I have been never been able to get any useful response to any question, (including the one just posed) from the Mozilla community. I did, by serendipity wind up in a discussion with a new (to me), manage in the process though to stumble across what appeared to be a relatively new forum, within the community that offered some hope, in that it terms of reference were specific to addressing the problem.

Hooray. . .I just accessed the the new notice regarding educated guesses. Blatantly false advertising in that none were provided, but it did appear to be connected to the forum trying to address the problem at hand.

It's a daunting challenge, requiring understanding and discussion in depth because the system itself is quintessentially non-linear, dynamic, and it's ultimate configuration. . .which includes the user interface and human operators indeterminate and un-determinable. But a great and hopeful start. I believe I indicated an interest in contributing to the discussion. How do I get to it? I'm logged in now and my email [edited email from public community support forum] is the easiest way to respond, if that it available. Thanks.

I had lots of trouble making Firefox work yesterday, after what I believe was a Mozilla update I had to uninstall and then reinstall. What I am experiencing after the new install and all updates is: I placed the icon on the taskbar. when I open Firefox it opens a new icon in the taskbar. I have two icons when using firefox instead of two like it has always been before. In the picture, the icon on the left is always there. The one on the right opens when I open firefox. Is it supposed to work like this? It is a windows issue? Is it A mozilla issue? Anyone else having this issue. I have tried different ways after deleting the icons, to place it back on the taskbar. I used the pin to taskbar, drag and drop on taskbar... Any ideas. Just live with it? or fix it somehow?

Completely broken AI and absolutely nowhere to download it.... Worked perfectly fine yesterday, and the poof, it's gone. All the options are still there for AI block and not blocked. Configs are set. You can even see where the AI is supposed to be. Where is it????? Why is there nowhere to download this "extension" (SmolLM2-360M-Instruct-GGUF) when Firefox gets its back broken? I'm not 500 IQ, so I'm not compiling it myself on Linux. Please help me get this feature back. I'm trying to give as much information as I can, but I know it's probably gonna fall short. browser.ml.chat.enabled = true browser.ml.chat.page = true browser.ml.chat.menu = true A bunch of Nimbus experiment values are present. Firefox clearly still thinks the ML/chat feature exists. Yet the On-Device AI section is missing from about:addons.

Help please, cannot open Firefox browser for Windows 10 Pro anymore, clicking icon advises my profile is missing. How to fix ? Ive also spotted a number of folders properties are showing the target as an A:\Users path rather than the expected C:\Users but the path is 'greyed out' and cannot be edited, help much appreciated

Several days ago I backed up my hard drive, preparing to upgrade from W10 to W11. The upgrade was very slow and took a lot of time. Also, when I began to use W11, many of the programs, including Firefox, were slow to load and slow to run. Finally, I decided to try a reinstall of W11, hoping for an improvement. For this second try, I decide to use the option that eliminated programs that, over the years, I had downloaded onto my computer, such as Adobe Reader, Glary Utilities, and Firefox. For whatever reason, this second installation of W11 took less time and programs like Adobe and Glary worked almost as well as before. (They performed a little better on W10.) But not Firefox! Firefox wouldn’t run at all. I then deleted Firefox, using Revo Uninstaller. My next step was to download another copy of Firefox, from the Mozilla website. The result was the error message I have seen on many postings on this website:

Profile Missing Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

As of this writing, the path C:\Users\rsuth\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ leads to two folders, both dated 11/11/2024: 0dppjrfa.default contains one file, times.json, dated 8/11/2020 and ru82tlj5.default-release, containing 97 items, files and folders, most – but not all - of the files dated 11/11/2024.

On my desktop is a folder Firefox Bookmarks. Inside is Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/xh22l03a.Default User It contains 79 items, files and folders, mostly dated 7/16/2023

I have used Firefox for many years. It contains links to many handy and valuable websites. I hope that someone who has read this account will be able to direct me to a solution that will allow me to recover my previous Firefox and all the all the important information it contains. And, if that happens, then I will try to do something similar with my lost Thunderbird. Thanks for reading.

The last update did something to my search bar. I still have it, but when I click on it, it moves to the upper left corner, prevents me from seeing my tabs, bookmarks etc. How can I disable this annoying change? If someone has the answer, I would greatly appreciate it.

I hope this message finds you well. I am a long-time user of Firefox and have greatly enjoyed the browser for its speed, security, and user-friendly interface. However, I recently encountered an issue where the latest update seems to be incompatible with my system.

