I've created an HTML page while trying out a JavaScript library and am loading both the page and its data source (a JSON file) from local files for now, using file:/// URIs. A week or two ago, when I first tried this, I encountered a "CORS request not http" error, as described here, when trying to load the JSON file. In my about:config, I set the privacy.file_unique_origin preference to false, after which I was able to load the JSON file successfully.

A couple of days ago, though, I started to see the "CORS request not http" error again, and I have seen it every time I have loaded the page since then, despite confirming that privacy.file_unique_origin was still set to false. I've tried several things to try to get that preference to take effect again: resetting privacy.file_unique_origin to true, setting it back to false, and restarting Firefox; reinstalling Firefox; and refreshing Firefox.

Screenshots of the error message and the privacy.file_unique_origin preference are attached. I'd appreciate any suggestions of what I should try to get the JSON file:/// resource to load successfully again. Thank you.

I develop for an intranet application at work. It is based on ASP.NET Webforms. The production servers have IIS 7 with persistent authentication disabled (Persist-Auth: false), which means that the browser should re-authenticate on every request. For a POST request (full PostBack) with a large enough body, Firefox does not resend the request body anymore as of Firefox 76 (worked with previous versions). I have verified this in Fiddler. Other browsers do not have this issue. This breaks the website because the ViewState is not being sent.

Expected compliant behavior (Chrome does it like this):

  1. Browser sends the request (without authorization header)
  2. Server responds with 401
  3. Browser resends the same complete request, with authorization header
  4. Server responds with 200 + content

Incorrect behaviour in Firefox 76:

  1. Browser sends the request (without authorization header)
  2. Server responds with 401
  3. Browser resends the request with an empty body, with authorization header
  4. Server waits for the body but does not receive it, and the request gets cancelled after 2 minutes. Eventually, the browser displays a 401 Not Authorized error, but with Fiddler running I can see a 408 error with the text: "The request body did not contain the specified number of bytes. Got 0, expected xxx."

Just for fun, this is the non-compliant behavior in IE11 that actually works, unlike Firefox:

  1. Browser sends the request with the authorization header from the previous GET request
  2. Server responds with 200 + content

I built a web application using WebRTC technology.

My case is that I browse the web site on my android phone using Chrome version 83, and then I browse the web site on my pc using firefox version 77. And the server-side code is using node.js. It works fine.

When I switch the connection on my mobile from wifi to mobile network or from the mobile network to wifi, both browsers are handling the "onnegotiation" event infinity.

However, if I browse the web site on my pc using the Chrome browser, the problem does not exist.

I am using the perfect negotiation method to establish a connection.

I have tried to rebuild the connection in socket.on("reconnect"), it does not work.

How can I fix the problem?

And my source code can be downloaded from the following URL for reference:

Hello. I'm using a brand-new installation of Firefox 78.0.1 on a freshly installed copy of Windows 10 Pro. The only way I can get Firefox to display any notifications is by having alerts.useSystemBackend set to true. While this is set to false, notifications will not work. If I use this site to test them, it just says, 'queued for display', followed immediately by 'closed'. I've also tried creating a new profile and testing it again with no success. All sites were granted notification permissions in each case.

Thanks for any help.

As mentioned here https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Content-Security-Policy/frame-ancestors, CSP: frame-ancestors is supported from Firefox 33. However, it seems doesn't work.

I am trying to embed a 3-party site into our page using an iframe. The 3-party site did whitelist us using these headers - Content-Security-Policy: frame-ancestors 'self' https://*.ourdomain.com - X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN

It works fine on Chrome, but not Firefox. I am using Firefox 79.

Is there anything wrong with our headers?

Thank you!

Imagine that I'm on a website like example.com and I click a button. Looking at my browser's network tab, I can see that the page has sent a POST request to example.com with some data and received some data back from the server.

I want to be able to:

  • Edit the data before it is sent to the server.
  • Edit the response data before it is handled by the function.

I'm aware of Firefox's "edit and resend" feature, but I want to tamper with the very first request before it reaches the server.

I've been searching for this for hours but all of the answers appear to be outdated due to browser updates. What is the modern approach to doing this?

I am working on building up a virtual VM with VM Horizon. We are loading Firefox into an Appstack. I loaded our root certs in the apps stack as I was building the app, however when I load the appstack to the virtual the certs are not listed. I know this is from the fact that the certs are being loaded into the admin profile that I install. My question is how do I get the certs to load for all users that sign into the virtual environment? I am fine if it is loaded into the Core VM and not the appstack where Firefox is actually installed. Anything that I am seeing is for older versions of Firefox and not the current in a Windows 10 x64 environment.

Thank you!

Hello community, after updating my FF from 62.03 to 63.0, I experience a strange behaviour. I use the css properties "display:none" and "display:table-cell" to dynamically show and hide table columns. Prior to FF 63.0 everything worked excellent. But now, after hiding columns (by altering the css property form "display:table-cell" to "display:none"), the table and its content is displayed properly but some of the cells are missing their defined background colour. As soon as doing some action which forces a redraw of the window (e.g. resize the window or scroll the window), the complete table is diplayed properly . In order to give an impression feel free to have a look at the attached images Pre-Collapsed-Table.png, Collapsed-Table.png and Expected-Collapsed-Table.png. Meanwhile I have been playing with the "visibility" attribute in order to get the desired result. Unfortunately this is not suitable because hidden elements take up space on the page.

Is it a bug in FF 63.0? What can I do to get the previous and expected behaviour? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

We have an application that was integrated with several other legacy applications in the organization. We started upgrading our application to HTML 5 standards to make it work with all modern browsers such as Firefox, Chrome and Edge. Now the problem is that, our application has redirect links to 3 to 5 legacy applications that were coded for IE 7 and no where in the migration path. When the users click on these links while working on our application, Firefox opens a blank page, making them as blockers for our application uplift. 1) is there a way to force a link to open in IE while the parent page is launched using Firefox ? I have seen this link : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/43615678/force-a-link-in-i-e-to-open-in-firefox , but this is for the opposite requirement...open Firefox from IE. 2) how do you run applications requiring .cab files on Firefox ? if there is an answer for this, we don't need to worry about #1.

Thanks.
