I restarted my computer today and downloaded a new version of Firefox. When I started it up again everything was gone... all Tabs, history, and bookmarks. This is a sad loss as I have been organizing my life with Firefox for over 10 years. Is there any going back and getting my firefox restored?

i saw this response by Cor-el for another user with a similar situation

If you still have the signons.sqlite that was used in a previous Firefox version then you can try to restore passwords saved in that file.

Firefox 32 and later builds store the passwords in the logins.json file in the profile folder and no longer use the signons.sqlite file that has been used before (the matching key3.db file is still needed). If you still have the signons.sqlite file used in previous Firefox versions then you can try to force Firefox to migrate the passwords saved in that file (you will lose passwords saved in Firefox 32+ versions). You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file and rebuild the logins.json file with these steps:

reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the about:config page to the default value via the right-click context menu
delete the logins.json file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed

When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true and you should have the passwords imported in the Password Manager unless there may have been errors.

When visiting some smaller and less known websites on my computer it shows the error message "connection has timed out" but on my laptop it loads just fine. Both run firefox and are sync'd with the same configuration and extensions. I already tried the troubleshoot mode and also checked the firewall. Is there anything else I can try to fix this?

Hi, yesterday I got a new computer and I installed the Firefox on it, but when I started the browser for the first time, it was a mistake (I pushed the button by accident), so I immediately closed it. It was asking something about allowing the use of coolkies, but I didn't answer to that and simply closed the window.

The thing is that since then my firefox don't load properly. The buttons and the autocomplete are normally responding, but all pages (including the settings) are blank and sometimes it won't start at all and I have to close it with taskmanager to make it open next time (but still blank).

Does anyone have the idea what's going on?

Thank you.

On certain websites I notices I have 'unknown errors' when trying to log in.

Usually this is remedied by either using Chrome or clearing cookies and the cache.

Both of there are inconvenient and result in a great deal of wasted time.

The usual response by these websites is "get Mozilla to fix this".

I'm getting sick of this.

I don't want to switch to Chrome but I will have to if this persists.

After updating to Beta 122.0b3 (64-bit), the active tab is now highlighted with a simple white outline instead of the coloring surrounding the address bar. My selected theme has not changed, and the same goes for all of my extensions. I could not find this change in the 122.0b Release Notes.

If this behavior is intentional, is there any option to return to the previous behavior (including in about:config)?

Continuous 'Mozilla Crash Reports' from Firefox

I have a home-built media center (OS: Linux Mint 20.3) utilizing Firefox as the primary browser. This system has run almost flawlessly for many years. Updated to 20.3 in early 2022. Rather suddenly (yesterday) Firefox began repeatedly crashing, displaying 'Mozilla Crash Reports' (example attached). Firefox appears to initiate as expected. However, on display (e.g., Youtube, Facebook, web page, etc.) request, Firefox immediately throws a 'Mozilla Crash Report'. I do not recall any changes to the system that might have generated this condition, and have spend most of today unsuccessfully troubleshooting.

MB: Gigabyte F2A85XM-D3H CPU: AMD A-10 5800K APU with Radeon HD Graphics OS: Kernel: 5.4.0.170 generic x86_64bits; on 128MB SSD Firefox for Linux Mint mint-001 - 1.0 (122.0 (64 bit)) RAM: 7 GB

I have attempted to follow some of the moz://a Support pages (i.e., "Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems"). I have noted that while in 'Troubleshooting mode', Firefox appears to behave as expected, seeming to implicate extensions, themes and/or hardware acceleration. However, under normal Firefox operation enabling/disabling these does not seem to resolve the issue.

    * Hardware acceleration (on or off) still results in display of 'Mozilla Crash Report',
    * Default theme is selected, and
    * I don't appear to have any unaccounted extensions or other addons enabled.

Any thoughts and/or additional guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Many, many months ago I did mundane search and opened a webpage in a new tab, as per normal. Nothing particularly stood out about this search and when I was done, I closed the tab. I didn't do anything different. I didn't save a bookmark or change any settings. I just looked at the webpage and then closed it when I was done. (It was a web article on some random tech site, if that matters)

Anyway, now whenever I open up my Firefox browser there seems to be a random chance that this previously closed tab will open on loading. And when I say random chance, I'd say about 1 in 5 chance. It doesn't always happen.

Just to be clear: I do have the browser set to restore my previous sessions. This is a setting I want to have on. However, this tab was not part of my previous session as I specifically closed it - and continue to close it every time it opens itself. Also, my Homepage is set to default and nothing else.

Not only that, but there are two very peculiar details about this case that make it very, very strange: 1. When I originally opened (and closed) this tab, I was using normal Firefox. I have since switched to Firefox Nightly. All of my other tabs that I like to keep open had to be searched and loaded up manually, one by one, after I did the switch. This one tab, however, is just showing up on its own. 2. Opening Firefox on a separate devices (second desktop PC, laptop, android phone) will occasionally load up this tab.

I do have my browsers set to sync, which is what I'm assuming is why it's following me around. But I don't understand why nor how to stop this specific page from loading after I keep closing it time and time again. Plus, why aren't any of my old tabs from my old Firefox browser following this same behavior after moving to Nightly? - I've closed hundreds, if not thousands of tabs. Why is this one following me around?
