstall 18.0 and everything is fine until Firefox automatically updates to 28.x. I remove check in box when asked if want Firefox Maintenance installed, but downloads updates anyway and next time I bring-up then problems are back!!! I have to start over again and never X Firefox. I just want the basic Firefox - simple, FAST and WORKS !!! Never liked IE - but may have to go back to it. I cannot uninstall Windows Media Player from add-ons.My problem is when I click any Mp3's download button then it open instead of save the file.So, I need to uninstall Windows Media Player.

After upgrading Firefox to version 28, I´m not able to start firefox again. A reinstallation of Firefox is not a solution. I have Win7 x32 SP1 with the latest Windows Updates.

Will Firefox ever become a trim resource-light application again? I had the same problem as 985530, having loved Firefox in the past on my favorite old laptop (pentium m, 2 GB) but hating it recently as it became slower and slower. On a fresh XP install and update, with latest Firefox and no addons except the latest flash plugin, content-heavy websites took several minutes to come up. Facebook was the worst. I tried turning off Firefox telemetry and prefetch, which helped a little. Finally got satisfactory performance by installing addblock-plus as recommended by Gary and Andrew at https://www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=564607316896327. Now this performs as well as my 3-year-old 4-core.

And by the way I'm making this reply as a new question only because it seems the only way to register short of joining your "get-involved" which is too much of a commitment. This is the first time in 10 years that I wanted to reply to an existing question and I will be dead before I do it again.

After the Firefox home page comes up at start up, immediately an unencrypted site with a search engine. The site is from Crome. It has multiple icons for various sites with I did not click on. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it and it still comes up. Is it coming from the sync folder in My Documents.

Now that version 28 left beta, and waiting almost 2 years for a stable release, I was looking forward to finally be able to use Firefox in Metro interface. However, I can't find the option to relaunch in Windows 8 touch mode in the Firefox menu that I had seen when I briefly tried the beta. Neither the icon on the start screen looks like other Modern UI apps, but is the default Dekstop icon on a tile. I had uninstalled the beta once I was done looking at it a while back and now updated my stable release, but can't find it. What have I done wrong?

I continually get pop ups using the firefox browser with Windows 8. I have tried everything to get rid of it!! I cleared the exceptions for the block pop ups and the add-ons options in firefox>options. Its with any website, and is usually triggered by a click of my mouse. Its always at the bottom of my screen and sometimes it will open up in a new tab, even when i dont click it. PLEASE HELP MEEEE, this is my work laptop!

How can a delete from the download queue (or wherever it is) a file that continues to download every time I open Firefox?

I've previously rebooted in safe mode, and reinstalled Firefox.

I have Firefox 28 and all plug-ins are up to date. Also tried in Firefox safe mode but still crashed. 2 consistent sites that crash are DisneyMovieRewards.com and Cineplexstore.com although others will also crash. Crashes very frequently to the point I've started using IE sometimes. Research of the crash report suggested it was related to Trusteer Rapport. When I shut this security service down, Firefox has not crashed since. This is bank security software. Although it's been installed on my system for many months, the crashes only started about 2-3 weeks ago. Only changes I'm aware of are the updates to Firefox, not TR. TR log suggests 'something' was trying to take a screen capture of 'sensitive info'. Only sensitive info on those page sites are the user id's and passwords which I have saved in FF, accessible only by entering vault password. Some incompatibility between TR and the new FF vault password feature?

I have downloaded videos from youtube and want to store them on a memory stick to make more RAM available on computer.Where as Explorer lets me do this with ease I have not been successful with Firefox.How do I move these videos which are in a folder in Bookmarks to a portable storage device?

Firefox at 369,616 K FlashPlayerPlugin at 1,550,628 K and 51% CPU. Firefox extremely sluggish. This has been happening for about 6 months with very new release of Flash and Firefox. Makes Firefox unusable. Fix this or people will start to move to google chrome or IE

I have configured Firefox 28 with a Master Password. When I go to a page that triggers the request for me to enter the master password, Firefox will crash. This happens even when I am running in "Safe Mode", and is repeatable. It didn't happen with the previous version of Firefox (the most recent version before 28), which I just upgraded from.

If I remove the Master Password, then I can access the web page without problems (and even access the saved userid and passwords for it).