As a user with a low-end system, I sincerely request that future updates consider compatibility with older or less powerful hardware. Firefox has always stood out for its accessibility, and I believe that supporting a wider range of devices would further enhance the browser’s appeal to users like me.

I would be grateful if there could be an option or version of Firefox optimized for systems with limited resources. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.

When I started up Windows 11 on my new laptop, I had to connect to the web via Edge to be able to install Firefox. I foolishly went on to install Firefox via Microsoft Store. I have now installed Firefox from the Mozilla website via the Microsoft Store version, but I cannot uninstall the Microsoft Store version. I don't have access to the folder where it is installed even though I log on as an administrator.

Many of Linux Distributions take firefox binaries from https://packages.mozilla.org/apt/ as given in the Mozilla Knowlege Base Article Install Firefox on Linux. In this article there is a option to Install Firefox .deb package for Debian-based distributions.

However the binaries and libraries that are hosted in Firefox repositories are not compiled with the PIE/PIC flag. That prevents Firefox browser from using ASLR capabilities and to a large degree prevent Buffer overflows attacks. Please refer to the output given below for more details.

The output of the first command is ELF 64-bit LSB executable, which indicates that it is not a PIE executable. If it had been a PIE executable then it would have been ELF 64-bit LSB pie executable. Similarly the output of the second command has a Key, Type, whose value is EXEC (Executable file). However for a PIE binary the value would be DYN (Position-Independent Executable file).

Can Mozilla please compile the binaries and shared libraries with the PIE/PIC flag and then host them in its repositories? Many of Linux Distros do not have the bandwidth to take the source and compile binaries for different architects and are dependent on Mozilla to provide the same. Doing so would be appreciated and would help in enhancing safety of Linux users who use Firefox as their primary browser.

PIE = Position Independent Executable PIC = Position Independent Code ASLR = Address Space Layout Randomisation. PIC and PIE are used interchangeably and imply the same thing.

i have been using Tor.browser as my default web browser on Macbook for months. Firefox is my 2nd, but two days ago, i was kicked out of Tor, cannot download/use it anymore and the reasons given are as follows:

"Tor.browser quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more detailed information." Ignore Report Reopen (options)

when i have deleted and tried to re-install tor browser, I get the notification that

"Tor Browser quit unexpectedly". No matter what I do

 (I have since done both, obviously & have tried many other things, including trying to Time Travel, which I am not 100% sure how to yet).  the Report states Firefox is responsible for blocking Tor.  how did this happen and suggestions on how to fix.  I have to access Tor to find some pertinent files etc. I have stored there.  thanks

In older versions, there was an option to refuse updates, disable checking and any reminders.

In new versions, you kind of accidentally removed this option. And now a reminder "update update" and a green indicator regularly pop up in the right corner.

I previously deleted all Mozilla servers through the config file, disabled checking for updates. But it still restored the settings and now offers updates again - which irritates me terribly.

I supported Mozilla for many years and considered this browser to be something conservative, it has always been aloof from cumbersome and spyware browsers like Chrome. But your latest actions are disappointing.

The decision to update or not has always been and will be on the shoulders of the user.

I don't care about security policies, patches or bug fixes\Super new features.

With your actions, you only generate unnecessary negativity and lose the most loyal and old users. Today is the day when this browser will no longer be on my devices, you have achieved your goal - congratulations, you have won.

System Details: Macbook Pro (2021) 16 inch Apple M1 Pro macOS Sonoma 14.6.1

1. I downloaded the latest Firefox from Mozilla official website, installed the app, made sure I can see the Firefox app in my applications. I start using the app. 2. Everything will be fine for a few days (say 1 week or 10 days) and one fine day, the browser stops working. Even google.com doesn't open. 3. I quit Firefox and try to re-start it. I cannot find Firefox in my system. It just disappeared. I cannot find in my applications. The search doesn't show Firefox.

I re-install by going back to step #1

This has happened not one time but many times. I searched if others have this issue but did not find anything that i could use. Hence posting this question here.

I have Firefox installed on a lot of other Macbook pros in my home, no other system has this issue. I don'ty understand what is happening. Just wanted to get some guidance in resolving this issue.

I am trying to install Firefox on my new iMac. I can download the Firefox.dmg file and click the Eject "Firefox", but Firefox is not appearing in my Applications folder. What am I doing wrong? How do I get it to transfer?

I am currently on 133.0a1 (2024-10-04) (64-bit) Nightly and the new tab button to the right of the tabs is missing. It will show up sometimes, but I have to go to customize and move some things around, then start browsing and it will pop back up.

I use that button often, how do I get that back?
