Since version 149, the search box in the address-bar has a different behavior and layout. There may be cases, when this behaviour is better, but I don't get it. In my use-case, I have got to do several more clicks to select the correct search engine with every search.

How to get the old style & behaviour back:

enter: about:config in the address-bar. confirm security question. search the entry: browser.search.widget.new and set it to 'false'

Would be great to have a checkbox in the settings and the option if you want your familiar solution changed. (add this at the bottom of the new select search-engine dropdown.)

I wish to search fs paint numbers but keep getting this message cannot accsess gb.search.yahoo.com.

We can’t connect to the server at gb.search.yahoo.com..

I used to be able to right click on the search drop down menu and open YouTube without typing anything. Now it requires a search. A minor inconvenience I know, but all the same.

I'm currently on Firefox Developer Edition version 136.0b6, and for some reason the search bar no longer displays the https:// header. Is it possible to turn this back on?

I have only two installed - Google and it's copy, with a modified search query so that there is no result from AI. But periodically I notice that something has installed some other search engines. Yesterday I got a search engine that plants trees and today Amazon. I delete them, but sometimes they (or some other) appear again. I can't imagine that it was me, who accidentally installed them in a hurry (when I need to quickly find something on Google).

Hello, I recently found Ecosia search to be force-installed in firefox, and after much digging I found this to be because of a new collab between them and mozilla. However, I HATE when things gets forced upon you, its the only reason I have stuck with firefox this long.

I cant seem to find a way to remove this search option from my providers list, please instruct me on how to do this, cause if I cant, I will unfortunately have to drop firefox as my browser.

I wanted to set keywords for search engines (in order to quickly change them for a single query). This cannot be done for search engines by default (why?), so I had to delete them and create a new one with the same link and my own keywords. But now I can't give them the same name back, firefox says that such a search engine already exists. In general, it doesn't matter to me which letter is there. The main purpose of my appeal is to draw attention to the fact that search engines cannot be edited by default, because it is quite inconvenient. Apologies for not being able to follow instructions. I went to settings/search/default search engine and selected the one I want in the dropdown. But I don't see how to save this change and now it defaults to Bing.

Hi, I wonder why the "m"-function isn't working anymore. For example, when I stream movies, I often use the “m” key to mute the sound. Recently, the search function has started appearing at the bottom as well. Is there a way to turn off this new function? If I want to search something I'd like to press buttons Shift + f as before. I have selected Duck Duck Go as my default search engine in the settings for Firefox. But when I open my Firefox browser it shows the MS Bing homepage and NO drop down box for other search engines. How can I fix this? This is an initial installation of Firefox on a new Acer Aspire computer running Windows 11.

When I use the search engine it will not open and says "Hmm we're having trouble finding that site". My Bookmarks all work and open fine but i cannot search anything?
