I noticed that RAM is not purged when closing tabs in Firefox. I had several tabs open, and FF was consuming close to 1GB of RAM. I closed all but one tab, and RAM only dropped to around 800MB or so. Is there some way to force FF to purge unused RAM?

I have come across pages from time to time that try to prevent me from closing them by continuously opening dialog boxes. Generally these come up as pop-ups or hidden redirects from other pages, rather than from a site that I actually intended to visit. The only fix that currently works is to drag the offending tab into it's own window and ignore it. This allows me to continue browsing, but the only way to get rid of it is to force quit Firefox.

When I did a web search for a way to prevent any further dialogs from opening from a given page all I could find were repeated requests to get rid of the feature and no way to get it back now that it's gone.

My suggestion would be to make an option available, if it does not already exist and easily accessible to force close a tab. This action should kill any scripts that it might be running and close it with out permitting any dialog boxes, pop-up windows or any other action. Placing it in the right click menu alongside "close tab" would be ideal, though if this is considered dangerous in the hands of the average user then create it and use a preferences bit to enable it so advanced users can enable it themselves.

I recently just turned on my macbook pro and for some reason all of my screen capture add-ons are unable to save the complete page to the desk top. The funny thing is, the extensions function through the process without any error pop ups; however, when select to save the screen capture of the entire page to the desktop, nothing appears on the desktop or anywhere. I have never encountered this problem before, and I'm positive that I have done nothing to the macbook pro in terms of any customizations or alterations. If anyone else has encountered this issue before, I would be grateful for your input. The add-ons I have used are "Awesome Screenshot" and "Screen Grab [fix version]". I am able to save the full webpage as an html, save images individually, or download pdf and dmg files, but the screen captures just won't show up anywhere in the desktop or download folder or anywhere on the macbook pro

Hi there. I'm having real problems with my firefox. I'd normally just struggle along but it has become pretty unusable, and firefox is my favorite browser i don't want to switch. I'm running OS 10.8.3. Recently, Approx 2-3 weeks, firefox has stopped loading images. I noticed this first in google maps where all the information boxes that float on top of the main map would momentarily appear and then white out. they will occasionally appear again when scrolled over. This has now started to also happen in e-bay bid windows, guardian editorially content, and even data entry boxes (see image of Firefox sign-in) I have had a look at the forums and taken the following steps, none of which have worked: Check that images are not blocked by following the "more information"> media route (incidentally, even this appears blocked out), I've also done a reset of firefox, and a de-install re-install.. So now i'm pretty much flummoxed. Even the box that i'm typing this is whites out as it fills up with content and needs a new page! Any help would be massively appreciated. Thanks henry (And i can't work out how to add the screenshots so that you can see the problem

I've had this issue for a couple days now. When in firefox and having multiple tabs open, the tab that I am on will freeze and an "unresponsive script" message will come up. When I only have one tab open, the browser will shut down completely without any message. I have already tried disabling all of my plugins, allowing the script to run longer, restarting firefox, and even uninstalling and reinstalling firefox. None of these seem to work for me. Does this mean I have a virus? Are there any other things I can try or should I have this looked at?

Have been using Firefox for years; automatically updated. Also use nhsmail in my work and suddenly in last 24 hours for no obvious reason I am unable to upload attachments to emails in that account. I have tried all the recommended things including restarting Firefox in safe mode , deleting all history and cookies and cache, but no different. Then I tried Google Chrome and it works fine. I have also been in touch with nhsmail help and they couldn't find any problem. So it seems like it is a Firefox issue. Any suggestions please?

Hi, the keyboard shortcut cmd+shift+m works for most of my other applications, and it's listed in the Window menu item, but it's not working in Firefox. Could use some advice. Thanks. :)

I'm getting a strange behaviour in Firefox 20 that I don't see in Firefox 19, but that I can't really find a source for. It's largely repeatable for me, but it's not easy for me to reproduce in other settings.

In essence, I can end up with a select that I can open, but when I click on an item in the selector, nothing happens. Javascript events don't seem to fire, it's just like the item can't be clicked. Once this happens, I can close and re-open firefox and repeat the behaviour as often as I like on the same drop-down. I was able to reproduce it with a simple test case here: http://jsfiddle.net/codiform/LgvRb/8/

But, strangely, I wasn't able to reproduce it with a local HTML file; not sure if that's relevant, or perhaps I just failed to exactly reproduce the scenario in some way, because it's not clear to me what the trigger is.

If i reload firefox in safe mode or reset firefox (in the --safe-mode dialog), this problem will go away for a bit, but it will come back. I have not yet been able to reproduce this when I don't have the Google Web Toolkit (GWT) plugin installed, but that may simply be because I'm trying to use firefox for GWT development, and when I can't trigger the behavior, I go back to doing development work until I the problem recurs. I don't know for certain that it can or cannot be reproduced without the plugin.

Although now that I think of it, I should try removing the plugin now that the problems back and see if it will make the problem go away again. That won't guarantee that you don't need to install the GWT plugin to make it occur, of course, but it'd be one more piece of data on reproducibility.

I recently updated to Firefox 20.0 and noticed that the native Inspect Element tool doesn't have an option to display the page css elements along the right-side of the window like it used to. Is there a button somewhere I'm missing that allows this view?

I also noticed that I cannot hit escape to exit the inspector anymore. Why would this option have been removed?

Hello.

I have a large JPG on my website that I am trying to view and I keep getting the same error message. It is a very wide panorama, but it's only 20MB at 72dpi, so it should easily display properly.

It displays properly in every other browser and even on my phone. It does NOT work in FireFox on any of the computers in my studio.

Please let me know what I can do to fix the error.

Thanks, Dustin
