"Send tab to device" only shows 4 most recent devices

When using "send tab to device", the submenu previously showed all synced devices, in my case, more than 10 devices. Recently it only shows 4 devices and there is no way to access the other ones. Is this broken or is it a recent change? If so, can I revert the behavior with a preference?

Under "manage devices", I still see all of my synced devices, they just don't show up in the "send to device" submenu.

I use firefox on both a work and home computer, as well as my phone (iOS). I have sync active on all three devices, yet the synced tabs only ever shows one device's tabs. On both computers, the iOS tabs are all that displays in synced tabs, and on iOS, only one of the two computer's tabs are shown, and often with the wrong name - I haven't found out what determines which computer's tabs shows in the synced tabs menu or which name is used, but it definitely isn't which computer was used more recently, for either requirement.

I am planning a move towards the Firefox ESR 78.6.x. Currently my customer is using the Firefox Rapid Release 84.x and need your help with the profile migration. The customer has a very isolated on-premises environment and does not allow the users to login into a Firefox-Account. Therefore the settings for Cookies, Cache, History and especially Bookmarks are not synched.

Environment details:

  • Enterprise environment with several tausends of clients
  • All clients on Windows 10 Enterprise between 1809 and 20H2
  • All clients have always the newest Firefox installed currently 84.x

This creates a huge challenge to sync this stuff. Therefore I have now identified the following two options:

  1. 1 Allow the downgrade by using the environment variable MOZ_ALLOW_DOWNGRADE on Windows. For this option I am trying to find the real reason why this "Downgrade-Stop" has been implemented in the first place? What risks in detail do I take to allow this downgrade? Has anybody done this before and do you mind to share your experience here? How many issues did you face and how did you remediate the issues?
  1. 2 Hand over the migration to the users. Copy their current profile to their desktop and ask them to import their bookmarks manually. Not preferred by users and I can't even blame them for.

Is there any other way to automatically sync the profiles from 84.x to ESR 78.6.x without user interaction?

is it possible to have individual sync settings for different instances of Firefox? In my case I would like to sync passwords only between my desktop instances and not to my android instance. But every time when I deselect the password sync option on Android it is also deactivated on all other instances. Having the passwords synced to Android is, in my opinion, a security issuse since the Android version of Firefox does not require any unlock procedure (password, pin, pattern, fingerprint, ...) before the stored paswords and log-in data can be used.

I installed Firefox onto my third device, and it synced my data, including my extensions. The only thing is, they don't show up in my tool bar like they do on my other devices. I tried several different things, but the icons for the extensions don't even show up in the customization tab. They don't autofill or work at all, despite saying that they are installed and active.

I am using the latest MX Linux Distro and Firefox 85. I am trying to setup sync with my phone so I can access all my bookmarks and such on my phone. It pops up with a QR code to scan in the Firefox on the phone but it would never scan. After a closer look at the QR code, it is cut off at the bottom and there seems to be nothing I can do to get around that. Endless searches make it out that I am the only one having this problem.

I don't know if this is a bug in Firefox, a bug in the interface, a bug somewhere else, or what. I just want to make it work. Thank you.

Idiotically, I can access new account in Chrome but not in FF. FF continually displays deleted account email address despite clearing cache, and when I attempt to "use a different account" - the new active account - the result is as in the screenshot. It does not accept the address.

I recently made an account for Firefox so I could use Sync. Whenever I press the three lines at the top left corner it displays my email, for whatever reason. I share my screen often and I wouldn't want to accidentally leak my email and/or any other sensitive information.

Is it possible to make Firefox display my username instead of my email, or make it go away completely without losing functionality? Thanks in advance!

Just made a brand new firefox account. want to sync to my phone, to easily send websites to my phone. signed in on both desktop and android and both are synced. on my phone, everything works great and i can see all my open PC tabs. Then, the erroe happens.

On my desktop, when i right click on tab, and select "send to device", it says "no devices connected". This message is incorrect. on the desktip, when i go to my forefox account settings, it conforms my phone is indeed connected.

Why can i not send to device?

I do not intend to sync Firefox on my phone or iPad. My computer is the best and only place where I use Firefox. It seems completely unneccessary for you to keep sending me notices about that as if I were a totally new user every time I log in on my Firefox. I prefer using Firefox, my guide on Internet, and I use it all day. I have already insured you I have the latest version. Is that okay for you too? /Irma Ridbäck now 80 yrs!

I did a system restore because I thought an update had messed up some things, specifically I could not sign in to a site I use regularly because I would get a black screen and a message stating that "Northern Tool" is not currently available in your country. I had been using a vpn but it was set for a U.S. city and both I and the website are in the U.S. also. After system restore for a time only 2 days prior, my Firefox was apparently removed from my computer and all history of it. Now I am having trouble re-installing and using sync to get back my saved stuff. This is all on another PC with Windows 7.
