Why is Firefox backing up my bookmarks in a json file, when Firefox itself doesn't recognise the file type when trying to restore said bookmarks? I WAS able to restore my bookmarks by converting the json file at https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/bookbackreader.html. But why can't Firefox just back up as an html file like to used to? I had to go off searching the internet for a solution, turning what should've been a 5 minute job into nearly an hour 😕

Hi there! After a short elektricity blackout my PC was rebooted and I lost functionality of shortcuts on Mozilla default home page, turning on or off this shortcuts leads nowhere and just move search bar.

How do I add an existing 2nd email account to the Firefox Bookmarks. It keeps reverting to the my family account when I try to add a link to open an existing second email address

Been trying to retrieved misplaced bookmark folders not bookmarks themselves in the Bookmarks Library with no success even going down several sub-levels; Would be nice if there were a search function, but will take a step-by-step solution. Thanks!

I just noticed that I can no longer re-arrange tabs by using drag-n-drop or create bookmarks in my bookmarks bar using drag-n-drop. Is this a new "feature" in 127.0?

I was in the middle of asking this question when I fixed (worked around) the problem so I'm posting more as a informative post as there is a lot of old misdirection out there now.

I am(was) unable to drag any URLs from the URI drop down field in the main interface to my bookmarks toolbar. Nor was any drag and drop functionality working in the "Customise Firefox" screen (right click space on url bar -> Customise Toolbar).

I have now found that resetting my zoom setting in preferences to 100% restores this functionality. The problem arose when I was using 120% zoom, NOT text only.

When I'm saving a bookmark, I have a choice with one click between the last seven folders that were used to save bookmarks previously. Where can I increase that number to however many fit my screen (i.e. define another number by myself?)

I would also be happy to remove the "Bookmarks toolbar," "Bookmarks menu" and "Other bookmarks" shortcuts that stick at the top of that same menu, as I never use them and they only take space. Only "Other bookmarks" might come into use very rarely, if I have no idea how to classify a certain bookmark and I decide to temporarily put it there.

I'm on OpenSuse Leap 15.6 with KDE Plasma 5.27.11, Mozilla Firefox 128.5.1esr

I hover over bookmark folder, they expand, and the links the folder contains work. (Or) now 80 percent of the time, I hover over the bookmark folder, they don't expand, so I click on the folder to expand it, and 90 percent of the time, the links in the folder do nothing when clicked on. They won't even get highlighted, (selected) I restart firefox, and all works again, for about 10 seconds, and problem occurs again. It goes without saying it gets real frustrating restarting firefox over and over and over again to use another bookmark. I've never experienced this before. This only happens for me on firefox for Linux Mint 22.1. Firefox on windows 11 does not exhibit this problem. Please help, thanks. Cheers...

Bought a new computer. All my toolbar bookmarks migrated across successfully. Sidebar symbol missing from the menu bar and I couldn't find where these Book Marks were at first. But then I right clicked on the menu bar, clicked on Manage Book Marks which opened a Library box and there they were. Does anyone know an easier way to access them please? Any tips gratefully received. Thanks, Bob

Click on bookmarks, the drop-down menu appears, click or move cursor on an entry in the list, the new drop-down-menu of 2nd level appears. If the list contains many entries the 2nd level drop-down menu overrides 1st level. This does not happen with firefox preceding version. Note: attaching a picture because a webm video is not accepted.

This used to work fine. I don't want to mess with userChrome.css to get it to work. It should just work like it used to.

Hello. Today I updated Firefox to Version 138.0.3 64 bit and I have found that the Search Bookmarks in Bookmarks no longer works where as in Version 138.0.1 it did. I have done a Refresh and it still does not work. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem. Is this a bug or something new with the current update. Could someone tell me how to solve this a using the Search Bookmarks function was a big help. Thank you.

I have created a number of folders for bookmarks and clicking on the folder used to produce a long list for each. Now, possibly since the latest update, the list is abbreviated and doesn't show bookmarks that, if I open in a tab and click "edit", are shown as being in the folder. The only forum article I have seen on the topic seems far too complicated for me to understand.

I'm running 145.0.2 on Mint Linux and Windows 11...

Like many other users, I have an issue in which roughly half of the icons representing bookmarks on my Bookmarks Toolbar have been replaced by the black+and+white icon of a globe. The links work, but because most of them are now the same, it means I have to hover over them to make sure I click on the link I want.

I've tried: Exporting all my bookmarks to HTML; deleting all bookmarks; re-importing Deleting the "favicons.sqlite" database and letting Firefox recreate it Creating a new Profile and importing all my bookmarks "fresh" in to there

Not only does none of this seem to work, the results are actually inconsistent.

This problem has been kicking around for years - certainly for many major releases of the browser. I understand that there could be deep/complicated issues such as a corrupt user profile, for example...

Unfortunately, however, there does not appear to be any consistent or reliable effective advice on how to fix this issue... and nothing I try seems to resolve the problem.

I'd be very grateful for any recommendations on a reliable repair for this issue.

But I'd also be grateful for suggestions as to how we might go about suggesting to the devs that this long-running bug is overdue a permanent fix.

Not sure whats going on here, been using FF for decades with no problems. I am saving bookmarks to various folders but recently noticed some were not in the folders I was sure I had saved them too. For example, in the screenshot attached I had saved the Rink Diary Bookings to my Bowls folder, but when I opened the folder later the bookmark was not shown. I did the Google search and checked what I could and most solution options were aimed at the Toolbar, which I didn't have a problem with. I then noticed some other bookmarks were no longer showing. I then saved a new Rink Diary Bookings link (now ending in '1') to a second folder so I knew which link was from each folder. This new bookmark also failed to show in the new folder. I somehow found a search button for the bookmarks and found both the bookmarks in the correct folders. (See attached) Can anyone advise how to get the bookmarks to show in, and open from, the actual folders? I am not very tech minded so any help is appreciated. I have previously exported my bookmarks in an HTML file. When reinstalling Firefox, I tried to import them using the HTML backup file. It says that 309 bookmarks have been found, but nothing changes on the bookmarks bar, still showing the "Import bookmarks" bookmark. These are very important bookmarks I would really like to get back, can you help me please ?
