On certain websites this "Geckomain" process destroys my CPU to 100% and maxes my network traffic with more upload traffic than download, using a lot of my data and bandwidth etc. This is a major concern because I have to pay for my data, it's not unlimited. If left open this process will consume more than 1.5gb of RAM while nothing functions. The only way to stop it is to leave the website. I have to use these websites for my job, so I can't just avoid them. I need a resolution ASAP. Thank you.

Hello,

I have used EVERY proposed step in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_the-problem-does-not-occur-in-troubleshoot-mode

Problem GOES AWAY when FF is used in Troubleshoot mode BUT, when I open FF on normal mode and make sure I UNinstall all addons, extensions, dictionaries, language packs, use default theme and DONT allow hardware acceleration, then the problem STILL persists!!!

It seems that ONLY when in Troubleshoot mode the problem is resolved: NOT by removing all obvious addons or cotrols.

The problem is : ANY download button, does not work! (it is clickable, and yes, the browser seems to respond to it -rapid flickering of browser window- but a download dialogue is never opened -nor a download file is found in any corresponding folder) -then, once in Troubleshoot mode, the same button is normally functional again!

What is a proposed solution to that?

What could control could be behind the problem, that IS NOT USER switchable, but IS INDEED controlled (disabled) when Troubleshoot mode is selected???

Could there be a .json file (corrupted, etc.), that associates with buttons/elements (like the download buttons) and prevents the download to be triggered?, SO THAT maybe if I remove the .json corrupted file the new one will work fine, (maybe such a .json file is NOT loaded during Troubleshoot mode, but IS THERE whatever settings i choose through the settings of the FF)

Thank you.

PS: I have 14 installed plugins, about all same as on my FF93.0 on Win10 laptop, that the packet works just fine!

I am constantly unable to access websites. My data seems to clog up. I'm in my 70's and have no patience or training for sifting though numerous fixes and possible solutions. I've done my best with no improvement. My husband is having the same issues on his computer. All my previous efforts erase my sign ins and require me to constantly enter new sign in information for my common websites. I can use Safari and Chrome without these issues so unless I get some form of personalized help that doesn't require a great deal of technological skill, I'm leaving this browser greatly disappointed in the lack of support.

Good afternoon!

We need to add a "Saved Password Exception" to Firefox on several remote computers on our network (Non-Domain). We do not want to block the saving of all passwords, but want to specify a few websites to never ask or prompt to save.

I was hoping I could do this with Mozilla.cfg or Policies.json, and distribute it over the network to each PC. All I have found is a way of blocking all site password save-prompts with "signon.rememberSignons" in the Mozilla.cfg.

Any suggestions on how to set exceptions for specific sites with either using the Mozilla.cfg or Policies.json? Otherwise I may need to edit the firefox configuration manyally on each PC.

Suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

Since I updated Firefox (I'm on a Mac with Catalina OS) there are all these irritating lines that shoot out from the text when I type or move the browser. Tried deleting and reloading and it's still happening. Bummed because I think what you all are doing is great such that I donated to the mozilla foundation--but this is driving me nuts enough that I'm going back to Chrome :-(

The log in to a website previously worked on Firefox for several years. When I tried this week and hit sign in, NOTHING happened - no wrong password, no error message, nothing. I called their customer support. They passed me around for a while and decided that I had to reset my password. The reset link went to Firefox and nothing happened. I decided to try on Microsoft Edge, and the sign in worked with my original unchanged password. Anything I can do to make the website happy on Firefox? Thanks for your help.

Until recently, when I started typing in the address bar, FF was offering suggestions that were clearly based on addresses I had gone to in the past and seemed remarkably prescient about where I wanted to go. For example, if I typed the name of my hosting service, Seanet, one of the top 2 or 3 choices would be Seanet's login page.

Now, if I type "sean" for example, I get a bunch of irrelevant stuff ("sean connery") and about 10 lines down, it says "firefox suggests" and one of those is the login page. I ran into an article talking about how to change settings under privacy/address bar, but those don't affect this behavior. They change what might be the source of suggestions, and I limited it to browsing history, and that didn't help at all.

Maybe this is something that can't be fixed, but things were easier when FF listed very near the top the actual addresses I went to. Not all have deteriorated, e.g. (to reveal stuff about me) typing "x" gets xkcd.com as the first suggestion, and typing "e" gets explainxkcd.com as the first (sorry, sometimes I don't get the computer references and need an explanation).

Any help would be appreciated.

Logging on to my bank web site is no longer possible with Firefox. It used to be, so I assume the bank's computer security protocols have changed. However, I can log on with the Microsoft Explorer browser - works every time! Moreover, in the past, when I could still log on with Firefox, I could never "register my device" for the bank site; it always gave me an error message. With the Explorer browser, I can register my device, with no error messages. I have tried all the suggestions in the Firefox help section: erased remembered history, erased all history, erased all cookies, erased cookie profile files. Nothing works.

Good afternoon, We have a large quantity of PC's that we need to add a Pop-Up exception to for Firefox.

Is there a way to add this desired website pop-up exception via a script remotely? I know where to go to manually add a Pop-Up exception (Settings/Privacy & security/Allowed Website Pop-Up's). But is there a way to script this? Can this even be locked with a PrefLock line in a Mozilla.cfg file? I did a little digging and did not see anything. That would be ideal.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Please note that the remote machines are NOT a part of a domain. But I have complete connectivity to them as an administrator on the same network.

Yes, I read this article and no, the sound is not being muted instead the sound just refuses to play. In the screenshot, it shows that the "play" "mute" and speed option are greyed out. Also, I tried using safe mode and audio still wouldn't play. What should I do?
