Prior to getting some desktop PC upgrades that required a new install of Windows 11 and a new install of Firefox, I backed up my entire PC (yea!).

Now that I have re-installed Firefox, I see that I have none of my saved bookmarks and so I want to restore the Firefox profile - all of it or at least the bookmarks.

I have tried following the Firefox instructions for this, but am apparently not doing it right.

I can't seem to locate the bookmarks file, for starters, in my backed up files. I find the profile but I don't find anything like places.sqlite.

Can someone help me so that I am locating the right (and complete) files, copying them correctly, and then switching to the new/old profile correctly?

This issue is so annoying, that I need to ask Firefox community what I can do. So, the problem is, that if I set custom home page called Infinity New Tab (Pro), then I will restart Firefox, then it reverts back to Firefox Home.

I think, that this is completely unrelated to malware, because I'm scanning my computer very often.

Are my preferences/settings corrupted?

However the Infinity New Tab (Pro) is no longer available in addons.mozilla.org, so if you need .xpi file, then tell me, and I will attach that file here.

Firefox is downloading files directly to my Downloads folder instead of asking despite having turned on every setting that says it should ask first. Under about:preferences I have turned on "Always ask you where to save files" under Downloads, and I have set Applications to "Ask whether to open or save files". I have even gone in to about:config and turned off "browser.download.useDownloadDir", but the files are still going directly to my default folder.

Is there a shortcut to deattach tabs from one browser window so it turns into seperate window, so that you don't need to deattach tabs with clicking and dragging them with mouse?

I'd like to be able to prevent a specific address from appearing in the Firefox address bar (as a suggestion) when I start to type in the address bar. I tried deleting the cookies associated with a particular address, but the address still appears as a suggestion in the address bar when I start typing its name. Thanks a lot for any help.

Here is a sample URL that works on Microsoft Edge (current version) and receives an error message on Firefox (115.0.2): https://www.t-mobile.com/home-internet The error received from the web site when using FF is:

Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

FF was working with all T-Mobile pages a few months ago and now fails with this same error on most pages.

To test on Edge, I pasted the identical address that failed in FF into Edge and it worked fine so I am confident I am comparing the same web page on the two browsers.

Is it possible to permanently set a different search engine for private browsing? I have Google set as my search engine in my normal browsing mode, but I'd like the private browser search engine to be permanently set to DuckDuckGo.

(I realise I can manually set it each time to DuckDuckGo but this is tedious.)

I am receiving the message Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue ... requires a secure connection ... when trying to access my Shopify website AngelFallsHomes.com. This ONLY happens with Firefox; all other browsers are working fine. What do I do to fix this because obviously it is a huge concern.

I have spent all evening using the Console to debug a project I have been working on. All of a sudden it now displays event information for every click, every keypress (up and down events separately), every selection, everything. This now happens on (almost) any site I visit. This is so absurdly verbose anything I am hoping to debug is buried under mountains of extraneous information about my inputs.

Is this is a setting that can be disabled somewhere, that I enabled without realising somehow? I have spent some considerable amount of time poking around trying to find some setting, but to no avail. It was certainly not behaving this way before, is it possible to change this back?

When enabling the PiP player window for say a YouTube video from the YouTube website - pressing the 'pause' button on the PiP player window followed by doing any forms of multitasking like opening another window, or opening another program/app or file etc, and then a few seconds later pressing the 'play' button on the PiP player window - it doesn't actually play the video.

You can click the 'play' button over and over and over again but the video in the PiP player window will not play. In order to get the video to play again you have to exit the PiP player window by clicking 'back to tab' and then clicking the 'PiP' icon again.

Using Firefox version 115.0.2

Anyone else experiencing this?

I used to be able to simply click and drag to reorder bookmarks but this no longer works (Firefox 115.02). Is there a new way to do this or, if a bug, when will it be fixed?

I'm having trouble importing data I had on my account into the browser I'm currently installing on a new HP laptop. I logged in, but I can't see any of the bookmarks. I tried reopening the browser, hitting the sync button, reinstalling... Sync was working perfectly fine before, it was also transferring my config and extensions, maybe it has something to do with HP, as it automatically installed HP Wolf Security Extension. Would there be a way to restore all the settings I had before, taking in consideration that I logged out from previous laptop and I don't have access to it anymore, thinking it was all synced on the cloud?

The solution for the original Disable F11 (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1255696) is no longer working. When the solution is executed from the Browser Console...

The return is a reference to "HTLMDocument chrome://browser/content/browser.xhtml" which can be opened up and displays more information.

It used to just come back with something like "Undefined." and then it worked (F11 was disabled for the browser instance). Looks like it just started to not work with this latest version of 115.0 64-bit as this solution has been working for over a couple of years now.

Is there a way to enable this to work in the latest version?

I download a file. It stops and speaks of a security risk. The website is https, but the file is http. Is there a location I can pre-approve all files from the url to override the objection? Thanks.

How do I remove the scam pop-up that won't let me access firefox on my iphone? The pop-up says "your apple iphone is severely damaged." I can't open a new tab or delete the current tab.

I cannot log into New York Times via Firefox - ms says it thinks my IP is a bot. Also blocked on a local newspaper Montreal Gazette. I am able to log in w/ no prob on Opera - please advise? thanks!

I recently started experiencing errors for logging into third-party websites that use Google sign-in.

On one site (coches.net), I have the sign-in popup loop for like 3 times and then disappear but leaves me unlogged.

On the other site (etoro.com), the sign-in popup shows but then I get an error message from the site about the login. Then it won't let me reconnect since CloudFlare won't accept my "I'm not a robot" prompt and keeps reloading the same page.

This started happening yesterday. I'm not aware of any Firefox or Anti-Virus updates that have happened since, measures not existing yesterday.

I can sign-in correctly from Chrome with no issues.
