Prior FF option to select "preview PDF in FF" is no longer offered (or visible). But my selecting "just" "Firefox" from the drop-down list of available PDF default viewers does not "stick"--the PDF viewer always remains "Edge"--even though FF is set as the general default browser. The same problem was occurring when Acrobat Reader DC was on the computer and it was the default for PDF's--so I entirely removed that app, but now I get (MS's built-in) Edge as the PDF default but not FF. Changing file associations, etc. just does not have any effect! I am using the current versions of FF and Windows 10 Pro.

I just want to open PDF files without having to click open with every time. I have tried the following: 1. "Open With"->"Choose another app"->"Always use this app to open .pdf files" 2. Control Panel, change default apps, change by file association 3. Control panel, manage default apps, Firefox, pdf set to Chrome when I'm trying to manage Firefox 4. Options->Applications->Preview in Firefox 5. Uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted my computer 3 times each.

I change the default helper application for "Portable Document Format (PDF)" files in Firefox to open using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. At some later point in time, it gets changed back to "Save File". This is very annoying. Any idea what the problem is and how to stop it from happening?

I've tried to open PDFs from a couple of different places/sites, but I can't from Firefox. I logged into Chrome, and I could download them quite easily. This just started today, June 2, 2019. I haven't changed any settings, and everything is up to date. My settings are to open in Adobe Acrobat. Thanks!

When I try to download a .pdf file from my site using http://www.andycraft-beads.co.uk/a5BeadArtBookletGood.pdf I get a file of 5,083,136 bytes which then correctly opens in e.g. Adobe Acrobat Reader. If I use https://www.andycraft-beads.co.uk/a5BeadArtBookletGood.pdf instead, I get a file of 46,153,728 bytes which is corrupt and un-openable. Both IE and Chrome open the file correctly from either source. Is this me?

Hi. When I click a link in Firefox in a webpage that opens a PDF, I get a barrage of new Firefox windows, one a second that keep opening until I close Firefox by force. I have my computer set to open PDFs by safari by default, and I have the appropriate setting in Firefox. I’ve even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. Any ideas?

Until a few days ago, I was able to open a shipping label on Ebay within Firefox, by pressing the OPEN button and a new tab would open with the label. I was then able to press a PRINT button and the label printed.

Now I purchase the label, the page changes as before and offers me a PRINT LABEL or SAVE LABEL, but when I press the PRINT LABEL button it goes into the save as mode. I tried the SAVE LABEL button and it does the same thing.

There were always the two options. PRINT or SAVE. Now both button just save the label.

Do I need to change some kind of setting? I've asked Ebay if they made any changes and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

If i click on a download link for PDF nothing happens. if i click right (mouse) and select "open in new tab" or i select "download as" it works. where do i have to look first?

Hi all, I have a little bit annoying problem which occurred in a couple of days. What is the problem: we have an internal web site where people upload some pdf files and other users work on them. One user has the following problem: when he opens a pdf from the web site using Mozilla it opens his Acrobat XI Standard. He modified the file the try to send it. Unfortunately it hanged. I've tried to change the option for pdf document to be opened with Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) but it didn't work. When I made a test on another workstation with 35.0.1 version and Acrobat XI Pro the default option is Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) but when you open the file there is no "send to mail" option only print or save. To be sure I've saved the file to the desktop, opened again with Acrobat XI Standard and send to mail option worked like a charm. That's why i decided to ask here for a help. If you have any idea please share with me. Thanks in advance

I have been having a problem with Firefox and AOL.com when it comes to attaching .pdf files. It seems to only affect .pdf files when using AOL.com. I get the following error message: "The message was not sent because of an error." It also doesn't allow me to save that particular message as a draft.

I can upload other file types, granted I haven't tried to upload every single type of file type, but I was successfully able to attach the following file types: .doc; .docx; .xls; .jpg; .txt.

If I try attaching a .pdf file with any of the other file types that it usually sends, I get the same error message and am not able to send the e-mail. I can send .pdf files from AOL.com when I use Internet Explorer with no problems. Additionally, I have no problems attaching and sending .pdf files using gmail in Firefox. I also noticed that the same thing happens when I try to send a .pdf attachment using Yahoo.com, but like with AOL.com, I am able to send other file types using Yahoo.com.

I tried starting Firefox in "Safe Mode" with the Add-ons disabled, but the problem was still there. This has been going on for a few months, with the various update versions of Firefox. I have tried this on my home and work wifi networks with the same results. I use the AOL account for work, so I don't use it all that often, which is why I thought that it was a temporary glitch, but I think that it is more than just a temporary glitch.

Also, I tried various PDF files of different sizes and from different locations, with long and short file names, but all had the same result. Interestingly, if I remove the .pdf extension from a PDF file, or change the .pdf extension to a .doc extension, it lets me send the files.

I did try this on another computer that is running Windows XP with the same version of Firefox and I was able to attach and send a PDF file using AOL.com. I don't know if it is a problem isolated to my computer, or if it is something with Windows 7, but I wanted to mention that as well.

I would appreciate any help/guidance in this situation. I can still send the files using Internet Explorer, so it's not the end of the world, but if anyone has any solutions, I would greatly appreciate it.

When I used to click on a PDF file, it would automatically open in my default PDF viewer. Now it askes me to save even though I have set in preferences that PDF should be opened automatically with my PDF viewer.

Now I have to wait for it download, then click on it again. I do not want these files saved permanently, they should save to the %temp% directory and be automatically opened in the default program. Please tell me what I need to do to get this working again.

A number of months ago, using a previous FF version, I noticed that I could no longer open or download Adobe PDF files. No error, no blank screen, nothing - the only evidence of reaction to my mouse click is that the Adobe symbol on the page would disappear and turn into a circular progress bar (the usual reaction) but instead of anything coming up, the Adobe symbol would return. Nothing opened, nothing downloaded. I would check "Show all Downloads" and there would be none for the session. I spent an hour or two searching for advice (variations of this problem appear to be common) but nothing suggested there helped. Eventually I just gave up and reset FF back to its default settings. Everything worked fine after the reset, although I don't know how often I used it after that (but I'm pretty sure at least 5 or 10 times, successfully). Since then I know that I've had at least one, maybe more, FF install updates (automated, not by me). As of today I'm back where I started from - the same reaction when I click the link (momentary circular progress bar) but no view, no download, no blank page, no error message. I've repeated my 1+ hour help search online today (like before) to no avail. I assume I could reset to factory defaults but that is going to be a recurring waste of time, given how often FF updates, if that is the only solution. Surely there is SOMETHING I can change inside FF (or elsewhere) without always having to do a full reset (and lose any changes I've made). As for my FF options and add-ons, I've tried every variation under the sun. In Options/Preferences/Applications I've set PDF Files to every available choice, including Save File, Preview in Firefox, Always Ask, Use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (default) and Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox). Nothing worked. Under Add-Ons/Plug-Ins I have Adobe Acrobat 15.9.20069.28170 installed and I've set that to either "Always Activate" or "Ask to Activate," to no avail. Be aware that every time I've changed one of these settings and tried to download a PDF, the reaction was ALWAYS BEEN exactly as described in the opening description in this email - no variation in response to changes to any of the Add-On settings or the any of the settings for the Application Preferences for PDF files.

Any suggestion would be appreciated. For now I'll just have to go to IE.

I used to be able to read and print pdf files such as bills that are regularly sent to me on the internet. After last update Adobe can't can't read the files or print them directly from Firefox browser. I get a message to save file. I have to save the file to computer then use Adobe to read the saved file. How do I fix?

For some reason Firefox was not displaying pdf's. I use Internet Download manager and it was trying to download the file without me being able to see it in Firefox. Even with the auto-download windows, Firefox should have shown the pdf.

I don't want to use Google Docs viewer since I am using Firefox. PDF Search Engine and PDF Viewer Toolbar is a little bit slower and ad's another row underneath the bookmarks bar (less web-page to see). Are there other options? I know how to change the reader for PDF files to open with Adobe, but Firefox changes it back to the Firefox reader and I have to change it back to Adobe all the time. Why can't Firefox just KEEP my preference for Adobe????

Within that same web site the links to its associated PDFs and to other websites work in all browsers, still including Firefox in its latest version, so why the links to other pages within the same site no longer work in the latest version of Firefox when they always did in every other version is a mystery to me. Being non-technical, the obvious work-around of going back to a previous version is something equally mysterious and therefore inaccessible to me. I have never had to think of doing it before, having been a Firefox (default browser) user for eight years, opting always to have auto upgrades to the latest version because of a trouble-free experience of Firefox - until now.

Filling in an online ballot yesterday on a different website, while using Firefox, threw up a very similar problem. When I clicked on 'read candidates' statements', which had a PDF icon next to it, I wasn't taken to a PDF: nothing happened. So I suspect it was a link to a different page of that website, which comprised just a PDF. All very frustrating. I have reported this to the electoral body which provides the secure online ballot for the organisation staging the election, outlining what I describe above, and asking them too to report this to Mozilla.

My work-around, until Firefox fix this issue, which I have reported to them, is simply to use Internet Explorer or Chrome when necessary, resisting the temptation to make one of them my default browser and thus make even more megabucks for their rapacious owners.

Any help would be appreciated, but please don't assume when you kindly respond that I have technical knowledge! Plain English instructions, please. Thank you.

I would like to use the Nitro PDF viewer plugin as I view hundreds of PDFs a week in my browser. Often, I will email the PDF with a quick link. Now that the ability to view PDFs in the browser is limited to the built-in Firefox PDF viewer, you will need to upgrade it's capabilities to meet the flexibility of the other PDF plugins that can no longer be used with Firefox. Nobody wants to be forced to save every PDF to their drive, and then go find it and open it in their 3rd party viewer to view it properly or email it off.

Please add an "Email PDF" button, as well as an "Open PDF" (with the default PDF viewer) button to the integrated Firefox PDF interface.

Hi, I'm currently running version 63.0.1 , something has changed with my browser, previously when I clicked on a pdf file it would automatically open within the firefox browser. It's rather frustrating to me as a user of this great browser when a pdf file attempts to open using something other than firefox. I feel sure there MUST be some method to correct this issue. Got a new pc (Lenovo AIO 540) 2 days ago. Wanted to open a pdf webfile with my standard browser firefox. I only got an empty page. It worked with my former pc (HP). Changed the opening for a pdf file to Acrobat in the settings, but the result was the same. Tried the same with Microsoft Edge and it worked surprisingly. I don´t wanna change my standard browser from firefox in any othe one. Has anybody an idea what to change in the settings of firefox or adobe to get a correct result?
